What should be in iOS 6 next year?

Ability to see only unread emails (MailEnhancer offers this)
Multiple email signatures (MailEnhancer also offers this)
Ability to disable / enable: wifi, bluetooth, brightness, airplane mode very easily...just like SBSettings.
Ability to watch full quality vidoes on youtube (like 3G Unrestricter)

that is all. I guess i'll have to wait for iOS5 to be untethered jailbreak.

Now that Apples FINALLY learned how to include a phone that works with their odd external antenna, all I want is a 4.3" 16:9 widescreen display. The same size I enjoy on my various Androids. It must be exactly 4.3" to mathematically equate to 16:9. An advantage for YouTube, Games & Movies.

An advantage that I had expected the entertainment oriented Apple to offer first instead of lagging so far behind the competition. Of even greater surprise is the number of fanbois in denial. Oh well, it just makes my new SGS II seem that much more special.

A whole new interface.

- Instead of using a springboard filled with app icons, iOS shows "widgets" or tiles, similar to Windows Phone 7 and Android. Applications are found via Launch Pad (accessible via a gesture on the iPad or a home button tap on the iPhone) or from a folder on the dock.

- The dock can now hold 5 application icons, and the icons have been slimed down slightly to fit better.

- Notifications by default are in a widget, as well as the swipe-able drop down.

I'm sure that iOS 6 will get rid of the rows and rows of apps, and bring widgets instead with your apps being viewable from Launch Pad.

Certain widgets can be placed onto the lock screen too.

what would be the point of that...when you can just go to the image and select send with mail?

Why the heck would you want to hide all your apps behind another interface requiring ANOTHER gesture or click to get to them? That doesn't make any sense at all. The apps are in rows on the home screen because that is the fastest and most efficient way to get to them.

If you can come up with a faster and more efficient way that reduces the amount of clicks or gestures to get to them I'd love to hear it but the Android way certainly ain't it. That's one of the worst things about the Android interface.
 
does anyone else full landscape mode would be cool??

I think the should be able to turn the home screen into landscape mode, along with the multitasking mode in landscape. I think all the native apps thats come with the iPhone should be able to be used in landscape mode.

That would be fantastic, along with a new facelift for the os

I use the iPad in the landscape mode for everything except two apps that were developed for the iPhone only.
 
  • Dvorak keyboard layout
  • Some apps become only accessable through widgets
  • More support for landscape in apps and on home screen
  • Return of iPod app (its just better)
  • Siri integration with other apps
  • Localised Siri buisness search (I hope this comes sooner)

SBSettings-like toggles are what I miss the most from jailbreaking. I'd like to see something similar in the next major update, the ability to with wi-fi/3G off quickly is always handy.
 
i have a feeling we'll see a widget section in the app store..

for instance..

twitter/facebook releasing widgets for iOS where you could update your status quickly, or check the last few stories without launching the app.

Because widgets will essentially replace certain apps, and you'd rather have quick view access to a widget than a bunch of static non-informative icons.
 
Geofenced security - I don't need to enter a passcode when I switch my phone on at home.

Geofenced/time/appointment based mode - a different layout of the homescreen depending if I'm at home, or work, or travelling, etc. Perhaps combined with the ability to have the same icon on more than one homescreen page, and to choose the default page depending on location/time/what's in the calendar?

More Siri control of iPhone funtions and apps.

Seriously, Whats with the Widget Boner ?
This all adds up to battery draining ?, I would take an extra step to access an app, over less battery any day.

This isn't a desktop where apps take a long time to start u And people use real apps far more often than simple widgets and there are much more of them. It doesn't make any sense at all to make it harder to get to ALL your apps for a few widgets on a homescreen that also drain your battery faster.

I want to get to my apps faster, not slower. Android makes getting to your apps slower by sticking them under another interface thus requiring an extra gesture to get to your apps.
