I'd like some more textured faces. A metallic face or two to look like a high-end mechanical watch. Another with a textured paper look (like wedding-invitation paper), with Roman numerals. Maybe a denham face to match my jeans, with numbers scrawled in a red marker pen. Maybe a leather face made to look like the time and complications are etched on.

Oh, and how about a "colour blindness test" watch face?

I also love the existing animated image faces (butterfly, flow and jellyfish), so I'd welcome more along similar lines.

Alas, you make too much sense. You could be right that Apple wants to put forth a consistent image (of their design, not ours), at least at first. Hopefully it won't be too long before they open up watchfaces to developers.

...

Much as I would like to play with the displays I mentioned, I agree – Apple will want very tight control of aesthetics (possibly more than with any other product) and only very slowly add new ones. 3rd party will likely not have access for a long time – if ever.

I really want an analog watch face with 24h support (without having to change my phone into 24h). My current watch looks like this

It might be hard to see in the photo but where some watches typically display the minute value this one displays the 24h time value.

This would be classic. Its the right shape too.

Nixie tubes!

As for possible face ideas, here again is an Android Wear user-designed face download repository display case, which might give readers some ideas. I've set it to default to most popular square designs (although many of them also work with round faces, and thus that's the first pic you see).

Thanks! That's why you're not allowed to use different springboard themes. I can understand why. There's dozens of new android models each year but only one model iPhone(well two now) each year.

Hey nice idea posting those. Interesting.

For example, maybe this Fall (with iOS9 perhaps?), they'll announce/release a Watch Face Store, where users can purchase new faces. These faces though, would all be approved by Apple with very strict guidelines and standards.

We'll find out what Apple plans for iOS9 during their developer conference, WWDC, June 8-12.

The faces look great, but what new ones would you like to see?

Being a Disney nut, I'd like to see faces of other Disney characters.

I vote for Disney too! Hopefully they don't charge any more than $5 per face. #

Biggest reason to jailbreak for me. So I can add custom watches faces (Like the moto 360 lets you do)

Heres some ideas. http://facerepo.com/app/

Sure, it's your watch, you should be allowed to do it - but gosh-damn, there's some really really tacky ones there - this is my biggest problem with android, such bad and fragmented design, at least with Material that's being fixed.

But I don't think, at least initially, apple would want people to share/photograph their beautiful device, with that crap... hence also the lack of third party straps with first party sales.

I would love to use a photo too, like have someone's face as the face on my watch with the clock hands spinning around the nose. Lol

IMO Disney would make a lot more money charging 99¢ per face and offering dozens if not over a 100 or more. At $5 a face people would be reluctant to buy but for 99¢ they would buy 1 or 2 a week.

Star Wars would be great with light sabers

Disney could make a (small) fortune just releasing 1 a week through Christmas (or longer).
