Just finished Star Trek (2009) and probably haven't seen it since 2009, too. To me this movie, and most all of the Star Trek movies are a little more sci-fi action movies and a little less Star Trek. I don't watch the movies that much, though I do own them all, and prefer to watch the TV series, any of them that is.
The brash James T. Kirk tries to live up to his father's legacy with Mr. Spock keeping him in check as a vengeful Romulan from the future creates black holes to destroy the Federation one planet at a time.

I thought this movie was a worthy reboot.

Hunt, it was worthy of a X rating. ;)
First I saw it in the 70s. Since then and especially after "Novecento/1900" and "The Sheltering Sky" I became a big fan of Bertolucci.
Enjoyable, a good story?

The influence of The Movie Thread, just cranked up Star Trek (2009), it’s a bit over the top in an acceptable fashion. I enjoyed it. :D

Outstanding action, great characters, intriguing, plausible story, the casting director gets kudos looking for qualities that these young actors in appearance, personalities, and accents share with those that came before them. Karl Urban, Simon Pegg, and Zoe Saldana do great Bones, Scotty, and Uhura. Chris Pine nails his Kirk portrayal. I like Eric Bana as Nero. I’m saddened that the actor who played Chekov (Anton Yeltsen) died in a 2016 accident.

Just watched Star Trek: Into Darkness (2013) which I haven't seen since 2013 and I had the exact same thought about the ending action sequences, "over-the-top".

I'll catch up with Star Trek: Beyond tomorrow and post some more detailed thoughts in the Star Trek thread afterwards about these contemporary Star Trek movies.
After the crew of the Enterprise find an unstoppable force of terror from within their own organization, Captain Kirk leads a manhunt to a war-zone world to capture a one-man weapon of mass destruction.

...but I was able to maintain my suspension of disbelief (for the 2009 movie) :D:D

I've liked all the new Trek movies. Great stories, great casting, really good actors. I went in with some trepidation, being a long time fan of the TV and movie series (except the Kirk fights god movie) but was pleasantly surprised that I really liked them. I really hope they get Pine and Hemsworth to get over themselves and get on with the next movie. I really would like to see a new one!

Pine is now saying he hopes to come back. I like Chris, Karl and Zachary (especially Urban who nails McCoy and then some. John Cho is fun too). I am not a Simon Pegg fan though so I’ll skip seeing Beyond. Ditto if Tarantino does a Trek film, no desire to see.

Hope they get to do this fourth one.

Imo, Star Trek Beyond was unworthy, so if they do another, they need to step up their game,

Enjoyable? Yes in terms of execution, art, design, direction, acting, but it's not a "feel good" movie. It's outstanding, if you're a fan of film, it's kind of a must see.

Don't get too caught up with the R vs. X rating, it's got adult themes/language, sex, it's a touch intense for a "mainstream" film, but it's not visually explicit, it's more emotionally impactful. I've had weekends crazier than anything in this movie ... :D

I wasn't thrilled with it either. Yeah, it had some good action scenes but talk about rushing the character development.
Offering Kirk a promotion to admiral that fast! Just to have the will he or won't he moment. Wasn't Spock also thinking of leaving star fleet? Just give me a good story and action. Not every film has to have these big emotion wannabe moments.

Just finished Star Trek: Beyond (2016) which I hadn't seen since I saw it in the theater in 2016. Of the contemporary Star Trek movies this one is probably my favorite one.
The crew of the USS Enterprise explores the furthest reaches of uncharted space, where they encounter a new ruthless enemy, who puts them, and everything the Federation stands for, to the test.

Fire And Ice(1983)

A forgotten swords & sorcery animated movie from the early 80s. Not really a fan of the technique used(rotoscoping?), but it was an entertaing throw back to the 80s.

One of my first cartoon movies I ever saw. The animation is just ok, but man I still dig it! Between this, Lord of the Rings, Heavy Metal, and Wizards are some of my favorites from that time frame.

Searching (2018). What a wonderful, engaging, original, smart movie! It’s a roller coaster of emotions all played in a smart way. I didn’t have much of an expectation for this movie, but it’s definitely one of the best, if not the best, movie I watched in the theaters in 2018.

Good lord Hereditary was one of the most original, genuinely freaky scary movies I’ve even seen.

Got to disagree on this one. I felt cheated multiple times during the movie. Just my 2c, just happy you liked it.

Haven't see it yet but I always hate when a film ends with an in your face message like see! this is still going on! Remember Natural born Killers, ended with footage of OJ. If the director and writer did their jobs, you would get that message on your own and not have to have it spelled out for you. (which is why I hated the end of Saving Private Ryan, wasn't real footage but still was the director not trusting his own audience)

This is the main sin of Blakkklansman. I found the movie quite amazing, funny, engaging, and interesting. Good acting, and quite an interesting (true) story. I especially enjoyed the fact that although Spike Lee clearly shows how ridiculously awful the KKK is, he also shows how unreasonable the Black Panthers are on a practical level. Up to that point (spoiler) the message was quite amazing. The moment he put Trump’s partial speech on I felt like he shockingly narrowed his overall message and nailed it to a specific moment in political time. His movie, his decision, but I think he honestly risked to ruin a very important message just to have a small shock factor based on current events.
