Reviewers had a big circle jerk over this phone and none came out and said if you use it as a smartphone the battery life is terrible. That did us a big disservice. Instead we are all trying to find ways to eliminate features to save battery life. It just doesn't feel like a good example of Apple design or why I buy Apple products. It has me considering other brands for the first time in years.

I really like the camera and ios7. Battery life is my biggest complaint.

The touch ID seems to be getting worse the more I use it

I think its meant to do the opposite?

Touch ID has been pretty flawless for me and many many other people, it may be the case that you have a faulty phone, or you need to erase the saved fingerprints and set it up again.

my two biggest problems are battery life and crashing. about once a day the phone will crash, show me the apple logo and come to the lock screen, but i don't think it's a full restart since it doesn't ask me to enter in my pass code. this i hope will be fixed with a software update. the battery issue is more concerning. significantly worse battery than on my iphone 5, and i'm hoping this is an iOS 7 issue that can also be remedied via software update. i have two days to return the phone, but i'm leaning towards keeping it.

I love my 5s, I havent had any problems with it so far (got it on Saturday). Touch ID is awesome, i never used a passcode to lock my phone before because it was too much trouble, but touch ID is great. Its much faster and lighter than my 4 was. When i upgraded my 4 to iOS 7, it was crashing and freezing up constantly, have not had a single issue with the software on the 5. Battery life is also impressive. I couldnt be more satisfied.

Crazy how people are complaining about battery life. My battery seems bulletproof on this thing. I mean I went a full day and used it pretty hard yesterday (didn't charge all day) and still had 50% when I plugged it in at 1am. My 4S would have been dead (I usually charge it mid day).
You guys won't find another smartphone that gets this kind of battery life. Maybe the G2? Either way, it's funny people are complaining about battery life on a phone that gets above average battery life. It's one of the top phones that actually delivers good battery life.

For me, this is by far the best iPhone yet. I'm on the S upgrade cycle and it has been a huge upgrade over my 4S. I got mine on launch day about 1 1/2 after the stores opened.

All my issues seem to stem from bugs in iOS 7. I know Apple will get it straightened out so I'm not worried about it.

The hardware is incredible. Touch ID has spoiled me terribly; using my iPad pass code seems archaic now.

The camera is fantastic -

Often the quality of your print can change due to environmental conditions or other activities. For example, if dry cold winter weather has become the new normal you could add an additional print under those conditions.

Might want to check location services (System services too) and background usage apps.

Seen people get bad battery life on a 5/5S running iOS 7 due to those two specific features.

So adjusting those may help, ESP since you setup as a new phone. (I always setup as a new phone... but it is annoying to do)

Very annoying! And yep did both of those things. lets just see if this 7.03 update improves things...

Former android user. I'm really liking it. Print id works pretty consistently. Smoother running apps. Updates when promised, which is one of the top reasons why I gave up on android. Great battery life. Great camera. Using passbook to pay for still is pretty cool, even if it's been mainly coffee. LTE!

Love mine. Best battery life by far of the 5 iPhones I've owned. And I have EVERYTHING turned on...

i love it!

i was kinda worried about the fingerprint scanner being a gimmick but it is very accurate and i still have it enabled.

relating to crashes, i've experienced 3 but they weren't that big of a deal to me...
What is the fingerprint scanner, and how do I access it? I've read about it, but I never came across it when looking at all the apps.

Mine is great. Only issue was I had to reprogram my fingerprints, but that was after a day of sanding. Literally sanded pieces of my fingers off and they scanner was only working 50% of the time. Reprogram fixed it right away.

Battery has been good. Thought signal was a issue, but confirmed that ATT had a tower down.

It's a keeper for me!

so ios 7.0.3 fixed my daily crashing problem for the most part. i haven't seen the system reset at all; all my crashes seem to be app-related (yahoo mail getting stuck on the purple launch screen, for example). it's rock solid, and i'm really happy with the phone overall. battery life is still not anywhere near what the 5 was for me, but it's enough to get me through a full day.

To put it bluntly, amazing.

Battery life is actually very good (by the time I charge it up at night it's normally around 40% and I'm a heavy user).

Touch ID is fantastic and extremely fast compared to putting your password or Apple ID in. (I love it when people say "The Home button makes a loud clicking noise when pressed". It will do, it's a BUTTON.)

iOS 7 is getting even better (still a few bugs here and there).

The camera on the 5s is just awesome due to the True Tone flash and the Burst Mode is as impressive.

Rare occasions where apps will crash but that's due to the fact that apps are needed to be updated for the 64-bit 5s.

Just a final note. Did anyone read the articles about the 5s screen touch accuracy? Them articles must be utter rubbish! The touch screen works, and it's very very accurate!

Overall, best phone on the market, nothing comes close.

What are you guys doing that's causing your battery to drain so fast? I'm a heavy user with location services enabled and I'll get home after a full day with, at the very minimum, 40% battery left. Only severe drain I notice is during graphically intensive games.

ehhh my feelings are mixed

Long time iphone user and honestly I feel like I should have kept my 5!

The 5s is a decent upgrade, camera is a little better, the fingerprint scanner is pretty cool and all that. However I'm on at&t and honestly the call quality on this phone just stinks. There's a hissing sound, kind of like fuzz on the line when making a phone call that has been driving me mad since I got the phone. I tried a few other demo models in the at&t store and they all have it, even the reps personal phone has it? at&t/Apple,,,SMH whats up with that? Things should get better and clearer with new models, not worse and a step back.

May locate a 5 and ditch the 5s.

Upgraded from a 4S.

Am liking a lot.

Great battery life....but takes longer to charge

Fast. I mean it is really very fast. I still have a 4S with IOS 6 and i feel that despite the additional animation, everything still opens and closes and transitions smoothly like butter....think it could be faster then Windows Phone...

Like the design of the hoe button. Makes the phone look that much more sleeker a little.

Hate the apps crashing ever so often.

LOVE my new 5s. Had a Galaxy Note 2 for 7 months and couldn't take Android anymore - too many steps to get things done and all the apps I use were just clunkier than their iOS counterparts.

I'm very happy to be back in iOS. The fingerprint sensor rocks - I never pin locked my phone before but the fingerprint sensor makes it easy and seamless to unlock.

Part of the reason I went to a Galaxy Note 2 from my iPhone 4S was to experience a bigger screen. I'll have to say, I'm actually happy to be back to the smaller screen on the 5S. The phone is much more pocketable and I have small hands and the 5S just fits them better.

Its good but I expect more in battery life.Though its better than iPhone 5 rather its seems awful battery life.
