I don't think the Apple Watch will be a hit, which should be expected as other watches had the same fate. The watch is just for fashion, that's it.

I can understand its use if it had health capabilities but there aren't any. And it takes way too long to do one simple thing on the watch where you can just easily take your phone out of your pocket.

...and how does one update that thing anyways? And its dependent on your phone too, so you can't just leave your phone at home or something. Watches like these just aren't ready for primetime.

+1

I totally agree. I dont see the appeal nor do I quite understand what and how it will be used. I was thinking to myself, what will happen if the watch is lost or stolen, can it be tracked? I was wondering, why can I use this with my ipad and then ditch my iphone? Will it one day have Lte capabilities? To me it's a fashion statement. I'm not interested.

I know I'm in the minority here, but what I'd really like to see is a price drop for the iPod Nano. They've been the same price since 2011. It no longer seems reasonable to pay $150 for a 16GB mp3 player.

I don't like using my iPhone as an mp3 player at the gym.

If the Apple Watch is going to be a substitute for a Nano (ie used for running, or other activities), then will Apple release wireless earbuds headphones as an accessory?

What to expect....ohhh about 1/2 or more of the rumors to be wrong.

That's why they're called rumors.

It is amazing how much time is wasted on trying to guess what is coming out and what is being done....Maybe this whole site should seek a rename, MacUNFOUNDEDRumors as you guys just keep tossing more and more garbage up in hopes of luring readers.

They're a news site that depends on ad revenue; that's their job.

It used to be lots of the info here was good, now it is more like it is just a race to outdo the other pundits and "experts" with more claims not founded in reality.

I don't know how you could "outdo" them if you're reporting on them.

Interesting post, and interesting responses.

I am excited to see what they are going to offer and at what prices tomorrow, also excited for other product updates/releases.

I have had both a Pebble Steel and a FitBit Surge in the past 6 months and after using them for about a month, got bored and sold them both.

I fear the same fate for the Apple Watch, everyone will want it at first and then everyone will realize its nothing that great.

I really wish I had bought two original iPhones, one to use and one sealed in the original box, you should see what people are paying for them on eBay ($25k and up). I have my original bag that they gave me when I bought the original iPhone and people are selling/buying those for $200 on eBay, nuts. So part of me wants to get my hands on an Apple Watch and then never open it. But its a gamble, if its a flop, its a flop. If its seen just an an accessory, then its not really going to gain much value. I haven't looked but I bet other apple devices, iPod's, iPad's are not as collectable as an iPhone (at least the first one) and so the Apple Watch might not be either.

I guess we'll be finding out more information and pricing tomorrow at about this time.

Until a smartwatch can act as a smartphone I don't get why anyone would find it a need.

Currently the apple watch requires an iphone on your person why wouldn't I just pull my smartphone out of my pocket to do the same function?

Spoken like someone who has never used a smart watch. I own a Pebble and even though it can barely do that much and has connectivity issues I can't ever see myself not wearing a smart watch ever again. This coming from someone who never wore a watch before and thought it was stupid since I had an iPhone that could tell time.

I ask this every time there is an event (because for some reason, classes don't get canceled for Apple events ): When will the spoiler-free thread be posted, and where? It's not the most important thing, but it is convenient for those of use who like to be surprised by watching the whole event and not having prior knowledge. Thanks!

I can't wait to hear what the actual GBP £ price is. I don't plan on getting one but it's always hard to guess after tax what final retail will be.

I'm guessing prices will be lower than expected here and that differences in prices between models will be enticing rather than a leap.

I'm failing to see the appeal of a smart watch still. I guess i just don't like watches in general and to think i have to pay attention to another thing that people use instead of meeting or talking in real life seems like another step into self castration for humanity.

I really want the sport edition as a runner. Does all of this means that I need to have the phone in my pockets for the watch to receive messages and such?

.....Eventually it will fail. For a few years Apple will keep replacement parts in stock, it five years those parts will be gone, if not in five then in eight. But after that you will have a nice looking gold brick with a blank black glass face that is unrepairable. Not really the best collectable watch. It is a consumer item, made to be used then trashed (or recycled for metal content)

And what makes you think that the folks at whom the 'Edition' version of the AppleWatch is aimed, aren't going to buy a new one as soon as it comes out; you know those same people who purchase a new luxury automobile (100k and up) every year?

It's a watch, not a Rembrandt.....

