LOL! I'm the total sucker for these types of movies. You should see my collection!

I'm sure it's quite impressive!

This Island Earth (1955)
Aliens come to Earth seeking scientists to help them in their war.

The Long Long Trailer (1953)- Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz. Comedy that seems closer to a Greek tragedy. I can't believe that guy allowed his wife to talk him into a 40' long trailer that they are going to tow around while he has a traveling job. I could easily imagine the final scene being of a car and trailer gong off the side of a mountain, two screaming faces and a big explosion. :D

I love the Ten Commandments too and have little desire to see the new Exodus film, at least where I have to pay for it. I'll wait for it to hit Netflix someday.

A much wiser choice.

Lol.

I'm a 10C movie fan too. :)

I am nothing if not good for a laugh. And I love John Richardson in 1MYBC...unga bunga binga bunga...:p (actually I've liked him in every film I've seen him in. Not many but they were all fun. )

My Fair Lady (1964)- Best Picture 1964, has to be one of the finest musicals ever. :) I can't believe that Audrey Hepburn was not nominated for an Academy Award. I believe the reason is she did not sing all of her songs. Those that were dubbed, were actually sung by Marni Nixon. Not only that but the guy who sang On The Street Where You Live was dubbed too! link, link2. Julie Andrews won that year for Mary Poppins.

A movie that I have never grown out of is The Sound of Music. Rodgers and Hammerstein's best known musical. I have loved it since 1965. I actually had a crush on Julie Andrews when I was a kid.

Every year around Christmas I watch it. Being an old music major in college has helped me never tire of this wonderful movie.

[edit] Huge fan of Charlton Heston and the Ten Commandments [/edit]

The Amazing Colossal Man (1957)
Lt. Col. Glenn Manning is inadvertently exposed to a plutonium bomb blast at Camp Desert Rock. Though burned over 90% of his body, he survives, and begins to grow in size. As he grows, his heart and circulatory system fail to keep pace with his growth, and he is gradually losing his mind as a result of reduced blood supply to his brain. He reaches 50 feet tall before his growth is stopped. By this time he has become insane. He escapes and wreaks havoc upon Las Vegas before he is finally stopped.

LOL! Poor Glenn... BTW, there's a sequel that came out a year later I think.. 1958?

This would make a great double bill with The Incredible Shrinking Man, also from 1957 (and imho a much better movie), with a screenplay by Richard Matheson.

Thumbs up. It's one of the many classic Sci-Fi/horror movies I have on DVD.

Ahh yes, that one is in my collection too! Perhaps later today or tomorrow to finish the series off. :D

WOW SandboxGeneral, I'm pretty sure I'm way older than you, but you like the same old movies as I do. I'm impressed!

Well, I may have it mentioned previously, but I used to watch these sort of movies as a kid on Saturday afternoons in the 80's. I've grown fond of them, no matter how corny they may be. :)
