Strange Days (1996)
View attachment 2588334
One of the best big-budget sci-fi films to never reach a big audience. Written and produced by James Cameron and expertly directed by Kathryn Bigelow, more noir than actual sci-fi. Has a tremendous atmosphere throughout, this is
cyberpunk...

Love that movie. One of my all time favourites.

And Juliette Lewis' cover of PJ Harvey's Hardly Wait is just sublime:

Watched Thunderbolts last night.

Does anybody else think the ending a bit of a fizzle?

Please answer Yes | No | It was Marvel, of course it was brilliant!!!

We are going to have to watch Avatar: Fire and Ash when it comes out, in spite of its equivocal reviews.
This is because part of it is based on the Bainings Fire Dance, from East New Britain, PNG.
My wife comes from near there.

James Cameron has spent some time around New Ireland and New Britain in PNG. He tested his deep-sea submersible in the trench to the west of New Ireland.

In Avatar, some of the 'plants' in the forest are actually re-imaginings of tropical underwater creatures. In Avatar: The Way of Water, much of the shallow water environment is based on the coral reefs around those islands.

The Ring (2002)
1766753898316.png

A journalist investigates a mysterious videotape which seems to cause the death of anyone one week to the day after they view it. Most western remakes of far eastern horror are diluted rubbish and barely worth your time to watch. The Ring from 2002 is a very different affair being beautifully nuanced, goes deeper and expands on the original. Produced, directed & acted by an accomplished team, lot of small details that all add up in time...

That movie is a worthy horror film as it gave me the heebie-jeebies.:)

On Christmas Eve I watched my usuals: "The Holiday" (a definite chick-flick with Kate Winslet, Jack Black, Cameron Dias, and Jude Law) and my favorite "Love, Actually." I prepared the salad for Christmas dinner while watching these and then I had some time so I watched "High Fidelity" with John Cusack, which I used to really like, but for some reason it didn't sit well with me that night.

All great films!

Good film, seen it before, enjoyable.

IMG_0068.jpeg

The classic, a legendary film in cinema IMO. Done really well too.

IMG_0067.jpeg

Another excellent classic. Throughly enjoyable.

IMG_0066.jpeg

Enjoyed this one too, better then the second one I felt and really good strong acting too.

IMG_0065.jpeg

Odd and daft and predictable, same as the other Boyle films then really lol.

IMG_0064.jpeg

Not bad, enjoyed this one even though I wasn’t expecting to. Still can’t beat the original film though for me.

Rubbish! As an F1 fan I found it really poor to be honest, totally unrealistic too, and the BS ‘you get a sense when everything is quite’ rubbish.. Please. More annoying they roped in the real F1 drivers and teams and even team principles in the film also. Glad I waited for it to be included in my subscription before watching it.

Enjoyed it! I am ashamed to say I enjoyed it, and as annoying and OTT as Jack Black can be, his persona fitted right in with this film I felt. Good one for kids too. And I have never played the game either lol.

My yearly Christmas Film to watch.

IMG_0071.jpeg

Need I say anything? Cult classic and best of the series, although I do like Die Hard 4.0.

Good film, old style fun.

I totally agree on F1, it was simply unrealistic and the scenes repeated themselves over and over, sure glad I didn't pay for it, well, I did, as part of my obile plan ;(
