The only thing I was looking forward to was the return of Touch ID in some form or another. Didn't pan out this year, they say. Guess my new iphone purchase isn't going to pan out either.

Got a meeting from 1-3 EDT so I will watch the on-demand Apple Event later Tuesday. Need to update my XS Max so hoping for the matte black.

Somehow I liked the s-series. Made it clear that it was an improvement over the previous model but no spectacular big upgrade..

My MBP 13” 2017 is playing up and right now the trade in value is excellent.

I want a MBA though, and I feel stupid trading it in now for that, given the timing.

Never been in this awkward sort of timing with Apple stuff. Always been able to upgrade at good times.

Still excited for the event even though looking less and less likely that I'll upgrade either my iPhone (12 mini) or my AW (5). Was really hoping the iPad mini 6 would be announced at this event.

Going to upgrade from my Watch series 2 to the new 7. That is going to be one of the biggest apple upgrades I’ve ever done.
Also looking at going from my 11p to a 13p

We’re getting a re-design Apple Watch though. That’s not compelling?

Acute corners on a watch? No thanks. The rounded corners do a good job fending off impacts and wear and tear. I predict that square corners will be a terrible idea, particularly on aluminum body watches.

Seriously, if they really go with the same corner angles as found on a phone, it will be a cosmetic disaster in a matter of weeks for many people.

Trying to keep expectations in check:

- No price drops for older iPhones. iPhone 13 replaces the whole iPhone 12 lineup. 64GB is still the base storage for all iPhones lower than the Pro. 256GB storage or higher will only for the Pro models.
- Apple Watch S7 will be more expensive, keeping SE and S6 at current prices. It will require new bands not compatible with current ones. Applecare for it will be more expensive than S6.
- iOS14 will actually not be supported to boost iOS15 adoption for mass scanning.

Since the so-called BS leakers are really just guessing, I’ll make my predictions based solely on Apple's past history and common sense:

  • Incremental changes to new iPhone models, mostly just slight camera improvements, maybe a new color, and that is about all. Not much here, never is... And any camera improvements are NEVER going to turn a cracker-jack box toy camera into a real camera. A whole lot of razzle and dazzle via video presentations that attempt to take your mind off of the lackluster changes.
  • Incremental changes to new Watch models, a few more medical monitoring capabilities that are neither tried nor proven enough to be reliable and useful to your doctor. Some new bands. A whole lot of razzle and dazzle via video presentations that attempt to take your mind off of the lackluster changes.
  • And that "California Streaming" thing, just some announcements about a few more crappy shows for TV+ that only Gen Z would even care about. Probably a few more games for the ATV. and you guessed it, a whole lot of razzle and dazzle via video presentations that attempt to take your mind off of the lackluster improvements.
  • And one more thing, a whole lot of disappointment from us over the lackluster improvements and changes...

They prefer to feature Facebook glasses. Macrumors notifies us every time Cook passes gas but ignores this issue which has been covered by their more serious competitors.
It does seem odd that $10 off an item about to be replaced gets more ink, I mean pixels...

I’m going into this event with all-time low expectations. I really hope the new iPhone impresses me because I need a replacement, but…

i don’t mind upgrading from the 11 PM.. let’s see.. 6 gig of ram to rid the annoying app reloads. the qualcomm over the intel should give quite a nice bump to connectivity. night mode on wide lense and selfie camera.. yes plz.. 5G will be turned off .. 120Hz will be turned off.. what else is there ?

IF the rumors as described in this article turn out to be correct - I will save a lot of money! No (for me) compelling feature in neither the watch nor the iPhone ...
Even though I gave this a thumbs up, I just got notice my kid's iPhone 6 is dying. Oh, well, I may have to get myself the 13 and may move our iPhone collection down the line to spouse, and two kids. Oddly the kid with the dying iPhone 6 could care less about what model she has.

I am anxiously awaiting the software updates... I am happy with my watch series 4 and iPhone 12 so wont be upgrading them for a long time.

Makes total sense… and if I had an “older” model, I might do the same, but my 2yr old 11ProMax does just fine and I do not care about 5G as I’m my area, with 4 bars of LTE I get <1mbps download so why bother? And the phone is capable of around 100mbps in the right area as I have observed first hand…
