Could Apple release low cost iPad that can work with cheaper version of Apple Pencil but with features such as pressure sensitivity disable and at lower precision. Then, they say if people need such features, they go for the Pro.
At that point, why not just use a third party stylus?

We will know the answer by tomorrow.

I am having a headache because of Apple's way of doing things. I shall try to avoid visiting macrumors until tomorrow after the event. See you guys a day later.

Thats exactly what its going to be. An iPad with a 9.7 inch screen, an A9 or A10, a non impressive camera, and Apple pencil support. $269 for 32 gigs, 399 for 128 gigs. Education markets will probably be able to by it in the $199-$229 price range. So, about the price of a cheep Chromebook
[doublepost=1522068085][/doublepost]I believe that at the event, Apple will focus on the Classroom 2.2 updates, and maybe some iBooks text books updates, and the cheeper iPads. Then, right afterwords, apple.com will be updated with:
1. iPad, 2018, $269 for 32 gigs, $399 for 128 gigs, available for preorder March 30, available April 6.
2. iPhone X, Gold, same dates
3. Apple Airpower, same dates, $169
4. Apple AirPods case, $99.
Thats it.

Who knows. A car? The glass panels and custom pizza boxes of the Apple Park?

It's so disappointing to observe the most inspiring company of the last decades, with like unlimited funds and talent, to only manage to produce recoloured and/or budget versions of years-old hardware running scandalously buggy OS's.

Each Apple event in the last 4 years has been like watching a bad TV show hoping this is the episode where it all turns around.

Hmmm, hopefully they could tell that Xcode is coming to iPad pro because students and computer science. However, if that would ever happen, it would be announced at WWDC, right?

Anyone happen to know the title of the game featured in the middle?

Looks like Alto's Adventure.

Yes, this is what could sway a lot of Windows users away. I don't think many Windows users understand until they actually get a Mac just how good they are...
One of my kids has just completed a Computer Science degree, using a MacBook. As soon as she got some money after graduation, she went out and bought a Windows machine. More powerful, better screen, more flexible, more compatible, runs more software, runs games, costs less. She says that none of her crowd on the CS course use Apple. It’s just not seen as relevant to them.
Other daughter is half way through a non-computing degree. Has already replaced her Mac with a Windows box for much the same reasons.

Acer just released a Chrome tablet geared towards educational use. It comes with an included stylus.

This launch comes a day before Apple unveils new iPads designed for that market. While it was nice to have the Pencil as a differentiator between the regular iPad and the Pro series, I think that it's time for all iPads to work with an Apple Pencil. iPad Pro will have to evolve to set itself apart. Bigger screens, more power and FaceID are all a good place to start.

I think we will be a little disappointed about new hardware. We will see just cheaper iPad. Which is quite shame, but I don't expect anything exciting.

I'm not going to be disappointed at all. because I don't expect anything hardware to be announced. those folks that think there will be something believe EVERYTHING is going to be updated so they won't be "a little" disappointed, they will be apoplectic

goody goody for her. Steve Jobs didn't care about this sort of thing, especially in deciding what direction to take Apple, and Tim Cook doesn't care and probably never will. Which is why folks saying "well Google" or "well Microsoft" is the biggest laugh ever.

I'm sorry, I just had to respond to this one.

If your kid completed a Computer Science degree at a decent grade she wouldn't be buying a Windows machine.

More viruses, more malware, a significantly higher risk of hacking and hijacking.

Certainly not more flexible or compatible when it comes down to the cute and intuitive handoff features Apples has with other Apple devices and file/content sharing or setting up external devices such as printers and other hardware.

The list could go on. Was this an internet computer science degree?

I posted about this in the "Alternatives" sub-forum about an hour ago. :)

IMO, Acer's chrome OS tablet pretty much poured cold water on anything that apple would be announcing tomorrow. Schools are already invested in chrome OS, and tablets like this will make an even more compelling case for chrome OS in schools.

At first glance, it looks like it does what I was hoping the iPad Pro would do (but doesn't).

You could easily connect a keyboard and mouse to this thing so it does more than a iPad Pro.....the included Wacom stylus is a nice bonus....this device is just too small for me and I believe Samsung has their own version coming out soon and that will be at least 12 inches or more in size.

people said that when HP announced a tablet just days before Apple was rumored to be announcing what turned out to be the iPad. but the HP tablet failed spectacularly while the iPad is still going.

so perhaps we should just wait and see A what is announced, and B, how sales etc of this tablet actually do

why would they do that when folks will buy a mac to use Xcode and Apple makes more money. I mean they ain't a charity after all.

Yes, let's see what Apple announces tomorrow. I would be totally shocked if they offered something anywhere near what Acer just announced. I'd be okay with being totally shocked. :D

Apple does not believe that a touch screen laptop will sell! If they believe in it; they would have done it years ago! Even the Windows 10 laptops; people don't want to shell out the addition $100-$200 more for that touch screen feature. PC users are not smartphone users; so they have a hard time with learn the touch screen and how it actually works! People who are 45 and over have a hard time with smartphones and in general mobile devices. They like keys and pointing devices that click to make a selection from an arrow prom!
Dumbest thing I've heard in a while. :confused:o_O

So, I didn’t see it on the first page and I really would rather not rifle through the last 8 to find out but, the video of this event will be available an hour after it ends, but what time does it start? Thanks

OMG. My heart now starts beating by the very notion that we might NOT have another Airpower delay...

I'm sorry I have to respond to this one as well.

Do you understand why Windows has more viruses, malware, and higher risk of hacking and hijacking? I'll give you the answer: it's because there are magnitudes more users on Windows than MacOS. Why would I write a virus for Mac when I can get n-th times more exposure on Windows?

Now use that same logic, and let's talk about Mac. You can easily write a virus for mac as well. But why don't people do it? Because it does not have the user base compared to Windows. It's asinine that you think MacOS is protected against viruses and malware because it's Mac.

Regarding Windows vs Macs for software developers/engineers. The #1 reason many developers are on Macs is because of Unix. If Macs did not have this AND the switch to Intel processors, people would be coding on Windows or their flavor of Linux.

As it happens, she got a first from a leading UK university and is currently working as an application developer. So, I'm pretty confident that she is fully aware of the reality of using Windows rather than the fantasy Doomsday fud.
