I wonder if Radcliffe will last?

I think that he will be living in the shadow of Harry Potter for quite some time. I haven't seem him "perfecting" another role after HP, yet. In fact, there have been some pretty noticeable flops.

Child to adult star is a difficult transition, because in many cases qualities an actor has as a child does not carry over into good adult qualities. Children are hired more for looks than acting abilities. As part of a ensemble, he helped carry the HP franchise. Now he must break out as an adult with talent.

In his defense, he seems to be trying to be different. I haven't seen Horns, but I was interested in doing so. I guess I should not cast judgement since I haven't even seen everything he's done.

Box office flops, or acting flops? I've not seen a single thing he's been in post-Potter. His performances in Equus and (to a lesser extent) How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying were both well received.

What strikes me is just how lucky the HP franchise was in its original casting, ie all three of their random 11 year old leads managed to survive what must have been the weirdest of teenage years while becoming perfectly passable actors.

The percentages are against them. The only other ones I can think of off the top of my head is Kirk Russel, Ron Howard, and Kirsten Dunst.

Freddie Highmore, while still a child, is making a good segue. Bates Motel was a great move on his part. I'm hoping he'll continue

I watched "Leviathan" last night, an art house screening.

Now, it might be argued that this is not an easy movie on a number of levels; for one, it runs for over two and a half hours, at around two hours forty to two hours forty five minutes long.

Moreover, although it is a Russian movie, it is not dubbed. Rather, the characters actually speak Russian (so the movie comes with English language sub-titles).

Most important, of all is the content - this is a bleak, bitter, brilliant tale, savage, hilarious, gripping, epic and deeply dark all at once. Seriously well worth watching.

Bigfoot (2012, SciFi Channel)- Hard to review cause I only watched about 10 min in the middle, other than say it's incredibly bad, the usual SciFi Network fare.

Deliver Us from Evil - I've seen it twice in the past week and while the actor playing the possessed soldier was disappointing, Edgar Ramirez and Eric Bana were excellent together. They kind of reminded me of Jason Miller's priest in Exorcist, lots of good characterization there. (Too bad Scott Derrickson did not cast Edgar as Stephen Strange, he would have been pitch perfect going by his performance here.)

Captain America The Winter Soldier

Maleficient - piece of ... anyway never watching that again.

Also watched Birdman. Very interesting as its all one long tracking shot (hidden transitions) which ups the tension. The subject matter is somewhat self reflexive for Keaton. Overall great film and I can see why it won best picture.

The other day TCM aired Caesar and Cleopatra (1945) with Vivien Leigh and Claude Rains. It was a wonderful film and slightly comical as well. Vivien was fantastic in the role of Cleopatra.

That subject can be its own thread. Kid actors now adults.

Christian Bale did star in Empire of the Sun(1987) as a 12/13 year old

Then there's Drew Barrymore, Ethan Hawke, Natalie Portman, Neil Patrick Harris, Anna Paquin, Jason Bateman, Seth Green, Elijah Wood, Emma Watson, Daniel Radcliffe, Jodie Foster, Elizabeth Taylor, Christina Applegate, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Christopher Walken, Sarah Jessica-Parker, Claire Danes, Kirsten Dunst, Ryan Gosling, Christina Ricci, Leonardo DiCaprio...
