Better speaker, I don't mind stereo or not as unless the device is positioned just right it won't sound different.

And lighter.

Pretty much that!

The ipad 5 should in a sense be a consumation of the initial ipad vision--especially if it weighs in under .8 lbs. I am not sure where ipads go in the future, which is why apples stock is suffering. The mobile "expansion" is sort of played out

Played out? I beg to differ. Seems like it is just getting started. Imagine 10 years down the road when an iPad performs like a Mac Pro.

I wish ipad 5 would have a iSight camera in the landscape bezel. There's a reason laptops don't put the camera in the side.. But I know that wont happen. :-/

It needs to be much much faster.

The first time I got the 'whoah' feeling for speed was with the iPad 2 in 2011. That thing was fast compared to the iPhone 4.

However, the iPad 3 actually had choppier animations because of the retina display, the speed increase with the iPad 4 is merely incremental.

My iPhone 5 feels much snappier than any iPad out there, it should be the other way around. The iPad should be the power horse, not the phone.

I want it to be about 5x faster than the A6x. :(

Lol...'incremental'. Horse puckey. The iPad 4 doubles the speed both in CPU and GPU horsepower over the iPad 3--- and it bests the iPhone 5 as well. You must've not picked up a '4'? As an owner of both as well as the original and the second iteration...I can honestly say the CPU speed is the least of my concerns. The RAM increase would be welcome. Apps aren't designed yet to take advantage of quad core procs yet. I'd rather see (with the A7x) an increase in clock speed and better efficiency (battery life, though I'm not complaining:)). I like the mini bezel but sometimes have issues hitting targets on the 'edge' of the site/page. Bigger bezel would allow for a pair of front facing speakers and stereo sound finally!

I guess I'm curious as to the three or four responses on 'speed' of the CPU. Crazy. The 4 is a monster....doubling down the power on both its predecessors and the GPU in some cases triples the performance of the A5. Not that an increase in horsepower isn't commonly included....Haswell seems to have brought a new philosophy as energy efficiency, not pure grunt....is the 'desire' of most of the population

IMHO...keeping the same speed or a 10-25% increase, double the RAM...but increase battery efficiency another 30-50% would be phenomenal! Literally a two day, all day device without access to a 'plug in' would be welcome.

Wireless AC, thinner (mini) form factor (w/bezels), and maybe a heartier 15-20 watt charger....half the charging time. That's my wish list.

Android Boot Camp....if it has to be hardware related SD Card Slot.

Curious. I see where you might want this, but how useful would it really be in the end?

Agreed, and I'd like to see a move to making the device a landscape oriented one.

The biggest reason why you ask? Because the smartcovers made by Apple keep the device in landscape. Now that we don't have docks it'd be nice to have a mobile stand that allows me to not have to hold the device to keep me centered on the screen.

Agreed and same here. I'd like to see improved wireless, smaller bezel, faster charging, all of the goodness of iOS 7 straight no chaser, and more Wacom digitizer integration.

I really need Apple and 3rd party manufacturers to up the ante on the digitizers/styli front. Samsung really shouldn't be the only game in town when it comes to a fully integrated system that takes full advantage of a stylus in a useful way.

I have used the iPad 4, thought it was faster, but really not that much faster. I know the A6x is much faster than the A5x, but the chip doesn't really shine somehow.

I want zero lag when swiping trhough apps with four fingers. I don't want to wait for the app to unfreeze. That would make the iPad truly awesome. The iPad 4 can't do this, can only hope the 5 will.

I want to form factor of the mini, lighter, faster, etc etc see above.

What would make me really interested in being able to use two apps in portrait mode side by side while the iPad is in landscape mode. Now that would be good multitasking. Not being able to look at one source of information while typing into another app is what makes the laptop so much more useful to me.

akes full advantage of a stylus in a useful way.

I am assuming you mean Android, I mainly want the keyboard customizability for typing certain documents. Also because two OSes on iPad would be cool.

Two good reasons. For me it would be total Google integration.

And if I truly had my way we'd get the S Pen features from the Note II/8/10.1

Stylus

Considering the iPad 5 is likely going to purchased by people looking for a productivity tablet (generally speaking - I know there are exceptions), Apple really needs to reassess their stance on the stylus. It can be sold separately, but we need a professional solution because annotating and writing is just too difficult currently. A 32gb entry point would also be nice - and considering the price of memory these days, Apple could easily start the iPad 5 @ 32gb to add value to limit the Mini's cannibalism of the 9.8inch market with very little sacrifice in profit margins. 32gigs of memory for Apple is probably cheaper today than 16gigs was when the iPad 1 was released.

