In support of your point...

Take a look at the late-2012 Mac mini with i7 processors' single-threaded and multi-threaded performance. Then look at the current machine... Really, the improvement in processor performance (2x multi-threaded over 6 years) doesn't warrant annual updates. Maybe semi-annually would be OK, but essentially the Intel Mac product-line is 'mature' and there aren't big improvements to be made. The biggest cost component of the Mac is the operating system, macOS, not the underlying hardware.
maybe proc not much development these day except the more core 2 use the the same wafer smaller and smaller again.Compare to "ARM" which are cheaper these day and "AMD", intel need to invent something.

Keep dreaming

There’s no ecosystem that can compare to apple and until there is I doubt they have too much to worry about
i been in windows eco system for a long term and downfall would be in 4 to 5 years because most people couldn't afford to buy the phone. They should separate business entity so can moved ahead

I believe you! I still want smaller AirPods and think that I'd be more comfortable with them listing that the devices are waterproof. Other companies do it. Apple can too. The fact that they don't and the longish form factor are what's kept me from buying so far.
Smaller means less quality and less battery life

I expect price increases all across the product line and new dongles to provide the functionality that will be lost because of the ports they’ll remove this year. And courage!

AAPL lost $350B in market cap under Tim Cook's so-called Leadership in CY2018 ... why is there NO prediction of his Ouster as CEO from MacRumors ???

IMO, that should be up at the top of the list !
Are you serious? How about 2012 till now?

Except for the Mac Pro, I don’t see anything in this list substantially moving the Apple ecosystem forward. I hope they have some surprises up their sleeves, especially in the software, cloud and services departments.

I see Apple going further down the line of minimal upgrades...
I mean 5 series of Apple watches since it came out?
2 pencils?
Really, that sucks as a way to try to get people to buy new hardware by trickling out incremental hardware updates.
I see it now in the instructions for products
For series 3 and above you can speak to your watch and get responses....
For you unlucky ones who have an older watch...

the cynic in me would say there are those at the top of Apple that have too much control over too many areas and can thus only work on one or two things at a time.

I love the idea of the touch bar, but think it adds too much to the price

The equation isn't that simple.
But in any case, lots of people already have with Apple sales numbers not increasing, they increase the prices instead.
Welcome to business/technology.

From a business perspective, you don't give every feature possible every release because that's stupid.

And from a technology perspective, it's not possible because the tech doesn't always exist or work well yet.

How about so much of what used to work 100% and now doesn't (i.e. OS stuff)?

And a new Pro machine that can only use ONE vendor's video card... no sale.

Not sure what you're talking about, but sales are certainly not a problem. They just wrapped up a year with $266B in sales, the most ever...by far.

Apple focuses on what matters to most people. Some of the "Pro" people just like to whine a lot.

If Apple does not AT LEAST upgrade the internals of the SE, Millions of Apple Users -including me- will be pissed.

This would be such an easy task for this trillion dollar company. Don’t ruin it, Tim, don’t be lazy, serve ALL customers!

They are no longer a trillion dollar company so it seems your anger is already priced in.

Hopefully they release a decent budget iPad, my air 2 could use some replacement after an approaching 5 years of use .

So unasked for iPad Pro features in the new iPad mini while reducing the display quality. If true then once again another dumbass move at Apple under beancounter and censorship fascist Tim Cook.

I've been halfway keeping an eye on upgrading my home stereo/computer audio system. My 12 year-old JBL iPod soundbar thing is fine but its built-in 30-pin connector doesn't even fit anything I have any more. And my Creature speakers had long since crumbled to dust (the subs are fine though).

The HomePod was interesting but at $350+ I just couldn't justify it. Last month I was poking around eBay and saw some used ones with a sub-$300 Buy-It-Now price. This was around Black Friday so a few more days of watching, I decided to bite on one from a known reseller with a $220 asking price.

It shows up (an unused demo model actually) and I was very pleasantly surprised with the sound quality and Apple's ease of use and connectivity. I don't do Spotify so I was fine with the iTunes offerings.

After a few weeks Best Buy started offering refurbed/demo units for $250 so I picked one up locally. The box had been open but the unit itself had not been removed from the box at all. The stereo pairing sound quality was so much more expansive that I imagined. Even after hearing how nice they sound from YouTube tech channels.

Although the consensus seems to be that there is no need for an Apple TV update, I don't have one yet and would love to buy one with some refreshed internals. Bluetooth 5.0 instead of 4.0 and gigabit ethernet instead of 10/100, for example

Apple TV 4K has Gigabit Ethernet and BT 5.0

I’ll be upgrading my X to whatever X Max version come out, upgrade my daughter’s iPad Mini 2 if the Mini 5 is launched and will be getting her, her first iPhone for her birthday. I’m now on a 2 year upgrade cycle with my iPhones and 3-5 years for iPads. I have the 2017 iPad Pro 10.5, so I won’t be needing a new iPad for a few more years. To be honest, I didn’t have a problem with Apple’s pricing last year for the X, since I’m on a 2 year upgrade cycle. With their current pricing, I definitely won’t be upgrading yearly as I did in the past. I also would love to buy my 1st Apple TV if they refresh it for 2019.

"Though the Mac Pro hasn't been updated since 2013, Apple is working on an entirely revamped high-end high-throughput modular version that will facilitate regular upgrades to meet the needs of Apple's pro user base."
*laughs loudly at the naiveté*

We shall wait and see.. i bet it will fail.

The 9.7 inch model, with pencil compatibility doesn't cut it for you? My daughter just picked one up for ~ $329. That sure seemed fairly budget-minded to me, especially compared with the $1300 + Pro I am lusting for. She loves it.

A kick ass Mac Pro. I don't care about money. Make it a beast.

Also I'd like a 17" MacBook Pro beast. The 2010 17" is the best laptop they ever made.

Perhaps something to compete with the Microsoft Surface Studio 2. MS seems to have out-Appled Apple on that one.