Since we are all guessing:
Sport Edition $349
Steel $549 / $599 (sizes)

I can't see the Steel coming in at a $400 premium like Gruber thinks. That's way too much. Apple will be making cash like crazy selling different watch bands...though I assume the cheap ones will eventually pop up. I just hope I can get a decent leather one cheap enough since I hate the rubbery ones I've seen.

They will. They have the money. The expensive version is more of a status icon then anything else.

That Rose Gold sure is pretty...

Yes, the Apple Watch cannot do anything on its own, well except showing the time I guess. You need push service from an iPhone so that it gets pushed to the Apple Watch. No iPhone nearby, no communication to the outside world.

Apple can innovate my a**. Right back at Phil Schiller lol But seriously they did not take the opportunity to differentiate themselves in that. That's just sad.

I can hoesntly say I'm completely disinterested in this Apple Event and launch. There was a time that if Apple released a turd and called it "the only turd your ever going to need" I would have bought it. However that was then, this is now and I'm no longer a sucker for their dire tribe.
Don't believe me, well who's ever heard of a watch that has the title "Sport" but as far as getting it wet, well yes you can as long as it's only worn in the shower..! Rather than calling it "Sport" perhaps they should have called it "Splash" because that pretty much sums up its water resistance. My point is that Apple now release half hearted products "iPad Mini 3" and use smoke and mirrors to sell them to us..! No more not for me..!
I guess I'll stick with my Hublot for now Tim thanks all the same.

Yup totally agree. I will not buy any smart-watch until it is independent from a smart-phone.

These people need a thread of their own. Call it the "I don't want it and don't understand why anyone would" thread, and let them post all of their repetitious questions and complaints there. At this point, they are less than chaff.

aggree. Its getting pretty annoying. We got it by now, some people dont like the watch...

Apple Watch Sport: $349/379
Apple Watch, steel, Sport Band: $499/529
Apple Watch, steel, Classic Buckle: $599/629
Apple Watch, steel, Milanese Loop: $699/729

No predictions about the other bands or the Edition, and it isn't even clear that that modern buckle and the Leather Loop should be more expensive than the Milanese Loop. But for sure Gruber's forecast for a leather band at $1299 (a $500 premium over the Milanese!) is absurd.

Those prices would be great.

After much deliberation think I'm ready to lay down money on the biggest Apple Watch sport edition. Looking forward to hearing the finer details tomorrow!

Looks pretty stupid. wth are experiences? I can't believe they are wasting their time on this crap.

Because it's not daylight saving time here in the UK (and because of the countdown timer on MacRumors) I'm pretty sure this starts at 5pm GMT.

Am I mistaken - Are MacRumors counting down to their live blog?

Ironically I think I'm experiencing the GMT bug or similar because the official Apple calendar event says it will start at 6pm UK time

I believe Gruber is way off on the pricing lineup. The Steel Apple Watch will likely be starting at $500, $150 more than the "Aluminium" one because of that relatively small price difference. Consider currently how there is a $100 difference between the 16GB and 64GB iPhone 6. People who can afford the extra would gladly do so since they think they are getting more for their money. Apple would apply this same logic here and try to get people to buy the shiny, more expensive one made with fancier materials. Also, the materials they are using has been shown to not cost that much more than aluminum and gorilla glass like in the Sport model. Third, they are expecting to sell mostly Sports and Steels to the general public with the Edition for the upper class. Speaking of the Edition, I bet on $4,499 for starting with the rubber strap. It's "affordable" to the rich without seeming overly high priced.
Also, there is no way Apple is going to charge extra between the 38mm and the 42mm like how Gruber believes. Why should mostly men have to pay more for a product that better fits their larger wrists? That and the difference in size is so negligible at roughly .15 inches. Further there was a recent report that Ahrendts is pushing retail to emphasize on additional band options. This is where the pricing hierarchy will be. Expect the rubbers to be the base model, leather for middle tier, Milanese loop, then finally the links since it appears on Apple's website to take the longest to manufacture. Perhaps they'll announce a 18K gold link bracelet that will push the Apple Watch Edition to the $7500 price point that Gruber is convinced of. I should be an Apple Analyst, seems pretty straightforward to get paid for guessing.

Gruber predicts the stainless steel link bracelet Apple Watch will be the most expensive (non-Edition) at $1499 - $1999, and when I read Apple's description, I can believe it...
