One universal truth and that is you never give a woman your credit card. :):)

And here was I thinking that the credit card came as part of the whole gift-wrapped package along with the declaration of undying and eternal love.

(Actually, no, not at all: As a feminist, I am a big and fervent believer in women having their very own credit cards).

Lol. That is a quote from The Island, which technically is not a comedy, but this is humorous. :)

The Sons of Katie Elder (1965) enjoyable movie with John Wayne, Earl Holliman, and Dean Martin about murder and swindle in the Wild West. James Gregory and George Kennedy are the bad guys with a young Dennis Hopper.

I watched 2002's Secretary with James Spader and Maggie Gyllenhaal. I thought they did a good job of portraying the how and why's of an alternate lifestyles. At the end, I found myself happy that these two broken individuals found someone who fit them.

A great and disturbing book, and an intriguing and very well made movie…..along with an intelligent and compelling use of L. van Beethoven's sublime Ninth Symphony. What is there not to like?

I wasn't sure what to expect, but it turns out the movie was quite good. I had some trouble interpreting my feelings in the beginning. After the beginning 20 minutes, the movie really gets into meat of the story. My understanding is there is a big part of the book missing, but overall, great movie.

For anyone who has seen both movies, how would you compare Pacific Rim with Godzilla? Both heavy CGI movies, the same genre and similar story lines, as far as dealing with large monsters, the former contains impressive action sequences. I won't see Godzilla until it streams.

I think my favorite Clint Western is the The Outlaw Josie Wales where Clint is a mortal. ;)

Godzilla focuses on the monsters far less of Pacific Rim. Which is actually not unusual for a Godzilla movie... It's a formula that works well when the "human story" in it is good. Unfortunately this one felt completely generic.

Just started "A Clockwork Orange". Yikes

Have you seen it before? It's a good provocative story. :)

Thanks for the report. Streaming it is destined for. :)

Edge of Tomorrow - I didn't quite understand the ending, but it was overall very well done action flick. Really enjoyable. And the 3D was pretty decent (a couple scenes actually made me flinch).

Labyrinth - I last saw this when I was little, and I had fond memories of it. But now it seems so dated, it definitely didn't age well. I think it was a mistake watching it.

The Conjuring- The scariest movie I have seen in quite some time. And I do not scare easily. James Wan is a terrific horror director, I would recommend paying attention to his future activity.

Xmen Days of Future Past Excellent. Simply wonderful. Stellar performances by Jennifer Lawrence, and Evan Peters, Hugh Jackman, and all the younger generation actors. Wonderful movie.

Evil Dead 2013 Holy crap. I believe that "Overkill" is a great term for this movie. It wasn't scary, but it felt like a Jackass movie, where you cringe from the pain the people are going through. It was absurd. The final scene was dramatically over the top.

I don't know about you guys, but I know where I'm going to be on 8/29/2014. All I have to say, is "hell yeah!" :D

Want some good news? Well, you’ve got it.

The original “Ghostbusters” is headed back to the big screen. Sony Pictures Entertainment announced it will re-release the 1984 comedy-classic in over 700 theaters in commemoration of the film’s 30th anniversary.

“ ‘Ghostbusters’ is still one of our studio’s most beloved franchises,” president of worldwide distribution for Sony Pictures, Rory Bruer, said in a statement. “I was lucky enough to work on the release of the film on its first run, so it’s a real thrill to see that it’s still connecting with audiences everywhere.

“Ghostbusters” will be re-released for a limited time on August 29. Following the limited run the film will be released on Blu-ray as a special 30th anniversary edition. “Ghostbusters II” will also be released on Blu-ray for the first time as a 25th anniversary edition.

“To celebrate this milestone anniversary, we wanted to create something new and collectible for fans,” senior executive VP of worldwide marketing for Sony Pictures Home Entertainment, Lexine Wong, said in a statement. “These new ‘Ghostbusters’ Blu-rays will feature the highest quality presentation along with new content that reflects the rich history of this iconic franchise.”

Some of the new features include never-before-seen deleted scenes from “Ghostbusters II” and interviews with director Ivan Reitman and Dan Aykroyd. The Blu-rays will be available starting September 16.

“Ghostbusters” has a 93-percent worth-your-time rating on OK.com, with an age rating of 11+. “Ghostbusters II” has a 40-percent worth-your-time rating and a 10+ age rating.

I don't like this word; in fact, I have despised it ever since people started using it in the 80s, but it fits. Looking again at the movie trailer, you have to agree: it's awesome.

P.S. God bless you, Harold Ramis.

The Pink Panther (1963)- Love this early Blake Edwards big screen directorial effort about the bumbling Inspector Clouseau (Peter Sellers) chasing the Phantom, a cat burglar, who is after the Pink Panther, a priceless gem. A very 1960's comedy. Great performance by an all star cast including David Niven, a young Robert Wagner, and French actress Capucine. Don't bother with the 2006 Steve Martin remake or just don't have high expectations. I do like Steve Martin in some of his movies, like Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, The Out of Towners remake, and he was not bad in It's Complicated. He had huge shoes to fill in TPP remake. :)

I just watched "Identity".

Pretty good movie. The premise has been done before...but this is done quite well, I thought. Engaging, decently acted, fun twists and turns...

It ain't high art...but a fun movie.

Of course vcr! They sell vhs tapes at goodwill for 50 cents a piece! :)

lol. at least you aren't pirating 'em. Would be cheaper though! :D

I don't own one single vhs tape and never did but to imagine the space filled up by all these movies I own on disc converted onto (multiple) cassettes...the horror!

Haha, understandable. I buy maybe a dozen at a time ($6) and then watch them over the course of a month or so, keep the ones that I REALLY like, and just re-donate the other ones. Not that much room. And I don't like people who illegally download. I know that my method doesn't give the creators any money, but that's not my concern. I just don't like people who take stuff for free. Almost free is much better hahahaha

It's a fine system, really no disrespect! I got too accustomed to multiple subtitles (on/off/on again :D) and languages that I already choose BR over DVD most of the times though. Much more expensive though.
