I'm not expecting any ne hardware but hopefully we wil get some good software enhancements across all the platforms I own devices on (iOS, Mac OS, watchOS and TVOS). I find appe's software updates more exciting than android's these days. Android seem to be all about refinement these past few years whereas Apple have added new features.

Well we should see a funny presentation by Craig Federighi and a even buggier version of OS X that would kill some of the nice functionalities that currently exist in favour nothing...

There are people like me who are happy with Apple's software and welcome any new features that already exist on other platforms to the Apple platform. It makes what we love even better.

Then there are people like who dismiss any attempt by Apple to make the platform better and do nothing but bitch and complain how Apple doesn't innovate and how bad their software is and yet REFUSE to leave for another platform.
Then there are people like you, who think that they need to defend Apple, and complain about people who complain about Apple's failures, like Apple never did anything wrong, and we should all relax and sit back and wait... indefinitely for new hardware and the innovations brought to us by other companies. Sure. We should all be humble and let Apple try to dominate the entire universe... without having a single complaint, just because they are Apple.

Apple never said they are bringing out new MacBooks in " the next few months ".

If you follow the news and rumors it certainly does. Apple never says anything until they actually announce the dates of release in a keynote.

TBH I'd quite like to see an Apple without Cook. Feel like he's playing the company way too safe. Apple is literally sitting on billions, they can afford to actually attempt innovation and have a brand new product category fail horribly with little to not side effects for the company. But all he's interested in is keeping the company ticking over and maintaining the current products, rather than actually making anything new. I don't think the 'Apple Car' is anything like what people are thinking, it could literally just be CarPlay development.

And yet, they are massively increasing the amount they spend on R&D:

I assume you knew that, and were't just trotting out well worn cliche? :p

I still use a mid 2012 MacBook Pro retina for design/graphic/development/video work at my job just fine. Highly doubt your daughter is gonna cry about not having the latest specs for college, where it'll just be on Facebook 90% of the time.

Exactly - I think there;s a lot of rose tinted spectacles here.

Our first Mac was a 2004 Powerbook. Which became the MBP, and the unibody version after that. In the years between 2004 - 2016 it hasn't changed that frequently or with that much wow. The 2004 Powerbook was pretty great at the time, and the current MBP is pretty great too.

Would love to know what the average college kid needs their laptop to do that a current MBP would struggle with.

Having the view that some people possibly over react and to anything and everything Apple does to doesn't do is hardly defending anyone.

People keeping saying "Thinner and thinner" is all Apple is about -- yet one of the first places Apple partnered with to accept Apple Pay was McDonalds, and they recently announced a KFC deal too. What gives?

But I assure you that they won't make their ads showing very big clients from those restaurants.

To all the people who attend the wwdc, let's boo Apple when they introduce MacBooks pro or air with their new, flat keyboard. The biggest turnoff for the MacBook.

A lot of selective memory in this thread. I remember the dark last PowerPC days when keynote after keynote went by with no PowerBook G5. Then I had to buy a terribly outdated PowerBook for college.

Anyway, for a 10/10 keynote (while still being reasonable), this is what I want:
iOS:
-Dark Mode
-Control Center customization
-Set default apps
-Siri w/ API

OS X:
-Metal 2.0
-Dark Mode
-Siri
-New Filesystem
-Don't screw up my hackintosh
–Don't get rid of Dashboard

AppleTV:
-Nothing. Fix the remote first.

iCloud upgrades:
-Not so cheap with storage
-Encryption updates

MBP:
-USB C, but with HDMI and Magsafe
-Upgraded minimum storage. 512 should not cost a kidney.
-Omnibar thingie

I have high hopes for my software wishes (except for the FS), but there's too much anti-hardware noise to be hopeful for a MBP update. I hold out a sliver of hope because the OLED screen would need developer support, so I could see them announcing it with a release a month or two out.

Cougarcat - perhaps you have some "selective comparison" going on. Back in the day, and I had most of the Power PC machines, Apple did not have anywhere near the resources to do their magic that they have had for many years now. The switch to Intel was driven by IBM's slow release of new chips. Today, Timmy has more cash at his disposal than any other CEO in history yet appears incapable of launching new products in the game changing category. Timmy has been CEO for 5 years now and probably in a pseudo CEO role for another two years. I really believe that Monday will be a telling moment.

Fingers crossed. Bluetooth 5 adoption as well as finally adding the Bluetooth profile support needed for high quality audio and the low energy features that Apple has neglected to include up to now.

The Apple Events channel hasn't appeared on my Apple TV 3 yet. Will that happen tomorrow (obviously)?

That was just one example. There were plenty of missteps hardware-wise (and software-wise) under Jobs' watch. Also, calling cook "Timmy" says a lot about your attitude.

Apple's Worldwide Developers Conference kicks off on Monday, June 13 with a keynote event at 10:00 a.m. Pacific Time, where Apple is expected to show off the latest versions of its iOS, OS X, tvOS, and watchOS operating systems and perhaps debut new features for services like Apple Pay and iCloud.

Ahead of the conference, we've compiled all of the rumors that we've heard about features that could potentially debut at the event to give MacRumors readers an idea of what to expect.

iOS 10

Apple's operating system for iPhones and iPads has gone largely without design changes since iOS 7, so it's reasonable to assume iOS 10 may feature some design tweaks to update the look of the OS. A dark mode is one possibility that's been circulating based on the look of Apple's WWDC app and site, but there's no evidence suggesting such a feature will be implemented.

"OS X didn't get a major update in 2015"

El Capitan was a major strive forward from Yosemite.

You bet it does - look at Timmy's dismal record on stock performance and lack of product innovation. Steve had some miscues, I agree. BUT, he gave us iPod & iPhone & iPad & iTunes & saved Apple. Timmy - not much.

Yawn, zzz...

Where's;

- Theming engine for iOS ( Apple could really do a great thing with something like that )
- Icon packs ( Come on Apple, let us customize our iPhone beyond stock already )
- Widgets on the home screen
- Better notification system
- Allow the phone to be used as a HD, drag and drop files from a computer onto the phone.

Apple have had vehicles out in the real world building up a database for Apple Maps own version of street view for a year now. I expect to see that previewed tomorrow.

I'm not defending Apple. I'm questioning the sanity of some people who do nothing but complain and trash talk Apple instead of going to another platform.

If you are going to voluntarily bang your head against a wall don't complain about the headache.
