Yeah and they also added the App Library, which I barely use. It's one of the reasons I would love to see just a brand new home screen. They have kept the same home screen pretty much for the last several years.

Everyone is complaining about the home screen. What is so terrible about the home screen?

What should the home screen look like if it was on your wish list?

I think people want a more dynamic home screen with more widgets and direct access to files.

If the only things that change in iPadOS 15 are a bunch more of marginal UI tweaks, I’m going to sell my mini 5, give up on iPad, and bite the bullet and go back to my MBA to get stuff done. IPadOS has been such a disappointment. It’s been several years since nearly everyone began pointing out how hobbled the OS is for doing real work, or for being efficient at it. So now we’ve got hardware to die for, but the OS is still basically a toy with some bones thrown to serious users (mouse, USB-C). I don’t know who can afford to have an iPhone, an iPad, AND a Mac, but I can’t. I don’t need massive processing lower, I’m not a film or music editor, and I’ve been hoping to ditch the Mac, upgrade from myiPad mini to an iPad Air, and be happy with just an iPhone and an iPad. From the leaks about the next OS version, I don’t think I’ll be able to do that. I can’t even reliably stream video from iPad to my monitor without some software complaint or glitch requiring my attention. C’mon Apple!

What are you using the iPad for that you find so lacking?

The basic iPad a lot of people use it for e-mail, internet, netflix, social media, basic note taking, basic gaming and basic office work.

What are you trying do that so lacking?

If you are hoping for a full browser app like a desktop FireFox app that will not happen as 90% people that own iPads have less than 3GB of RAM.

I'm sure widgets will come as why have it for iOS but not iPadOS that makes no sense.

But making folders on the home screen? I don’t think Android does that.

Did you notice the clues provided by Apple?
Have a look at the glasses of the women on the left. You'll see the UTF-16 codes for "Sleeping Face", "Computer" and "Knife and Fork".
Again iMessage bubbles in the eyes of the woman in the middle and a Terminal-icon in the eyes of the man on the right. As we have heard about food-tracking, sleep-options and iMessage improvements, I dont know what could be meant with the computer (maybe a new M1/2), or with the Terminal-icon (maybe shell-support on iPadOS?)

Your thoughts?

The iPad is not powerful enough for doing any programming with out getting the iPad pro. And Apple is not going to give you a feature in iPadOS that would crash most iPads people own. So no programming coming for iPadOS that would crash most people iPad.

I’m not sure 95% of people wanting a terminal or command line. What you must do in terminal you cannot do touch?

It's been the same home screen since at least IOS 7. One thing they can improve is utilizing space better.

What do you want to be able to make folders or app shortcuts on the home screen? You want more windows 10 like desktop home screen?

Hope everyone had a restful weekend. You'll need your energy for all the spirited fights we're about to have here on MR! :D

The "No Touch Bar Crew" and the "Bring MagSafe Back Crew" did it. Two missions accomplished. Congrats to everyone who submitted Apple Feedback.

I think I just want it less restrictive than it is, but then that's pretty much Android. I mean the put in Widgets, but even the smallest widget is a little big. I also would love interactive widgets because the current format makes the widgets seem a little senseless.

Remember, though, that the “replacement for the trash can Mac” crew did it, too! To the tune one one $6,000 system :)

Example: I want to add a contact to an existing Contact group. Cant do on iPadOS.

It’s awesome now you can only charge from one single port of your left hand side. USB-C charging anywhere was sooo dumb /s

I hope got any feature for the M1 iPad that makes it more attractive for me as a DevOps engineer.

since I’m in DevOps, I can find ways to use the iPad as a development machine.

but now that Docker can run on M1, I wonder if there is some way to bring it in some form to the iPad. But I think that will be a distant dream.

Android allows you to move the app any where you want on the home screen!!

Well apple does not allow you to do this. Apple does not want you to move the apps around.

But not sure if this is a feature most want.

I don’t think android allows you to make folders on the home screen.

Android also has app library at the button where you can remove all the apps from the home screen but the apps you use the most. Where you bring up the app library to see all the apps you have installed. And bring up the app you don’t use most often from the app library. Making the home screen look clean and only the apps you use.

But again not sure if most people really want an app library.

And android does have similar thing that looks similar to dock like thing at the bottom where 3 or 4 apps always sit there.

I mean really what else is iOS or android going to use a taskbar or windows 8 mentro interface. Is that want people here want?

So there not much I can see changed other than people bored with the way the icons and themes look.

May be people want Apple to make flat icons that look similar to Android where all the android icons are really flat looking now than showing a sort of 3D icon look apple use. Well not as 3D look as first iOS icons but no where as flat as android icons now.

Or you want rounded icons like android?

Thats what a few people are posting they want. It’s not, IMHO, what most people want. Check other threads on product line refreshes. There are always posters with wishlists of ‘I want A, I want B, I want C….’. It may be good for them to have it but for many it’s not relevant (folders on Home Screen? Better widget control? Not relevant for me).
And Apple and Android are for profit corporations (see their quarterlies for Q1 to confirm that). Tangible market success is check box 1. Undoubtedly some nice product offerings never get to check box 2 because they fail the first check box test.

What do I want from iPadOS? Large recent apps widget and App Library. The two things I use daily on my iPhone that were introduced in ios14. Easy.
