Some better or alternate multitasking would be nice. I had to switch between stuff a lot last night, and double-tapping the home button and then selecting the app was kind of a lot of "work" to do. Using a keyboard, perhaps SHIFT-COMMAND-TAB could be an option. I guess some three-finger swipe could work as well.

It would also be nice if FUNCTION-DELETE on the Apple wireless keyboard worked to delete items to the cursor's right in iOS like it does on Mac OS. Didn't happen in Pages for me.

try enabling the additional multitouch gestures via xcode. it certainly helps boost productivity by just switching between apps with 4 - 5 fingers gestures. it doesnt require a jailbreak. http://www.appletell.com/apple/comment/how-to-enable-multitouch-gestures-in-ios-4.3-on-ipad/

Better camera for Skype and the ability to use Bluetooth headset with Skype. Though I wonder if that's an issue just with Skype.

Ideally I'd like to be able to use my iPad as a video phone on the go and be able to converse with all computer users. Not just Mac. FaceTime is worthless to me because none of my regular contacts use iPhone or Macs.

It's not just the ability to make video calls over 3G/4g that I'm after. Just being able to use the iPad as an in home video phone would be a plus. Family doesn't need to ather at the computer. They can be on the sofa, sitting on the porch, wherever and visit virtually.

I'd also like a better keyboard. Something like Androids Swype. That thing is awesome.

Once again I was appalled by lack of 3 finger swipe to move back and forth on the browser like mbp... Should this not be no brainer?

My biggest wish for ios5 is simply this:
That somehow, people will learn to use the search function and stop creating the same thread every other day thinking it is unique and not been done before.

Other than that, I would be happy with better notifications.

I don't care if it's a "real" filesystem or not, but my #1 wish is some Apple-approved, universal way of sharing documents and files between all of my apps and easily syncing them back to my Mac. I don't care about what the implementation is as long as it accomplishes this in a seamless manner.

Agreed. I'm used to a file system, but I'll take any workable solution that lets me easily open a file in multiple apps, attach multiple different files to one e-mail, hook up USB drive to get files on and off it without need internet access and/or access to a computer etc.

Add all that, and it will be very close to being a machine I could use for most business trips. Would just need an office app more compatible with MS office than the current options which all mess up formatting in complex documents, presentations etc. And that's out of Apple's hands (other than improving iWorks compatiblity with MS Office I guess), so I'll be pretty pleased if they just improve the way file sharing/loading works and add USB drive transfer support.

There's a big problem with this; JavaScript on web pages can already detect multiple touch points. You would have to limit all web pages to only 2 touch points if you wanted to use a 3 finger swipe for back and forward.

This misses the most important one.

The elephant in the room is that this Post-PC device still needs to tether to a PC for system updates, media syncing and file transfer.

All of that must go.

The iPad needs to be an autonomous device, suitable for buyers who don't own and don't want to tether to a personal computer.

iOS5 needs to cut the cord.

what the hell, cord should have been cut from the very beginning!

till the replacement chord (aka cloud, high speed universal affordable internet) etc is in place u cant really just go cutting chords.

Good point. I hope however that apple does the right thing since this is needed somehow.

How so?

If my desktop PC can be autonomous. And my laptop can be autonomous, and even a netbook can manage without tethering. Why should the only device described as a post-PC device, need so desperately to be docked to a PC ?

Yes, to sync to iTunes, there'd need to be some infrastructure changes.

But system updates, media syncing and file exchange could all be done over WiFi.

A Common File System is what would make the sense the most. Having to open and work on some documents from different applications creates multiple copies of the same. A Unified File Storage System would practically eliminate duplicate files.

FaceTime not restricted to 2.

I thought they were going to do that on the iPad 2 keynote. It just seemed as if they were going to say and if you rotate it on the side you can have multiple chat windows like iChat.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_3_1 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/533.17.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.0.2 Mobile/8G4 Safari/6533.18.5)

Multitask like safari tabs on iPad and iPhone. Capactive home button on iPhone that allows for one finger swipe left and right to switch between apps like 4-5 finger switching on iPad.

I wish i could scroll my mouse over from laptop to the ipad to control it. Not as an extended desktop but to control the actual ipad itself. like say a vnc server on ipad or something. sometimes th ipad is stood up next to my laptop and this would be a lot easier.

In the poll you've missed options for two of the most often requested and most rumored features: 'cutting the cord' and 'better notification system', and you've included a bunch of options that are already possible: '3rd party browsers', 'upload files from browser', 'Reader', 'tabbed browsing', and 'gestures in browsing' (with the use of iCab).

...It's not a very good poll.

Agree with some of the wishlist.
I also agree about the idea of ipad as autonomous (or maybe less dependent?) device too, and actually was one of my first thought about ipad in 2010. I think that Apple first should redesign the way that iTunes manage iOS devices, sync processes, files, settings and backups to do this.

The "support multiple simultaneous apps in a windowed fashion" thing also is a really good way to do some real multitasking, maybe for just two apps at time. I do a lot browsing while watching videos just to find some informations about it or comment on while watching streamed talk show in social tvs. Even though IOS force us to "focus" on one app at time, it's really annoying to switch every time between, in example, youtube app and safari.

Another thing I really do not understand, that Apple should address in iOS5, is the camera roll. I have 1650 pictures in my iphone all in the same place. No tags, no exif, no data, no way to categorize. Really? Come on...

1. Better notification system (including central page)
2. option to get rid of spotlight
3. useful lock screen
4. ABILITY TO SET WHICH BROWSER LINKS OPEN IN.
5. cloud syncing. the ipad has GREAT battery life and should support syncing playlist changes and such between computer and ipad especially if it's under a certain file size/on wifi

6. CONSOLIDATED MUSIC/PODCASTS/VIDEO APP I wish there was just an iTunes mini for ipad (probably have to be named something other than iTunes to not confused people, just integrate everything into the ipod app)

7. The ability to edit media info ON THE IPAD. I should be able to add lyrics, retitle songs, movies, add album art, etc from the ipad itself.

8. Camera tool bar on the SIDE of the screen instead of bottom center (where it's much harder to reach)
