I yearn for the day when my ipad will defy gravity and float above my head, so that I can lay in bed and watch whatever hands free. That will be worth $500+.

I just wish Id be able to justify the purchase, Im still madly in love with my iPad2, had I gotten a larger capacity version I wouldnt even consider upgrading.

Probably:

32gb entry
1080p front facing camera
Mini like design (hence slightly smaller than 4)
Nano SIM
50 - 150g lighter
AC Wifi
Probably faster CPU

Not sure about

2Gb RAM
Front facing speakers
Faster charging
Fingerprint sensor

I'm not really seeing increase in battery life

1) Reduce the weight. To me the iPad always was to heavy to hold comfortably in one hand. I hope they can drastically reduce the weight and make it much lighter.
2) While travelling I shot a lot of video and photos and I wish I could pull those off and store them on a harddrive using the iPad. Never going to happen. I know. Maybe I get the 128GB model.

1. Weight Reduction

2. 2GB RAM or more;)

3. CPU/GPU improvements

4. It comes out very soon

Thats all i ask for.

I would like it to be a more powerful device in terms of function. SD card slot and/or USB with the appropriate changes in iOS to not only read them, but be able to save things to them. I'd love to able to pull pics off my sd card directly to the ipad. I also do a lot of malware cleaning off PCs, it would be nice if I can use my ipad to download the most recent version of combofix or whatever scanning program I want to use, directly to a USB flash drive and use that flash drive on the infected PC.

I have an ipad 3 currently and there's little to no reason for me to upgrade if all im getting is the same functionality in a device that's a little thinner and a little faster. I don't really play games on my ipad so I don't need the extra graphics potential.

Chances are none of this will happen, so my next item in the wish list is for it to be cheaper. Ipad IMO is overpriced for its function.

Can't you already do that using the SD card reader adapter?

I'd rather not carry around an extra piece of hardware for a deveice thats suppose to be "ultra portable" It's easy enough to integrate and it just makes sense IMO.

Its that most wonderful time of the year! This will make me 5/5 for iPads :D Here's my list:

There's the obvious that we're almost guaranteed:

32GB Base model
Smaller / Lighter

But what I really want a return of is the:

10 hour battery! - I'm sorry, but since the third gen it just has not been achieving this. That retina screen is a hungry bad boy. After the iPad 1 and 2 which literally lasted for days of use, I'm always surprised to see the battery indicator dropping like a stone after a couple of hours reading. Not Video or Games. Reading books / comics. I generally keep my screen brightness just above the lowest level too. Can't imagine what kind of battery life power users are getting....

I hate to admit it but I'm the guy in the back, waiting for a 128 GB (or 256 GB) 5th gen iPad. The main reason for such huge internal storage? A music library that's already over 10 GB and that's with only 3% of the source files ripped/converted to 256kbps AAC (iTunes Plus)... I think you can see where this is going. My library is going to get BIG rather quickly, to the point where even 64 GB storage won't hold it all. I didn't even consider apps, photos, or movies ;)

I'm a power user/gamer and I typically get 10-12 hours from my iPad 3. Dunno what's wrong with yours.

As for my wish, an iOS 7 jailbreak. Stock iOS is so restricted it makes me sick. I'm not too concerned about the iPad 5 though, cuz my next tablet will be a Nexus 10.

256G would be nice.

I knew this was coming.... :) I've two different iPad 3's and an iPad 4....

Edit: To clarify. I do get about ten hours battery life. Just. My original post was incorrect. But the iPad 1 + 2 I was getting MORE than ten hours. I want that back. :)

I have a 3. I have heard people say the 4 has better battery life.

If it is only marginally better in the 4, I would hope for even better in the 5. the battery life in my 3 is pretty bad. And I have the brightness turned to less than half.

An all white wake-up screen so the "My iPad screen has light leaks" threads can be delayed by at least 30 minutes.

In all seriousness; the iPad mini design scaled up will make me quite happy.

What would make me happier? The iPod nano design scaled way up.

I been surfing the web/watching netflix for 1 hour and 40 min and got 90% battery left. I usually get 14-17 hours out of my iPad 4. Didn't use my iPad 1 much (was too slow for web browsing) so I can't say if it was any better.
