Whenever a "new" Apple product comes out, I begin to see the waters get muddier. Problems on existing devices will have almost no chances of being fixed with so many devices/products to look after. Shame. Everything will be iWatch now, ZERO chance of getting my iTunes match issues resolved at this point or even continuity problems!

Still waiting on them to fix issue with apps and Safari flashing previous screen. This problem been going on since ios7. apple seems to be ignoring this issue and doesn't seem like they can figure it out. Instead of stupid colored emjoi I think users would be more happy with bug fixes.

I don't think the Apple Watch will be a hit, which should be expected as other watches had the same fate. The watch is just for fashion, that's it.

I can understand its use if it had health capabilities but there aren't any. And it takes way too long to do one simple thing on the watch where you can just easily take your phone out of your pocket.

...and how does one update that thing anyways? And its dependent on your phone too, so you can't just leave your phone at home or something. Watches like these just aren't ready for primetime.

I am going to send Alec a big happy face experience...... This is a big feature Apple is promoting?

That's kind of embarrassing. Would be more fitting for the Mickey Mouse watch:)

Was the first iPad speculated at $1000? Gruber is no different compared to an average poster in this blog. Apple must be crazy to price it at $750 unless they want no sale. Even me, i want one but would remove myself out if it is more than $500 for stainless steel version.

Exactly. Real-world experience seems to have no influence on Gruber's thinking. The prices on the Edition line are probably going to be jaw-dropping, but the others far more attainable. The big up-sell will be the bands.

I'd have thought refreshing some or all of the iPod line would make sense at this event, the nano is long overdue for an update, and the shuffle is currently drastically overpriced and under specced with just 2Gb of Ram.

My prediction - nano and touch gain support for 24bit/96Khz files and shuffle to get twice the RAM for $10 less.

It could work both ways. Apple may have less pressure this year to add major features to iOS and OS X because the watch is taking care of telling the world that Apple is "innovating" and not standing still.

This means that engineers working on iOS and OS X may be able to concentrate on fixing stuff rather than struggling to meet release dates for major system wide features like a new interface and extensibility.

Not that this is easier or less time-intensive to accomplish, but I'm also seriously hoping for under-the-hood fine tuning of both iOS and OS X for the next upgrades.

As a watch collector and an Apple geek, I'm beyond excited for the Apple Watch. I'm leaning towards the Apple Edition in rose gold.

If the new Airs come with retina display, I'll probably pick one up, too.

Until a smartwatch can act as a smartphone I don't get why anyone would find it a need.

Currently the apple watch requires an iphone on your person why wouldn't I just pull my smartphone out of my pocket to do the same function?

I don't understand how Apple will be able to change much more over $350 for the higher end watches. After all the WATCH is the same, only the BAND changes. So if you want a stainless band, buy the $350 plastic band watch and I bet very soon there will be people selling $25 stainless bands or $35 gold plate bands.

If the watches themselves had different internal functions, more memory or a better battery or whatever then people would pay for that. But really how much will people pay for a nicer metallic color?

Apple Watch Sport: $349/379
Apple Watch, steel, Sport Band: $499/529
Apple Watch, steel, Classic Buckle: $599/629
Apple Watch, steel, Milanese Loop: $699/729

No predictions about the other bands or the Edition, and it isn't even clear that that modern buckle and the Leather Loop should be more expensive than the Milanese Loop. But for sure Gruber's forecast for a leather band at $1299 (a $500 premium over the Milanese!) is absurd.

Gruber is of course only one voice among many who are speculating about pricing, but he offers a clear and thorough argument for his pricing predictions, serving as a solid basis for debate and discussion.

Well as long as he sounds smart I guess we should all listen to him.

cheapest bands will start at 29

New processors in the Air's. Any guess on what battery life will be like on the 13 inch? It's listed at 12 hrs right now. Any better expectations with the new chips?

And I think that Gruber will eat his words and the pricing will be significantly lower then what he predicts. My assumption is the Apple watch will start at $499.

I want one myself but will not spend far from the entry price. Mainly because I still need to figure out why I need one and because this is a first gen device. Once a future version of the watch can
- display on all time
- last 3 days or more ( need this for traveling. )
- include GPS
- can be used more independent from iPhone and synced with either iPad and or Mac as well

I will spend some more money on a keeper.

i am still not convinced by that sports edition i mean have a look at the video. it looks like some cheap bulky plastic thing. i was actually thinking about getting one until i saw the video ^^

I agree with you. The Sports iWatch looks really plasticity and something fisher-price would make for a kid.

You know that this watch will be laughably obsolete in five years. No one will want it because the newer Apple Watch will be so much better. You will be able to keep this "collectable" watch right next to your iPhone 1. Both will represent a bit of history but be useless.

Will this $6,000 gold "edition" watch even continue to function after IOS 9 is replaced by IOS 10? Given apple's history I'd guess "no". I'd give it a 6 to 8 year lifetime. Same as phones.

Eventually it will fail. For a few years Apple will keep replacement parts in stock, it five years those parts will be gone, if not in five then in eight. But after that you will have a nice looking gold brick with a blank black glass face that is unrepairable. Not really the best collectable watch. It is a consumer item, made to be used then trashed (or recycled for metal content)

The reason the sport exists is to grab the attention of people not willing to drop tonnes of cash. By pricing it close to the steel, it's an easy up sell. The sport will bring them into store, the staff can upgrade them to the steel by selling the benefits it brings over the sport.

This doesn't tell me they're undercharging for the steel, it tells me they're overcharging for the sport. Just like cinema's do with drink sizes.

Yup totally agree. I will not buy any smart-watch until it is independent from a smart-phone. Some days I would want to use my watch and other days my phone. I would hate to be tied down from either device. First gen is for trials and errors. People who buy them are just fan-boys plain and simple

Price drop for the iPod Nano

I know I'm in the minority here, but what I'd really like to see is a price drop for the iPod Nano. They've been the same price since 2011. It no longer seems reasonable to pay $150 for a 16GB mp3 player.

I don't like using my iPhone as an mp3 player at the gym.

I'll have my credit card ready tomorrow. I'd really like the stainless steel, but will likely be a bit rich for my taste. Sport band it is. :)
