The biggest change I hope to see in the future is a new unified memory architecture that unifies memory and storage. It would require very fast storage to achieve ram level speed but it would mean for example that a video file would play direct without needing to be shuffled from storage to ram. Everything would ‘seem’ real time and instant.

Microsoft also develops for ARM:
'Using the same Apple A12Z Bionic chip you’ll find in an $800 iPad Pro, the company showed that a low-power ARM desktop can already handle a variety of power user apps on Mac, including:
Versions of Microsoft Office (...) running natively on ARM' (...)'

More detail to be seen in the Apple Community (of course not @MR)
Microsoft office is the pinnacle of power user apps. Usually you need a top CPU and GPU to run those excel spreadsheets.

Oops used my time machine engine again 😝

I believe storage and RAM are still separate. I like the idea, though, no pulling from storage to RAM just to review content. Apple sells 8GB of additional ram for $200, sooooo 256 GB would be 6,400? :D

With the M1, the RAM is on the SoC.

The storage is separate, though.

I'm guessing they'll have bigger M models (M1X?) that have separate RAM.

With their current architecture, I don’t see how they work in separate RAM that’s still unified. It’d still have to be on the SoC and the SoC would have to be bigger. Like, how would they have a MacPro with expandable RAM?

They already fixed the keyboards across every laptop in 2020. 13" and 16" MBP's have Magic Keyboards and feel great to type on.
It's absolutely better than the butterfly keyboard, but I prefer the old chicklet keyboard. I'm typing this on my "fixed" 16" keyboard, and I can't wait to get back home to use my old keyboard. This feels like typing on a block of wood. The other one... clicks? Hard to describe why I love the old one. Yeah, I think it's the lack of "click" in the new one. But I'm an old fart who learned to type on an actual typewriter. I love the tactile feel of a good click underneath my fingers. Funny, though... when I'm typing on my old keyboard, my wife says, "You sound like you're trying to beat your laptop with how loud and furious you're typing." ;)

Not true. My Thunderbolt 3 connected RX570 works flawlessly using Windows via Bootcamp on my 2018 Mac Mini. That includes full graphics acceleration.
IDMTBAD, but I am just saying that it's "Not Supported, by Apple", you can get them to work, but it's just not supported. I guess we're just at a lingo impasse?

Laters...