I doubt I'm going to buy a new iPad until someone pays me an extra $10K per year, but here's stuff that sounds doable and intriguing.

1) Fingerprint recognition. If iPhones support this, iPad support is a big duh. I see plenty of people carrying around iPads to use as cameras. This is the only device some people have, so it makes sense. It really makes sense if it works for security (new unlock method) and purchases (more secure than any password).
2) Thinner, lighter, faster. It's Apple. Duh. The obvious move is more toward the reduced bulk of the iPad mini. But is it possible with a Retina display?
3) Battery life. I know the MacBook Air benefits from new Intel CPUs. But if there's A-series tech that gives anywhere near that kind of a boost, boo yah. I have no real complaints about my iPad's battery other than how long it takes to recharge and my cheapo PC notebook not charging it over USB.
4) Cheaper cellular. I would think about buying a cellular version if the price got down below $100. I'd like to have the option for something I plan on owning for a few years, and that means you get built-in GPS.
5) Mo storage for cheaper. Get rid of the 16GB option in the full-size iPad. Unless you do nothing but go through websites and use email, you need more. If you get into Newsstand or buy media (music, videos, etc.), you're going to need more storage. Just turning on PhotoStream takes a huge chunk of that. If PhotoStream ever were to include videos you shot, holy moly. Leave 16GB to the mini. (And while we're at it, get rid of the darn iPad 2 already).
6) Better speakers. I cannot play most stuff tilted one way because I am used to the sound coming out the right side. So figure out a way to get better speakers.
7) Better cameras. I never use my iPad as a camera. Is this why iPads don't have better cameras, or would I use it more if it had iPhone 5-quality cameras?
8) A USB port and SD card reader. I'm so kidding. I'd rather see other manufacturers figure out that we have 18,000 different wireless technologies. Why must I still take an SD card out of a $200 camera and download pictures? Unless I spend $50 on a card that normally costs $10 or buy one of those Android-based cameras at $300, that's the deal. (Apple, make a smart camera. Please.)
9) Streaming media. If I can stream movies, music and TV shows on my Apple TV, why can't I do that on my iPad at least over WiFi? Oh, and figure out a way to get iTunes Extras on there.
10) I've run out of ideas but I like even lists. You guys suggest something. Wireless charging? 16x9 aspect ratio?

They have nailed the screen, and battery life what else could you wish for?

For me I'm hoping that they can shrink the bezels, and make the iPad 5 much lighter.

I know the bezels are forecast, but making it lighter while maintaing great battery will be a challenge.

What are you guys hoping for?

A 10 hour battery life isn't exactly great considering, that a full fledged laptop (MB Air) has overtaken the battery life of the ipad. I say a 13-15 hour should be the ideal target atleast, if not more. There is no point getting an more efficient processor, screen tech, and other low power chips if its not going to help increase the battery life.

My main other requirements would be increase in RAM to 2GB along with the ability to use a proper file system whereby I can use open a file with any app of my choice. ( This can be specific to ipad).

The icing on the cake, like many pointed out would be the 5's 32gb at $499 and the 16GB coming in at $399

Half the weight of the current iPad Retina and the ability to use a stylus like the Samsung Galaxy Note 2.

Hmm I think that this will be the future of displays, thinner bezels and I whole heartedly agree, they look sexier and seem to be less of a piece of tech but something that interacts with the world.

I would enjoy the iPad Mini format, the flatter design, unlike the iPad 4th gen with the deeply rounded edges.

Microsoft slate

Just read yesterday that Microsoft tablet will be coming out with a 256 gb capacity.do you think will see this in Ipad5? Doubt it.

I doubt it, but then again I am a "keep it in the cloud" fanboy. I don't even see the purpose of the 128GB iPad unless you're a DJ/VJ etc. I have a 64GB iPad and I put 10GB of music on it, and 45GB of movies that I personally never watch. My next iPad will be a little more modest.

Almost every file I need is in a cloud of some form, and my movies are pulled from Netflix, or put on then off the device.

I know that the Surface (which is a TRUE hybrid of tablet and full fledged OS and quite nice to use) needed the space because of the space needed for Windows 8. I can't remember exactly, but I think it used upwards of 25GBs in the 64GB Surface version, not leaving much for the end user.

Also, the Surface really is a full fledged computer, so it can run full Windows 8 apps.

If it is lighter than the iPad 2, then I'll buy one. Simple as that.
