A Quiet Place 2 - I really enjoyed the first one so I was hoping this would be good, but I was disappointed. It wasn't terrible, but it wasn't that good either.

That’s a bummer. I really enjoyed the first one as well, I was actually looking forward to streaming the second one this weekend. But that’s just usually how it goes, sequels generally never can match the original success of the first film. Sometimes it’s due to different producers, awkward script writing or just in general, bad acting.

Haha! You're the one who peddled the gossip. You can't just make things up to fit your own narrative.

Now you're just making things up. Nobody said that.

Again, nobody said that.
You're the only one who seems fixated on this.

I'll leave you with this - Best not to gossip!

Why don't you reply to this with a movie you recommend and let's discuss that?

Premium Rush, for the biking action. Riding a fixie isn't easy. No brakes? No gears? The only way to stop is to use your legs to stop the cranks from turning? Not these bad knees. I got kind of a crush on Vanessa. *shrug* But loved the bike action...

Pulp Fiction (1994)- Brilliant possibly Tarantino’s best, most creative movie, but I’ve not seen all of his movies. Did see Kill Bill Vol 1&2, Django,Once Upon A Time in Hollywood, that WWII alt-reality movie ;), and Hateful Eight.

Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (2004)- Keeps getting better.
Dementors are actually scary… One of the best depictions of time travel I can remember, but there are still paradoxes. Gary Oldman has a presence. The scene at the Shrieking Shack is outstanding.

Went to the theater and watched this one today. I was pleasantly surprised as I usually don't expect much from M. Knight Shyamalan these days. I really enjoyed this.

So I went to see this. Very exciting if a bit silly in places. Interestingly an almost entirely female film apart from Ray Winston's preposterous Russian accent and William Hirt's blink and you miss him role. The first feminist Marvel Avenger film?

I think we could call Captain Marvel as the first feminist Marvel film. Yes, there were men in the cast, but the entire movie is a montage to "women can kick just as much if not more butt than men." Not saying I didn't enjoy it though :)

I honestly love Marvel films.

Watched "Out of Africa" last night, as somehow I'd missed it during the original theatrical release. Lovely movie, fantastic cinematography and beautiful scenery, wonderful music. Meryl Streep and Robert Redford -- what more could one ask? I enjoyed the film; initially I was concerned at its length but once watching it I became so absorbed that I didn't notice how long it actually is. Some inaccuracies and cinematic liberties taken with the actual history, but no matter, it made for a compelling, interesting story set in a time now long past in an intriguing environment which has also changed significantly over the years.

I knew this day would come, a second watching of the series:
Harry Potter and The Sorcerer’s Stone (2001)- Philosopher’s Stone in UK. Magical from the start. Music, visuals, and direction really compliment this story. My first exposure was this book I borrowed from an English friend’s son. :)

Harry Potter and The Chamber of Secrets (2002)- wow the kids grew. Dobby, parsel tongue, big snake, spiders, wonderful performance by Kenneth Branagh as Narcissist Gilderoy Lockheart, author of Magical Me, guest incompetent Professor of Defense Against the Dark Arts and a perfect villain Jason Isaacs as Luscious Mafoy.

I must have watched them a few more times than that.

Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (2007)- Introduces the real villain of the series, the vile, sadistic, giggling fascist Dolores Umbridge.

A crisis at the Ministry of Magic, You Know Who is back and the Ministry is in denial, neutralized, infiltrated, and/or coconspirators. Death Eaters crawling out of the woodwork and then there is the Boy Who Lived, YKW’s obsession.

The Hobbit: Unexpected Journey. I also am bored.

It's almost 4 hours. wow.

And some of the stuff I don't recall from the actual novel. Where did they get this stuff from?

I started to rewatch this too recently, and gave it up for the same reason. I kept taking breaks and realized it wasn't holding my attention.

3/5 Radagast, mentioned in passing in The Hobbit, character was not needed and added nothing to the film IMHO.

2/5 What the hell!?!?

That scene where they are all fighting Smaug??? Utter c.ock and bollocks. That part/chapter of the story where Bilbo has his encounter with Smaug, alone, is perfect and was in no need of "punching up".

Tauriel? Good God. The whole story arc about her and Kili... why? And that part about Kili being left behind in Laketown and the orcs attacking them???

The novel itself stands alone as a great story and was in no need of embellishment from Mr. Jackson.

There are more things to complain about but I feel no need to go into further detail.

I'll watch part 3 tomorrow but so far all I'm seeing is an ode to Peter Jackson's hubris.

That whole trilogy was a travesty in my opinion. They took a 300 page book that required one 3 hour movie to tell and turned it into a 9 hour monstrosity. I watched them once and have never had the urge to watch them again. I've seen bits and pieces here and there and it's just awful. Gollum was the best bit but unfortunately didn't have a huge part in the book/movies. I wish Guillermo Del Toro stayed on as director - I'm sure it would have been much better. He only had two movies planned and would have likely stuck more to the novel. Jackson admittedly didn't have a plan and this is what we got.
