iStage
the really big ipod that works with your tv and isn't an ipod
or...
"hey this thing has HDMI Mah *#&@!"

I would say MacTV for the simple reason that you are streaming media from your MAC to your TV.. it just makes sense.

iTV

Don't really care what it's called as long as it has a party facility like in Windows MCE that allows you to only allow iTunes to be used during parties. I don't really want people at my parties looking around my photos or home movies... or for that matter the kids accessing R rated movies. This little feature could be overlooked but for me it's a big deal.

I don't mind people in the lounge looking at certain types of content but we all have things that we don't particularly want our guests to see...

I'm liking iTheatre or iMedia. Or if there are glitches in the streaming maybe, iCan'tGetThisThingToWork or iHelpMe.:)

Someone (intentionally or not) referred to it as CenterStage in another thread. I like it.

Has a nifty ring to it. Sort of reminds me of Front Row, so it'll fit into their naming convention just fine. I don't know how "are you going to buy a Center Stage" sounds, but I guess we'd get used to it.

I am not the creative type when it comes to names, so I don't have anything new to suggest. So far, I like Airport Theater the most, but I agree they will not market this as part of the Airport range of products, so that's gone. My second choice would be FrontRow Express.

iFlight

iFlight TV... an aiport and more without the plane

(with the price of a regular flight) uhmmm... sounds like iTrip

MS will release: ZuneFlight... a crash in every flight!

...I admit I'm not sure what else they'd call it. Some interesting alternatives might be iCast or iCenter, or maybe iLink - or best yet, iPlay.

think of the naming precedents: iTunes, iPhoto, iMovie, each references the content, not the device (not iStereo, iCamera, iCamcorder). iTV references the device.

following that precedent, a good name might be iShow: it's consistent AND descriptive--i show tv programs, i show studio movies, i show podcasts, et al.

of course, the new product isn't a software app, but a device, so maybe that naming system isn't valid. instead, think of device naming precedents: Airport card, Airport Base Station, Airport Express, Airport Extreme.

a name following those precedents might be Airport Stream. Maybe "AirStream" is taken?

i'd prefer the hybrid "iStream".

but my vote would go to iShow because it describes what the product will do for you, it references the media, it sustains Apple's nifty "iXxxx" heritage, and it rolls off the tongue a lot more easily, so it's better in several ways for marketing purposes.

Does anyone know how to create one of those vote-from-the-forum polls? I'd like to see someone solicit suggestions and then test them for popularity.
