At first I did not like Skyfall, but then changed my mind... :)
Daniel Craig's era I'd rate Casino Royale & Skyfall as the best, the other leads;
  • Sean Connery - From Russia with Love & Goldfinger
  • George Lazenby - 007 On Her Majesty's Secret Service
  • Roger Moore - The spy Who Loved me & For Your Eyes Only
  • Timothy Dalton - The Living Daylights & License to Kill
  • Pierce Brosnan - Goldeneye & Tomorrow Never Dies
For the most part all the Bond films are good, some are just better than others. With such a wide variety you can easily pick one to suit the mood :) The smart thing is EON Productions doesn't look to pump out a new Bond film every 12 months or so. Rather they take stock and deliver a good experience for the audience something many others could learn from...

What no David Niven from the ORIGINAL Casino Royale? 🤪

I'm pretty picky. Sean Connery set an almost unbeatable standard. Daniel Craig beat aspects of that standard on the basis of physicality and character. I'd have to rewatch On Her Majesty's Secret Service. Roger Moore kind of made Bond into a joke. It might have been Brosnan who jumped off a plateau diving after a plane that was diving, and caught up with it...😳

Sen [sic] Connery set an almost unbeatable standard.

I sort of agree. Sean Connery was the James Bond I remember while growing up and did become the icon for 007 in my mind for a long time. But later I did come to realize a Scottish accent and James Bond was a little off.

Roger Moore was the worst. To much of a joke and way to visually physically imposing for my impression of an ideal Bond. Bond needs to be suave in a tux vs physical intimidating.

David Niven in Casino Royale was a more believable Bond than Moore in any of his movies.

In many respects the Bond films have been a reflection of their times, hence why some are simply wild and whacky viewed with the lens of today.

Each lead no doubt brought their own flair to the character, however the overarching direction the franchise has taken over the years is firmly in the hands of EON Productions.

agree. 'no time to die' was … well, overblown & forgettable.
he died.
bummer.
what's next - jane bond?

It was Daniel Craig's idea to kill Bond, he told the producers he would only do the character if he could kill him. That is according to Craig himself. And now he says he thinks they will just start again and 'reset' Bond a bit like they did with him, only Bond was never killed before...

No Time To Die was just stupid and ludicrous, poor writing and wasted the talents of many actors and actresses. Feel sorry for Christopher Waltz being in that one.

Spectre was good though as was Skyfall.

Shamefully I enjoyed Bronson as Bond.

As ever time will tell. Hopefully EON will act wisely, personally I'd prefer them to leave it be than produce weak garbage loaded with agenda like so many others have done of late. Dont have high expectations given No Time To Die as that should have been Daniel Craig's swan song and it should have been a lot better.

Those that enjoyed the Daniel Craig era this worth a watch.
Also offers some insight as to why some of the films stumbled and others excelled.

I like Pierce Brosnan myself with Goldeneye being the standout of his tenure. Admittedly I liked his portrayal of Bond more back in the day, such is the passage of time...

I liked the Bronson films as they were the fun dumb crazy gadget filled Bond films I love. A crazy megalomaniac with a mad idea to take over the world. Or have a monopoly on global news media. But Skyfall was great too and had no gadgets apart from a 'radio'.

Casino Royale (1954)
Not technically a film being a television adaptation. Broadcasted live in 1954 as an episode of the anthology series Climax! The episode was the first attempt at a screen adaptation of a James Bond novel. Originally produced in colour, however only the black & white kinescope of the live broadcast survives with a runtime of 53 minutes.

Flipping channels on the television and found Mortdecai. Never heard of it before and it turned out to quite amusing. Johnny Depp playing a sort of a Dudley Moore character from Arthur, with a little art world mystery plot folded in. I’m not a big Johnny Depp fan, but this was a real good match him.

Not great but much better than the online reviews implied. A fun pleasant surprise that held my interest. Evidently a bomb at the box office ($60M budget and $7.7M US box office gross). Some of the dialogue was VERY funny but in a totally juvenile way.
