Oh yeah, it was completely hilarious! I loved it! Peter Sellers was amazing as Dr. Strangelove and that thing with him fighting with his right arm was nuts; had me cracking up the whole time.

Plus, the B-52 pilot, country guy, was also super funny.

What a great movie!

Or when General Turgidson (George C. Scott) got excited about the ratio of women to men when they headed underground. ;)

Watched Next of Kin (1989) forgettable Patrick Swayze vehicle about a Chicago cop from a hill billy family looking for his brother's killer. Liam Neeson plays another hill billy brother.

The character George Scott played was equally hilarious. The facial expressions throughout were amazing in relation to the context of what was going on.

Glad you really enjoyed it, and Peter Sellers as Dr Strangelove - yes, that wonderfully insane - and visually hilarious - struggle with his right arm - was comedy gold. One of my own favourites, brilliant, black, sharp and a really intelligent and witty movie.

I always find the statement “Gentlemen you can’t fight in here, this is the war room” to be a classic from Dr Strangelove, which summed up the whole madness of MAD.

Just took my granddaughters to see "La belle et la bête" or “Beauty and the Beast”

This is NOT the Disney version but by Christophe Gans, a French German coproduction.

Because of their ages I chose to see it in a Dutch Language version.

They loved it, and wanted to stay in their seats to see it again.

I didn't quite understand the deal with his arm. I understand that he's a former Nazi scientist working for the Americans now. Is his arm supposed to represent the fact that he is still faithful to Nazi Germany?

In any case, I really enjoyed the movie also.

Wow...

Erm, $313.00 or EUR 217,89 ?? Makes the £49.99 for a used copy look like a bargain! :D

Seems like I have to dig a little deeper for this one...

Dang. I believe it was called Day of the Maniac in Europe. I know there was a German release under this title prior to the Shriek Show dvd under the All the colours banner.

If you look up Edwige Fenech and/or Sergio Martino, you might find something. Good luck.

I did actually. Strangely the German version is 'only' 28€.. But I've to wait a wee bit on that, spend much too much on films lately. They don't sport the Italian dub either, but I'm not sure if it wasn't presented in Englsih originally anyway. Would be strange though, wouldn't it?

That said, I got curious (and bored at work lol) this morning and checked the US Amazon site for the 'Warhols' (he didn't do a thing regarding the films actually). What about you ordering them in Europe*? Region issues? I ordered lately some Blue Underground ones from the States - shipping isn't really that pricey. I can't justify morally doing that on a regular basis, but some outstanding pieces may be worth it. And I know you'll love those two! Only downside, and I can't really believe it yet, is, while they got shipped two days ago, the estimated delivery date is June 2nd! - The horror! :p

*I can recommend the ones published by Tartan.

The fact that his arm was so used to rising in a semi-permanent Nazi salute - almost as a default setting so often did it rise in his earlier incarnation and life as a scientist working for and supportive of - the Nazis - was meant to represent his deep-seated (uneradicated) Nazi sympathies and his (visible yet) futile attempts to suppress this.

Plus his referring to the President as "Mein Führer" a couple of times and having to correct himself also confirms deep-seated Nazi sympathies.

It stuck me more of an involuntary comic gimmick based on passed association as this what was once expected, not necessarily heart felt. :)

My region free player died within 2 months of getting it and a hassle with the seller so I promptly threw in the towel. So back to region 1 and 0 NTSC again, no European Warhols. :( My days of spending stupid money on films is almost kaput (after Synapse releases those three Argentos they've got in the making: Tenebre, Phenomena and Suspiria.)

The Shriek Show All the Colours had the Italian and English dubs (and English subs for the Italian print.) You can see a couple of scenes on Youtube (not safe for work, but Edwige Fenech movies usually are not safe for work. :D)

Thanks for looking those up.

Veronica Mars (2014)- Drama comedy reminded me of a noir style. I never watched the show (2004-2007) and maybe that would have made a difference, the story was decent, but as it was, it dragged and did not pull me in. Plus Kristen Bell talked just like Sara Jessica Parker and the voice overs sounded like Sex In The City. Ehh...

The show was all right but now dated and I have no desire to see the movie however. It's like they were trying to cash in on the TV franchise.

What's interesting about Veronica Mars was that it was crowd funded on Kickstart. It wouldn't have existed without many fans (I am not one for the record) ponying up cash up front.

The movie was made in the early 1960s. Any Nazi salute - in such a context - was 'heartfelt', believe me (especially as no German movie in those years could have contemplated even beginning to think of showing such a scene).

Mr. Nobody.

It's an interesting, but strange movie.

A boy stands on a station platform as a train is about to leave. Should he go with his mother or stay with his father? Infinite possibilities arise from this decision. As long as he doesn't choose, anything is possible.

Dr Strangelove clearly was alive in WWII, his arm seemed to have a mind of his own, which he fought. Was he fighting it to hide his Nazi worship or because it was involuntary? I'll leave it up to individual interpretation. :)

Just finished Gattaca.

That was was a good flick. Surprised I hadn't seen it sooner.
