Systems Engineer for a mobile telecommunications software company. Essentially, I test, install and support the software we produce in mobile phone networks (on the core network, not on the handset). I had seven years experience working for one of the UK's mobile phone networks as a support engineer before making the switch to being a supplier. My degree is in Electronic and Electrical Engineering where I specialised in telecommunications.

What I'd like to do is anything that would let me move back to my home town of Glasgow as I've been away for 14 years now and miss my family too much.

Used to be in biomedical research.

Now in IT.

Have a BS in Biology. Probably going to switch it up and start an MBA program soon.

IT Renewal Manager.

We sell security kit like RSA, Imperva, Sophos etc and services to organisations like o2, Everything Everywhere, Morrisons etc.

I just sort out support contracts. Sales is too stressful and i'm also wicked lazy. :)

That thread started over six years ago, and has over 750 posts, ending about 7 months ago. I think we can let it die peacefully.

As for me, I'm pretty much the opposite of all these IT, MBA, and project manager-type folk. I'm a lighting technician and programmer for exhibitions, corporate events, theater, dance, concerts, and television. Freelance, so I have a lot of free time to pursue other interests as well.

Neuroscientist

B.Sc. in Psychology minoring in Biology
Ph.D. in Psychology & Neuroscience
4 years post-doctoral training

I have to keep educating myself both on the science but also on the IT and electronics technology needed for collecting data.

Informatics Pharmacist

4 years undergrad
4 years doctorate in pharmacy

2 year residency is optional (I didn't do it because I had good ties and networking getting me the job I wanted without the need of one)

I am a pharmacist specializing in IT applications for health systems and hospitals. I manage workflows and increase efficiency in hospitals while also staffing and using my knowledge and expertise clinically. Basically obamacare and meaningful use has made my profession in high demand. I am pretty much the youngest informatics pharmacist in maryland.
