Seriously can not wait for the final price.

Might buy three of them, of course, I could get four for the same price as apple's 6K.

LOL.

This Samsung display is an easy pick over the Apple Studio Display for me at the same price, much less the likely hundreds lower ASP it will be.
Likewise, I had received a Studio Display w/ Nano Texture immediately upon release, before being able to see one in store. I immediately came to the conclusion that the Nano Texture was absolutely awful. I actually preferred my Dell U2720 4K w/ its matte screen over the ASD w/ Nano Texture. Yes, the Nano Texture did a better job at reducing the glare, but even at 2x Retina all text felt blurry. When I returned it I mentioned to the sales people that it was hands down the most disappointing Apple product I'd ever purchased. It was also the only Apple product I'd ever returned.

I'm guessing the Samsung matte display will be similar to the Dell's I have currently, in which case I'm sold already.

Do any of you bright people on this thread know, can M-series iPads output to the upcoming Dell U3224KB at full resolution?

Anyone wanna take any bets that the Samsung 5K is actually still just using LG's 5K panel, just with updated connectivity options, a modern bezel, and TizenOS? 😏 All of the specs so far make it sound like it's the same panel.

It does beg the question though, if Apple was already bundling an A13 processor in the Apple Studio Display, why on earth didn't they give it some sort of AppleTV functionality? It feels like such a bone-headed missed opportunity. I'd be willing to bet somebody at Samsung saw the ASD launch, saw its price, and thought "well that's a gimme" and straight away got to work on their improved + cheaper version of it.

Look at photo "2" of "5" in the bottom carousel. NICE!

and the ports in back are "straight" not the underside style like Dell displays that is basically 5 minute poke session until you find the hole you are looking for.

NO JOKES HERE. WE ARE TALKING PORTS.

Since I don't watch movies on my computer I really don't want local dimming.
Me neither, but I also hate IPS glow :)
But yeah, for workplace monitor deep blacks are not that important (and terminal window will be all-lit by Mini-LED anyway…). Though the 16” MBP Mini-LED screen is gorgeous :)

I would expect that to be a safe guess and I do not believe anyone other than LG ever produced a 5K panel.

If I had to guess, my guess would be that Apple expects the Apple Studio Display to be solely used as a Mac monitor and being connected to a Mac, one can use the macOS TV app or a web browser to view streaming content so they felt adding the iOS TV app and adding the ability to install iOS streaming service apps was superfluous.

On the plus side, I would imagine there is no technical reason not allowing Apple to add this functionality via future firmware updates if Apple feels it would be a sales benefit to do so.

Just waiting on the final price. But Samsung knows that the price will be crucial for this thing so I expect / hope $1200?

I expect it to be around 1300-1400$ personally. But Samsung also often have good sales on their products, which likely push it down to your target price or perhaps even a tad lower.

Yes, when you look at the TVs you can get for 1000 these days (ok maybe not the same volumes but still), wouldn't be surprised (or hope) for it to be in the $1000 ballpark maybe not from the beginning but quite quickly, and below in a year or so after launch.

I think so too, especially after seeing the ASD get a $300 discount recently. The Viewfinity S9 could be slightly cheaper than the ASD at launch then get a good discount perhaps by Black Friday or Cyber Monday if people are willing to wait long enough.

Yah, discounts at NewEgg etc. will be key to driving the price down. agreed.

Hmmm would be neat if I could use all my Un used Best Buy points for partial payment.

We need some updates on this one !!

Ok there is that :

But I guess it is just an Indian guess or something.
₹1,15,999 = €1 308,08

So $1,403.41?

We must be close to shipping if retailers are starting to fill out price placeholders.

a tad higher than I wanted, but of course, Samsung prob. knows they got a big sales bump from all the mac people that have been waiting, so they make keep it at around $1400 till after summer, then real price cuts could go into effect.
