6/12/10.

Does this price mean I would be able to get the $199 equivalent pricing, or the $399?

PS: I know this is for next year, but assuming the prices are close, and have 3 incremental steps, which would I be eligible for?

I remember the date being 12/11/09 just a few months ago, not 03/11/10 that's why I'm kinda pissed.

And yeah, I pay pretty much the bare minimum and I also have a fan discount. My bill is never over $75 a month.

i know the forums are filled with people complaining about how they are not able to upgrade, but i think it is pretty cool that AT&T caters to some of their customers that provide more business for them.

i pay more for my phone than other people do because i use it more and AT&T recognizes it and lets me upgrade more frequently. i was on Verizon for years and did not notice such a policy. (although i just may not have noticed it)

Even I, who pays the bare minimum, will be paying over 2 grand over the life of my contract. Why shouldn't they cater to me? Don't they want me to keep forking over 2 more grand by continuously extending my contract?

For iPhone, I think they should allow upgrades every year because we are forced to have a data plan and pay all that extra money.

Anyway, I have a question: when you upgrade your phone, do you still get that ridiculous "first bill" pricing, or does your phone bill continue to be normal (besides the upgrade fees of course)?

got mine october 8 2008, can upgrade march 12 2010. I did change rate plans at one point, maybe that restarted my 2 years? Also I'm the Primary line.

I don't know why I can't find my date.

I'm on the upgrade page that shows all the phones and the prices. 32gb is listed as $499 for renewal, but I've scoured all over the page and do not see a date anywhere.

Where should I be looking?

I bought on launch day, 2 iphone 3G's on a family plan. 550 min plan with data and 200 texts on one phone. With fan I pay about $125/month. Neither of my phones is eligible for an upgrade until 3/11/10. I wonder how much your monthly bill has to be on a family plan for your main line to get an early upgrade.

2 iphone bought on launch day
family plan 1400 minutes around 160 after fan discount and im not eligible until 12-11
might give them a call see if they can work something out

Does not everyone understand the pattern here family Plan it is 12 months non Family plan it is 18 months. There is no rocket science here. I have a 7/12/09 and bought on launch day last time and had the first Iphone as well. I think it also has to do with the primary account holder in the family plan. But everyone that seems to have a 7/12/09 or so date is on a family plan. 15 thousand post later and no one has picked up on this. YOU signed a contract end of story.

Your bill is probably under $100 then...

That's Bullshiet if thats the case. How about a being a loyal customer since 1999. Does that count towards anything?????? They would rather take care of some NEW customer that came in since the IPHONE, than I long standing customer since the 90's :mad::mad:

By the way, I purchased the orginal IPHONE when they announced their big discount. Then bought the 3G IPHONE on launch day. Now it says IM NOT ELIGIBLE FOR DISCOUNT until 3/10/2009. But that I can do an Early upgrade at 399/499 price.

You already got your discount last year.

Now stop being greedy.

That doesn't explain my situation, 2 iPhones on a family plan bought on launch day 7/11/08 neither upgradable until 3/11/10. Not complaining here, just want to understand the process. I'm probably going to upgrade for $499 given the resale value of my 3g.

if you don't qualify for the 199 discount then don't worry, luckily att also gives a smaller discount of a price of 399 which isn't bad at all. I was just about to say they should only make us sign a 1 year contract since a new iphone comes out every year but they already give us a yearly discount so im not really that upset anymore.

I do agree that a long time att customer should be given better "perks" then a new customer who pays att more... I have been with att then cingular and att again... wish i got a discount for being so dam loyal to them... i stick up for them all the time and im sure i make them more business.

I bought my iPhone 3g two weeks or so after launch. I also had the first gen before that.

My account says this:

iPhone Upgrade
As a valued AT&T customer, we can offer you a discounted iPhone upgrade at a higher price, along with a 2-year commitment and an $18 upgrade fee. Please proceed with the online upgrade process for pricing details.

But the iPhone is listed at $499 for the 32gig. I do not see a date anywhere. Where do you see it?

I went to Phone/Device -> Upgrade -> selected my account -> I can see all the phone pricing but no date.

Discount on account

Does anyone know if a discount on your ATT account will prevent you from buying from an Apple store again.
Last year you had to go to ATT store directly.

Has anyone else noticed, or at least mine, says "You may qualify for a full discount on a standard iPhone upgrade on 07/12/2009"

Maybe I am, maybe I'm not, but definitely, it does not say I definitely am!

I have a friend who works for AT&T and the way he explained it to me was as follows:

If you first purchased the original iPhone, you remember that AT&T allowed you the ability to upgrade to the iPhone 3G without any hassle of time. Reason being was because their was no need to recover the subsidized discount they gave you since you paid about full price for it. Second time around with the iPhone 3G, that isn't the case. The regular upgrade would take about 18 months, however, if you owned the original iPhone before having purchased the 3G version, then it is 12 months. There are other factors. Some of which include how many months your bill may have gone unpaid or late, how much your monthly bill comes out too, etc.

Hope I shed some light for those not understanding...

mines up in october, but i'm not planning on upgrading then. i assume that the iphone that they release next year will be much more substantial than the one released this year and i don't want to be not able to get that just because i lacked the patience to wait 9 months or so.
