Just caught Danny Boyle's Steve Jobs (2015) last night on the TV for the first time.
I have no idea about how accurate, or inaccurate the film is, as I haven't read all that much about Jobs. But from what I have and know about the man, I could see pretty much all of what we see in the film actually happening. The acting was pretty good, Fassbender usually is, but what really surprised me was the work Seth Rogen put in as Woz. A pleasant surprise and a nice departure from his usual work.
Sorkin's writing was also good, and without first knowing who the writer was it took about five minutes to figure that out. The man sure can write, but kind of like with Tarantino, the mannerisms are pretty glaring if you know to look for them. Not saying that's a bad thing, just making note of it.
All in all an entertaining couple of hours. For those who have seen it, how's the one with Ashton Kutcher as Jobs?
Have you watched Pirates of the Silicon Valley?
I have not! I've read a little about it here and there, but have indeed yet to see it. Should I?
Absolutely! I think it's the best one about Steve Jobs and Bill Gates. It's absolutely not hagiographic, and it will show the good and awful sides of both. Gates liked, and apparently so did Jobs.
Noah Wyle's portrayal of Jobs is so good that Steve Jobs himself called him on stage for a Macworld in 1999
It's a 1999 movie made for TV, so don't expect anything too artistic or too much CGI![]()
Looks like I got some searching to do!
CGI, flash, and other assorted pizzazz do have their place in entertainment, but biopics, in my opinion at least, are rarely it, so this is a plus as well!
Thanks for the recommendation!
Minority Report (2002)- Phillip K. Dick is everywhere. Solid story, outstanding Tom Cruise SciFi movie about the Precrime Division of Washington DC.

The soundtrack is simply great!
90% on Rotten Tomatoes.
One thing to keep in mind is that the movie was done before Jobs became the "coolest" guy in current culture.
Tom Cruise has a hit and miss reputation, but has found himself in many enjoyable movies. Off the top of my head:Great movie, one of my favorites.
- Risky Business
- Edge of Tomorrow
- A Few Good Men
- Mission Impossible (most of them)
- Rainman
- Knight and Day
- War of the Worlds
- The Last Samurai
- Tropic Thunder
Butting in here, I have not. I think you two might enjoy Halt and Catch Fire, though.Have you watched Pirates of the Silicon Valley?

I don’t know if I’ve seen that. What genre is it?Magnolia (in my top 5), and possibly his best acting IMHO.
Just saw the trailer for The Highwaymen. Good lord does it look amazing.

Did you see my list?I didn’t care for Oblivion, and you left out Edge of Tomorrow.
Fun movie. Here are my two little problems: 1. IIRC, it takes place fairly early in the 21st right? Like around 2020. And Washington DC is totally transformed into a city out of the far future. Huge buildings with tracks on them, and autonomous car zipping up and down them. Remember thinking no way we can build that much that fast even if we get the tech working. But more trouble some than that was 2. Tom Cruise being one of, if not, the best detective in the unit. And he says "why would I kill this guy, I have no idea who he is, this makes no sense." But we know his kid was killed. It doesn't take a genius to figure out he would kill someone if he finds out who killed his child. He even says at one point "I think of that guy every day of my life", you know, cause SS thinks we are too stupid to figure that out on our own.Minority Report (2002)- Phillip K. Dick is everywhere. Anyway, I get stuck on little/big things like that sometimes.
