whats the best they could come up with (and don't say Skylake MBP)? Major enhancements to Siri and iMessage are a big deal.

People won't boo because WWDC attendees are classy and respectful.
They only boo if Internet Explorer will be announce the new default browser on the Mac :)

Here's what I'm thinking!

Introduction of iOS X. They talk about Swift 3, and then launch XCode for iOS X. You read that right guys, from here on out you'll be able to make iOS apps from an iPad Pro.

Interesting... Impossible... but very interesting.

Better still, ditch XCode entirely and come up with a less funky way of deploying apps.

...that cursor still flashing away!!!!!

For the first time in years, I just don't give a crap anymore. Typically I'd be super pumped up for WWDC, excited to hear about the new innovations and and updates to iOS. But with Tim Cook at the helm that's not his thing, he's there to stear the ship straight ahead, not veer off course, don't rock the boat, just keep sales going strong, get the stock prices up, and don't change anything or do anything radically cool, because that may scare away their Grandma and Grandpa core customers that don't like change and don't want a modern smartphone OS.

Sticking with the same boring iOS pretty much since iOS 7 will eventually hurt Apple. Even the iPhone 7 coming this Fall, looking to be an iPhone 6 part 3 = yawn, zzz...

Where's the excitement, the brand new stuff ? They need to blow up iOS and start from scratch LOL, no not really, but it does a need a MAJOR overhaul. A screen full of stuck app icons, that you can't even move anywhere on the screen still ? It's 2016, not 2008 anymore.

I agree. Cook is playing the company too safe and it's getting stale. I was in an Apple Store the other day and the Genius Bar was packed with angry customers. At that moment I actually felt like the Apple magic was wearing off.

Tbh one guy was trying to get a free replacement for his iPhone even though it was out of warranty and he hadn't bought it directly from Apple - but all the same. Angry customers aha.

To be fair though helping customers with products (whether due to the product being broken or the customer's incompetence) is and was always the point of the genius bar.

To all the people who attend the wwdc, let's boo Apple when they introduce MacBooks pro or air with their new, flat keyboard. The biggest turnoff for the MacBook.

My understanding is that there will not be any new hardware unveiled today. Software, software & software. It's a developer conference after all.

I think it will be at least announced, if not released, but careful what you ask for. It will be so thin and so weightless that you don't need a backpack cause it will just float behind you when you walk. The keyboard will be flat and cheap (so the laptop can be super thin). It will have one port that does everything (because the laptop is so thin), it will have a Core i2.5 (because the battery has to be so thin), and since glue is so expensive these days it will simply be one piece of metal that does not come apart (so it is indestructible). OBTW, one last thing, there will be a new Apple leather carry case that will handle 5 dongles priced at $99.95 (which of course will be the star of the show).

There you have it, innovation at its finest.
iHope iCan wear it on my wrist with special new bands, and iHope it has a beautiful 480P magical front facing camera for all of my selfies

A lot of Tim Cook bashing in this thread which I don't think is fair. He's not a visionary like his predecessor, he's an operations guy, so he puts in place a team that supposedly are visionaries and gives them free reign to do their thing. The issue here, in terms of OS X and iOS, is the team.

Let's face it. Ever since Federighi et al took over OS X and iOS, software has been on a consistent and steady decline, both in terms of many more bugs and glitches and questionable UI design on the software they have released. I'll be the first to admit that they have had some good ideas along the way, but basically lousy execution on those ideas seriously erodes the benefit to the end user.

Not a Tim Cook basher, i respect him as a very smart and great manager, but he seems to be in place to keep the ship moving full steam ahead, without rocking the boat, play it safe to keep the money train rolling.

I could foresee Apple becoming the next Blackberry that was once king of the hill top dog, and then they stopped innovating, and slow started going downhill, and ten years later they look around and say what the heck happened, we were the #1 a decade ago, now nothing. I don't think Apple will fall down that hard over the next five years, but they will drop and lose sales if they just keep the status quo with no real major iOS revisions, and keep the iPhone running a long like they have siocne iOS7, that will hurt them eventually

I am no Samsung fan, really don't like Touchwiz, and a bunch of stuff they do with copycat double apps that Google already has, etc... But Samsung makes some kick ass hardware, their AMOLED display tech is #1, their cameras always #1 or #2 every year, the waterproof and dustproof stuff in the new S7 series really is a great thing to have. Their memory RAM is the best, their hard drives in the phones are the fastest. I just wish they made GPE versions of the S7 line, I like the awesome Samsung hardware, but would love stock Android running it

To everyone saying its a developers conference so don't be surprised if theres no new hardware look at the past 6 years. They have used the WWDC to unveil the unibody MBP's, the Retina display MBP's, the MBA, two updates to Timecapsule and the Mac Pro's. This whole event might be focused on software but this is their big event, this is when everyone in the tech world is watching them. They've used that stage to, at the time, announce their latest and greatest. Its not too much to ask as consumers that their pro desktop that they are still charging top dollar for is updated and this event is traditionally when they have announced those updates. They are still charging for the computer like its the best of the best but its not, it hasn't been in 3 years. Its technology is old and being outperformed by cheaper computers today.

It is totally fair - Timmy is the CEO - he is responsible for putting the team in place / monitoring their performance / and replacing them if they are failing. Art Levinson has allowed Timmy too much time, Timmy has failed on so many fronts and yet remains employed by Apple, and too many Bozos (Eddy "The Slob" Cue, Angela, Craig, Phil,...) have run their course and been coasting for too long. A house cleaning is way overdue.

Seriously, enough with the "Timmy". You don't have to like him, but be respectful.

I don't call you "Corpsy"

That kind of hardware doesn't really concern people. This isn't a hardware conference.

Amen brother :) I'm an Android guy now, but sued to love the first couple of iPhone's until Android mature enough to be just as good. I'd go back to an iPhone if they just revised iOS a bit more, not saying copy Android, but come on at least a little bit of customization would be nice Apple. Move icons anywhere I want, and icon packs, and a theme engine, allow widgets on the homescreen. That's not radical stuff, Apple could easily do that, and they'd win a ton of Android guys back into their camp. But as is iOS seems stale and not really moving forward stuck

The main reason I switched to Android three years ago is homescreen widgets, specifically my agenda which is always on my homescreen and the only way I don't forget everything. I can't believe Apple still haven't introduced that.

Respect must be earned - and Timmy has not earned mine and has lost and is losing the respect of many ardent Macheads. AAPL down another $1.22 today - Wall Street sure has no confidence in this guy.
