Conan The Barbarian(1982)
I don't seem to be getting tired of watching this one. The 'practical effects' make me appreciate it even more. Phenomenal soundtrack as well.

I never fully appreciated the number of sci-fi/fantasy movies Arnie has been in. Cool stuff.

What a classic!
I visit Robert E. Howard house in Cross Plains, TX almost every year during the Robert E Howard Days. Good BBQ stuff in the area.

Crawl (2019). A Florida hurricane, a swimmer, and alligators. Basically, that is the entire plot. This is one example of a bad movie that is well executed to become entertaining enough for a couple of hours.

I'll chime in once more. I highly recommend The Whole Wide World (1999) with Vincent D'Onofrio as Robert E Howard and a young Renee Zellweger as his girlfriend Novalyne Price Ellis. It's a biopic based on Novalyne Price Ellis' autobiography. The movie is surprisingly well made (it won quite a few awards) and it tells a good story of REH's troubled mind.

A small piece of trivia (from wiki): When auditioning for the film Jerry Maguire, Zellweger met director Cameron Crowe several times but had trouble convincing him that she could play "a 20-something woman" rather than a girl. This was solved by Zellweger's agent sending Crowe a tape of The Whole Wide World.

If you haven't already, watch it with the commentary track. It's John Milius and Arnie just shooting the s***, often even about the film, and in general just Arnie narrating the whole thing. Very entertaining, and often (perhaps unintentionally) hilarious.

Moonstruck (1987)- A most wonderful romantic comedy. The cast, especially Cher is in the groove! I can watch something like this and almost believe it’s real. That is the magic of good movies.;)

A man who can’t control his woman is funny - the fateful worlds of Johnny Cammareri. :)

We rented Detective Pikachu & Hellboy from Redbox.

Detective Pikachu wasn't bad, shows how hot Ryan Reynolds is now, as his snark still hasn't gotten tired. It's going to be a staple on regular tv when it makes it to tv.

Only made it half way thru Hellboy. I like the direction they took the character and his relationship with his dad, but the movie seems all over the place. The movie can't seem to settle on a tone, or blend together the various elements it wants into something cohesive. Will try to finish today and possibly give a thought or two on it.

Taxi Driver (1976)- We did not like this. By mutual agreement we did not finish it, downer of a story. I don’t actually remember if I saw this in 1976. The hint that this normal, handsome, marine veteran, has a screw loose is when he takes a nice girl to a porno movie on their first date.

You talk’n to me?

It's generally regarded as a classic.

And it is.

I love this film.

Iron Man (2008)- Great Marvel Universe movie. Outstanding CGI! Tony Stark sees the errors of his ways as an arms dealer. Robert Downey Jr was born to be Iron Man. :) I think Gwyneth Paltrow may have undermined her career in the role of Pepper Potts, the role is on the plain side, or underplayed. I just think that was how the role was written and don’t blame her. Jeff Bridges plays a really good corporate bad guy. In anticipation of watching IM2, I miss Terrance Howard who did not make it to Iron Man 2 as Rhodey.

Watched "Alita:Battle Angel" last night. I rather liked it. Good action movie with a good story. Great FX, too. Only thing that bothered me a bit was the cliffhanger ending. Here's hoping they make a 2nd movie. I do want to see where it goes.

Once Upon a Time in Hollywood (2019) by Quentin Tarantino.
I have to say, this is probably Tarantino's best movie and yet it feels the least Tarantino among the Tarantino's movies. Without a shadow of a doubt, this is Tarantino's most sophisticated piece of work.
No spoilers, but one should familiarize first with the homicide of Sharon Tate by some of the Manson's followers and then watch the movie.
At the cost of sounding blasphemous, at times this felt like a David Lynch movie. Some "trolling" is evident, and some weirdness hits at the right spot. Some of the scenes are incredibly long; certain viewers might find this upsetting, but I loved it especially when DiCaprio's character was involved. However, Brad Pitt is the true star of the movie, he really lights this work up. As usual the soundtrack was amazing, and the style was incredibly unique (esp. the "old" western movie scenes with "old style" acting mixed with new camera methods).
Good job Mr. Quentin Tarantino.

EDIT: Side note. Usually when an Italian character appears on scene in American movies, the Italian language is butchered into a messy mix of Italian, Spanish, and Portuguese. To my pleasant surprise, the Italian language spoken in this movie is simply perfect.

Only Mine (2019)- Watchable crime drama, about a boyfriend who becomes a stalker. Loosely based on a real event, emphasis on extremely loosely. Watch it first and read about it after. ;)

All star cast, but parts of the movie are showing their age. View attachment 852723
I haven't seen it in maybe 2 years but it's pretty damn good. Especially because the entire film was based on true events. I realized last week I've never seen Syriana or Munich. I thought I had. Bond and some quality films aside, I don't think we'll ever witness a good military thriller or spy drama the rest of our lives. Cheap thrills are what gets people motivate now. Films like Pixels or the Emoji Movie proved how bad the market was and is.
