My iPod is named "Peacekeeper" at the moment. My PB is also named "Peacekeeper". Have not looked into how to change the name of my iPod to something different.

My 5 GB iPod is "Vedilia's Verses" (anything to get the wife onside)

My 1 GB shuffle was supposed to be "iPod Kerfuffle" but it was truncated!

This thread is very informative. I know my life is more enriched after having read all the responses. Thank you everyone.

aPod, as my name's andy, hence the "a". me and all my mates did that, so there's aPod, kPod, mPod, cPod, etc etc.

my AlBook is called "beast", my p900 is called "elbow" for reasons i cant remember cause i was drunk when i named it.. my mac mini is "spanky", again, for reasons best known to my sister.

and my car is called "gforce", (well the bluetooth car kit anyway) on account of its acceleration :D

My iBook is named ono-sendai, named after a computer brand in William Gibson's Newromancer triology...
My old Pismo is named treskjegg (the Norwegian name for trebeard) from Tolkien's Lord of the Rings...

I'm sure you could find a character from a book, tv show or movie that has the properties you'd like to associate with your iBook... ;)

if i do get a new ibook, and the old one i have is still working, then i will have to come up with a name for the new ibook to distinguish the two machines

instead of "ibook 2" or "new ibook", i may call the new ibook something from an opera

of course, if the old ibook breaks down (and it's too expensive to fix), the the new ibook will be called, "ibook"

Well right now my 4G 20gig is just called "Q's iPod" since my nickname is Q, but after reading this thread, I feel a change in the wind. Thanks for the insperation.

iPod name: <my name>'s iPod
My computers name: Bob
My future Apple computer: AADKWA - Andy Kwan will be its name... AADKWA - an apple a day keeps windows away... so I guess I'll have Bob and Andy as computers!

(Unless the Apple is a PowerBook, in which it's name will be a symbol...)

My 2G 10gig's called Ummon (goes with the WinterMute reference) I'm looking at a new 40 gig, but it means I have to ge read some Gibson again to find another name...

My Hard Drives are called SponeBob and Squarepants so I think I will name my iPod shuffle (will acquire here in a week or two) Squidward.

Never heard of a SponeBob.

Dunno what that is.

Is it just me, or is spelling on this thread unusually bad?

Most people haven't figured out how to activate OS X's automatic spell check. However my problem right now is I'm at work, and have to time to check the spelling. (Not to mention some people don't care at all.)

oh chainsaws

i have done gardening and landscaping as a business since the 80s, but one year i decided (more for the sheer fun) to get into tree trimming with chainsaws

though not terribly expensive (from $200-$550), chainsaws cost a mint to get repaired and serviced ($45 dollars an hour)...which one has to do much more often than a car

in no time at all, one's biggest costs are fixing the darn things since they are actually quite delicate with two cycle engines

well, the man who fixed my saws was named jim

so to get on his good side, i called my saws big jim, little jim, and jim jr (for my climbing saw)...i swear because of that, he charged me less and really took the best care of them

one day while drinking beers with the lumberjacks and tree trimmers at the garden tool shop, i met a man who had a crooked face right down the middle due to a very unfortunate chainsaw accident...that spooked me so mightily and kept me up at nights that after just a year with that side business, i quit doing anything that required chainsaws

Is that some kind of joke or is there really an automatic spell check in OS X???
