Wonder if there will be or current movies filming that will be about what is happening now all over in the US. It would be interesting if done well and at least close to realistic. No movie is ever real scene by scene. Though I am not in that industry so not sure. Sorry if this is a little off topic.

Frankenstein (2025)- Seems well produced, but I hate this version of Frankenstein as an un-dieing super monster, a story that plays fast and lose with what science is plausibly capable of, versus delving into pretty hardcore supernatural. I prefer the sympathetic abomination. :)
Disclaimer: Did not finish, so not only I may have missed something, but my impression might be skewed. Sometimes remakes run too far away from the original story, and viewers vested in the original story might have difficulty accepting.

Hmm, I’m 63 and watched this with my 21 year old son last night , actually it was engaging enough that I watched it to the end without sleeping!!
Ha ha.
Honestly I give it a 7 of 10, not great, but not sucky either. He enjoyed it too.
Different enough from other remakes.
After all, how many ways can Frankenstein be retold?

A Nightmare on Elm Street (1984)
1764208944405.png

Teenager Nancy Thompson must uncover the dark truth concealed by her parents after she and her friends become targets of the spirit of a serial killer with a bladed glove in their dreams, in which if they die, it kills them in real life.

The infamous slasher from the eighties. 41 years on, one that will keep you awake... “Whatever you do, don’t fall asleep.”

We watched Stone of Destiny, a film about the, sadly temporary, recovery of the Stone of Scone from Westminster Cathedral back to Scotland at Christmas, 1950.

Nice characters, plot mostly adhering to history, no language (other than a possible Gaelic curse muttered under the breath when they broke the stone...).

A truly pleasant, relaxing, uplifting film.

PS, the Stone was permanently returned to Scotland in 1996, and was lent back to England for the coronation of Charles III.

Hellraiser (1987)
1764426613619.png

A woman discovers the newly resurrected, partially formed, body of her brother-in-law and lover. She starts killing for him to revitalize his body and escape the demonic beings that are pursuing him after he escaped their underworld.

What's your pleasure?... The twisted mind of Clive Barker truly came up with something wonderfully morbid and disturbing with "Hellraiser" An alter reality that can be called on, bringing the Cenobites into your reality which are nightmare fuel. If into the genre Hellraiser is a must watch, while there is an entire franchise of films for me only the first two films standout & Hellraiser: Judgment (2018) which forms a fair trilogy...

Hellbound: Hellraiser II (1988)
1764430568738.png

Kirsty is brought to an institution after the horrible events of Hellraiser (1987), where the occult-obsessive head doctor resurrects Julia and unleashes the Cenobites and their demonic underworld.

Hellraiser was always going to be a hard act to follow, equally the 2nd film delivers with a bigger budget & effects. Expands on the original without deviating from the core premise. All in all a worthy sequel that delivers...

Hellraiser: Judgment (2018)
1764546974953.png

Detectives Sean and David Carter are on the case to find a gruesome serial killer terrorizing the city. Joining forces with Detective Christine Egerton, they dig deeper into a spiralling maze of horror that may not be of this world.

Not great, but not bad yet rather neatly rounds out the first two films. Rest of the franchise is just cheap shock horror that isn't very shocking nor horrifying...

Watched Freakier Friday, Good grief it is awful! The typical British family being represented by a Philippine father actor and an Asian American daughter actress both with THE worst put on English accents I’ve ever heard in a film! Utterly dreadful. And an awful story and script, well basically an exact carbon copy of the last one just with more people.

On the flip side saw this on Netflix and I recommend it, good innocent enjoyable film:

My least favourite Arnie film. Can’t believe they are doing a remake. Are there no original ideas anymore?
Certainly not his best ...
I had to look it up, the 2025 remake was release just over month ago and it doesn't seem to be doing great ... I'll wait til it shows up in one of my streaming services, I do like some of the cast, eg Josh Brolin, William Macy

Dark City (1998)
1765091645451.png

A man struggles with memories of his past, which include a wife he cannot remember and a nightmarish world no one else ever seems to wake up from.

Dark City is definitely a one of a kind movie. There's no other in the science fiction genre that's similar to it. It stands alone. Only negative is Jennifer Connelly should never have sung Sway, she didn't murder the track but it's a weak & feeble rendition...
