I can't see Apple advertising the RAM aspect. If it does have more RAM, Apple won't come out and say it.

Agree. If Apple announces some kind of multitasking for the new Air, we'll be certain that it will have more than 1GB RAM. Otherwise we can just wait until somebody makes a tear down.

I agree, although if Apple has picked up on the amount of hype 2GB RAM has generated, I could see Schiller drop in 'Oh and by the way, we've doubled the RAM.'. He usually drops in a speculation/rumor bit. E.g.

September 2014 'And If you don't know the screen sizes already'.
September 2013 'You may have seen a few shots of on the web [of iPhone 5c].'
October 2012 '[When introducing Mac Mini] You knew you were going to hear the word mini somewhere in this presentation'

They could just say nothing though and we'll have to wait for teardown as you say.

Anyone want Karyoke?

New Beats may be announced, hopefully with an aluminum design and better speakers.

It would be awesome if they dropped a hint but I really doubt it. If I was in Apple's shoes, well aware that the Air was in severe lack of RAM, I would do anything in my power to keep the issue out of the spotlight. Subtly increasing the Air 2 to 2GB RAM without a word would be my way to go about it. Apple's typical (and somewhat arrogant) way of not admitting that they screwed up.

In any case I'm pretty sure that 2GB is pretty much given for the Air 2. I'm more dismissive about the talk about increase in resolution. I'd definitely welcome a resolution better than 264 PPI. But if the Air 2 receives 1GB more RAM, slightly thinner form factor and Touch ID, the prospect of higher PPI is certainly saved for a future revision.

Even though I don't have any use for one, I am kind of interested to see what they do with the iPod Touch line, if anything. Maybe it will get the 6/6+ size treatment.

Mostly true. Since blabbing about technical specs is something that Apple tends to avoid. It's something that Android competitors do advertise in their marketing strategy, but Apple is more about advertising "the experience".

The event won't just be iPad Air, iPad Mini, Retina iMac, and Yosemite. There will be at least one unexpected product.

Maybe a Mac Mini update. Maybe a new Apple TV. Probably new Thunderbolt displays. On the outside chance it could be an early announcement of the iPad Pro or Retina MacBook Air, but I think both of those are unlikely.

Not necessarily. Apple is not shy trumpeting specs and jargon when it benefits them - 64-bit processors, ion-x strengthened glass, gazillion transistors etc. They obviously won't roll out numbers which can immediately be jumped at by competitors like the amount of RAM, core counts etc.

Surprise comes early. CNET has news about Apple revealing that there WILL be ipad mini 3 and ipad air 2 in their iTunes user guide. Disclosing so blatantly like this is a big surprise coming from apple.

I'm hoping Apple's big reveal is that they are getting out of the computer hardware market but continuing development of OSX and that OSX will work on all PCs regardless of maker (i.e. Apple will begin licensing OSX to vendors to include instead of Windows or Linux). Doubtful but that's my prediction.

Way too early? All it did was confirm TouchID, which was a no brainer. And notice it leaked the same day as the Nexus device announcements.

Apple is giving me more than what I ask for today. Didn't expect any much change beside touch ID, A8X, and improved camera. Last year I was confused between mini and Air. This year Apple helps me to choose.

Also I guess I am gonna close 2014 with bankruptcy. Been waiting for Mac Mini for so long and finally Apple updated it!!
