Today Apple gave us a sneak peak at their media device, temporarily named iTV. It connects to your TV and has wired and wireless connections to your computer.

What should Apple name this product when it ships next year, and why do you think your suggestion would be a good choice?

iStream! It will come in a variety of colours - vanilla, chocolate, mint, raspberry ripple, Phish Food...

That would be really cute, and it describes it. :)

I dig it.

iPorn maybe?!?! BTW on staying on the subject of the iTV, has anyone tried streaming a DVD trough AE? It goes pretty well, but you'll get hickups. So I'm figuring that the wireless connection in the iTV isn't enough if they just put a AE in it. That and the fact that AE cards are cheaper since last month, I think Apple will bring a faster wireless/Airport out!!

iTV also sounds identical to eyeTV.

I was thinking MacTV, but only because Steve said they want "Mac" in the names of their products.

I predict MacPolls will have one on this subject soon.

miniMacmini sounds like a winner to me.;)

How about:

mac view
mac drive
mac box
mac media server
mac vision
mac media player
macTv
mac MyFI
macbuyme

Only on Macintoshes though, this new thing isn't a computer - it's a beefed up Airport media streaming device - it's not a Mac.

Already taken. That's the name of a TV network in the U.K.

Plus they'd probably get sued by El Gato, who makes Mac-only TV capture devices called EyeTV.

I do like iStream as I am sure Apple will market that it is not just for movies, but tv shows, music, photos, and slideshows so you cant go with iJustOneMedia.

Mediaplex would cover just about everything, now and in the future. iCinema sounds more like current Apple products, though.

SetTopBoxThatFallsOffThinPanelTVs seems appropriate but might be too long. :p

Changed your `tar? The spotlight one was wayyy better.

I agree.

I honestly kind of like iTV, but since that is already good to start with, Apple is gonna have to make the final one kick ass.

Help Steve Jobs Come Up With a Better Name for iTV

My ideas:

1. TelePort (mix of television and Airport)
2. Showtime
3. CenterStage
4. iToobies :p
