The Pink Panther (1963)- Quitessential and brilliant 1960s slapstick comedy, directed by Blake Edwards filmed in Paris, Rome, Los Angeles, and Cortina d’Ampezzo.

I always wondered if the French resented Peter Sellers playing a clutzy and rather stupid French Inspector? :D

Ah!
“Meglio stasera che domani o mai!!!”

(BTW, Cortina d’Ampezzo is a beautiful, albeit expensive vacation place! Highly recommended!)

It was ok. Funny and quirky but not very original. Basic road trip movie.

How To Train Your Dragon: Hidden World (2019). I can’t say I loved it, but it’s definitely a well made, charming, and lovely movie. It starts kinda slow, then proceeds at full speed. Lots of laughs and quite a few poignant moments.
I’d give it 8 out of 10 stars.

Thor (2011)- On my list of the best comic based movies. No idea of how true this is to the comics, but it is a very creative blend of events in Asgard that results in Thor being banished to Earth with outstanding drama, action, and humor, creatively woven in a very entertaining story with depth as Tror seeks redemption.

Natalie Portman is really in the zone, lighting up screen with her portrayal of Jane Foster.
What happened to Jane in Ragnarok? https://screenrant.com/thor-ragnarok-natalie-portman-jane-foster-breakup/

This link reveals she could have had a much larger role in the franchise: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jane_Foster_(comics)

Thor: The Dark World (2013)- Thor and Jane are a thing. Oh well, love does not always last. This story is kind of helter skelter, not as visually appealing, but at least Loki is set up for Ragnarok.

I'm hoping to watch Her, sometime this week, if not the weekend.

I just watched The Truman Show this past Saturday. Really liked it.

Sleepy Hollow (1999)- One of my top two Halloween movies. The other is Hocus Pocus with Practical Magic, a close third. This movie is the perfect conversion from a short story, to Disney cartoon, the setting, atmosphere, music score, and Johnny Depp are fantastic. In a brief appearance, Christopher Walken is perfect. The Hell Horse, some CGI, but mostly practical effects and live action, and the Headless Horseman are impressive.

If Carrey’s In it, I don’t watch it. Can’t stand the guy.

I used to feel that way. I like Dumb and Dumber though, I'll admit it did take me awhile... I also like Yes Man.

Kevin Spacey(even before the scandal) and Billy Bob Thornton are my two bugaboo actors. I don't usually believe them.

What movie have you seen and more importantly was it any good? :)

Watched Shutter Island, a psychological thriller. It just did not click for me. Without giving the story away, it took a turn I did not expect, which is not necessarily bad, but the execution was below my expectations.

On the other hand we just finished up the Lord of the Rings trilogy for the umpteenth time. You don't see epics like this very often. :)

If you ever wondered how they made 6' tall actors hobbit size, besides using short doubles for long shots, this is another method- forced perspective.

Watched "I, Robot" these days. Remembered myself this cool story...

Instant Family. Totally predictable, but pretty well done. Decent cast. On a 16 hour flight, being away from family for 3 weeks, I cried a bit. My only problem is that everyone is totally reasonable, even when they are being unreasonable. And then they always agree that they were being unreasonable.

Bohemian Rhapsody. As a child of the 70s and early 80s I was aware of music, but not always aware of why. The music of Queen was always there. Overall, I thought this was probably a pretty good depiction of what really took place.

Perfect Bid. I'm not sure, but I believe I've seen episodes with Ted on it back in the day.

I have to know which Jim Carrey movie made you puke your guts up? :)

You may not know what you are missing! Now I realize this may completely destroy any reputation I have worked so hard to earn in the Mac Rumors forums as a film critic, but it’s just too important that these eternal truths about the human soul, they should not be overlooked! I besiege you to reconsider. Warning: serious Dumb and Dumber spoilers! :D

Emotional drama

Redemption

I need to reread “I,Robot” to remember how different the movie was. As I recall, the movie took the basis from the series of short stories (?) and ran with it.

Both of those actors have film presences. Spacey was in the groove in House of Cards (that never seemed to collapse) ;) and he also impressed me in American Beauty. Thornton can be hot and cold. I liked him in Armageddon and Monster’s Ball, plus his stint in Fargo (TV show)

I loved some of his stuff back in the day. Some still makes me laugh but most, I feel embarrassed for myself how funny I thought it was. It just doesn't hold up.
Carrey’s trademark was slapstick, physical, sometimes toilet humor comedy. My impression is his career started fizzling when he tried to transition to more mainstream, comedy and serious roles, while I recognize he could not do his original thing forever. The Truman Show did nothing for me.

I liked the Truman Show when it came out. I haven't seen it since. I do remember him doing more serious roles but he picked some really bad scripts. He was ok, but the movies were awful. Some movie about a number being cursed....

I disconcur.

To each his own.

Bill Bob + Fargo ... Well that was brilliant.
That is the one time I can tolerate him.

The Favorite (2018)- Queen Anne and the competition for her affection between two women of the court. Labeled as a black comedy, I found no real elements of humor. Not really my cup of tea. Olivia Colman, who played Queen Anne deserved the Academy Award for Best Actress

Vox Lux was terrible.

I'm completely down for a good abstract/weird artsy film.. good being the keyword here.
