Has anyone thought about the fact that this event image suggests NOTHING about iPhones?

California Streaming suggests macOS Monterey.
The logo looks like the old logos that used to light up on the back of a Mac. And the light in the lake looks like the glow from a Mac when you first lift up the screen.

My thoughts is we’re getting new Macs—maybe even iPads—this month, and we won’t see new iPhones and Apple Watches until next month. Think of all the iPhone Upgrade customers who would have to either wait or pay to upgrade early if new phones were released this month.

Just saying…

I thought the exact same. But I am probably biased, as I need a new Macbook but no phone....
Well maybe...

Upgrade plan months are not set in stone as can be seen from previous releases

I’m excited for a new macbook pro in black, with magsafe, SD card slot, audio jack, great keyboard with enough travel and… a adjustable keyboard layout like on the virtual iOS keyboard but incorporated in hardware keys. Think about the productivity improvements when keys adapt to another language or app shortcuts.
No new airpods Pro 3 coming on monday?

If Apple finally ships eSIM version to my country this might be the first time I will actuall buy Apple Watch. Fingers crossed! Also, side-effect will be that my XS will not have the same design language as the Watch so I will probably be nervous from that😁

I think this will be relatively low-key for Apple. There are so many issues surrounding chip and technology manufacturing since the pandemic, it has been causing all sorts of issues around the world.

I think they played their cards right on this one and it will probably be a blessing in disguise so they can spend even more time on next years event. I think expectations have become too much in terms of how consumers expect some radical changes each year. In the grand scheme of things 12 months is not that long.

As a certain individual once said (not a name to mention on MacRumors!):
"Most people overestimate what they can do in one year and underestimate what they can do in ten years."
I'll give you a clue, his surname rhymes with Bates!
That, and smart phones are now a very mature product. There aren’t really anymore truly groundbreaking things to add. Small improvements are all there really is left to do. Even the watch is pretty mature now too. People expecting groundbreaking things don’t even know what they want, or they want things that just don’t work because Physics so they set themselves up for disappointment.

How does making curved edges, straight, constitute a “major design change“ lol. We’re not in a particularly golden age of apple design at the moment are we.
What do you consider a major design change? There’s only so much they can do with a rectangle.

Perhaps it’s an announcement about them making an announcement next month

I don't see many advantages of an always-on display. My phone is usually in my pocket. If I pull it out to look at the time, the phone automatically shows me the Lock Screen anyway. If my phone is sitting on a table, it lights up when notifications come in. And if I want to see the time when the display is off, I can just tap the screen. The only advantage I can see would be for people who use their iPhone as an alarm clock on a nightstand.
I felt the same way until I got the Z Fold 3. It is nice at night on the nightstand like you've mentioned and since I work from home I have my phone on the desk in my office the majority of the time M-F anyway and it's nice to be able to glance at it for notifications instead of tapping the screen or picking it up. Apologies for the run on sentence. I appreciate the AOD for my use case anyway and never saw the appeal prior to having one daily.

Still waiting on that mythical redesigned iPad mini 6 that has supposedly been coming "any day now" for TWO YEARS  Im pretty sure its vaporware. Apple hates the iPad mini, thats why it took 4 years for an update. I dont expect to see a new one anytime soon.
This is part of the reason why I pulled the trigger on the Z Fold 3 - 512GB. Not for everyone I know but since I was using a 12 Pro Max and an iPad Mini (latest gen) daily I thought I'd give it a try. I just couldn't wait on Apple any longer. Sold my 12 Pro Max 3 days later and gave my wife the Mini. Zero regrets. At 9.56 oz the Z Fold 3 is lighter overall than the both the WiFi only and WiFi + Cellular Mini, it is nearly bezeless when unfolded, and it has a higher resolution display. Not to mention it is both a phone and mini tablet in one device. It takes a little while to get used to Android but it has come a long way since I last tried one 4 years ago. Zero regrets here. I'll most likely go back to Apple when they release a foldable option in the style of the Fold, not the Flip. Not bashing on the iPhone or the Mini, but I'm happy I made the switch.

I guess I’m not a good Apple consumer. I will keep soldiering on with my iPhone 8+, my iPad Pro 10.5 and my mid 2011 iMac 21.5 (upgraded over the years).

I am interested in the new 24in. iMac, but I want to see what the forthcoming new bigger iMac will bring before committing. I have zero interest in the Apple Watch or Airpods. The new iPads and MacBooks interest me only in terms as consumer products.

I have no stake in the Touch Bar on the MBP, but it always struck me as unnecessarily gimmicky. Glad to see the HDMI and SD card slot returning. Also welcome the M1X in the new MBP to again justify the jump from MBA to MBP because presently there is no real justification to take the 13in. MBP over the 13in. MBA. If the MBP is also 14in. then that will further justify the jump (unless down the road a redesigned MBA also becomes 14in).

Considering the performance upgrade the MBA got with the M1 I think one would have to be doing some seriously heavy workload to justify going for a MPB with M1X. For most people the extra cost would not be worth it.

IF the rumors as described in this article turn out to be correct - I will save a lot of money! No (for me) compelling feature in neither the watch nor the iPhone ...

exactly how I felt last year

every year is different for diff people though I suppose

120hz, finally a smaller notch, upgraded to the video camera, and first redesign of watch in 3 years are exciting

Not arguing, probably not enough for me to pull my wallet…
But in about 26hrs we will all know the facts and I will make decisions after that…

I used to do Android back in the day and had several Samsung phones and tablets. Never, ever again.

I said the same thing until two weeks ago. I owned multiple Android flagship phones four years ago and went running back to iPhone. Now it is bye bye iPhone 12 Pro Max and iPad Mini 5th gen. I can't go into 2022 owning a phone that still looks like it's from 2017 and also can't unfold into a nearly bezeless mini tablet.
