They should improve Siri – The Artificial Imbecile she is at the moment.

Had a conversation with her (about 10 minutes ago):

Me: Hey Siri, Can you move my tomorrow's reminders from 16 to 1550
Siri: Which reminder shall I update? (talks through them)
Me: Both
Siri: Seems like I cut you off. Can you please repeat that?
Me: Both of them.
Siri: Sorry, I missed that. Which reminder shall I update?
Me: Bold of them.
Siri: I couldn't find any reminders about 'Bold of them' that are due tomorrow.
Me: I say both of them.
Siri: I don't understand 'I say both of them'. But I could search the web for it.

I close Siri, take a deep breath and give it one more try:

Me: Can you finally move my tomorrow's reminders from 16 to 1550.
Siri: Which reminder shall I update?
Me: The first one
Siri: Here's your reminder for tomorrow at 4 PM: (Totally different, irrelevant reminder moved to tomorrow instead of any of those she picked from the list)
Yeah considering Siri launched on the iPhone 4S 7 years ago it’s appallingly bad at just about anything but asking what the weather is. Odd that the same company who has engineers making the A series chips can't hire the talent to make Siri every bit as useful as Google Assistant.

I think you will see phones surpassing the $2000 mark in 2019. Apple needs to make up the lost ground due to below expected sales of the current Xs/Xr lineup and will raise prices more than usual in an attempt to increase the bottom line. Also, I think you will see a 10-20% increase in Mac prices but no updates. "Vintage" gear will be used to justified the increases that are coming.
I don't think so. XS Max sales forecast were just slashed again by 50%. Increasing the price further will do no favors in helping sales. Apple has made the XS series too expensive, but they've also made hardware, to their credit, good enough to last several years, particularly beginning with the 6S series, and they've helped performance on older models with iOS 12 sufficiently enough to warrant not upgrading. After spending the last 2 years with a 7 Plus and the last 3 weeks with my XR, I can confidently say the experience is virtually identical. Of course there are improvements in speed and camera, and the gesture based operation, but those are not worth upgrading for most people, and that's an $800 phone. Now imagine you have a 6S/6S Plus and you are looking at spending upwards of $1000+ to give you such a very similar experience.

I don’t know if they will surpass $2,000 but a price increase is likely. When sales slow a bit on a product, but the product still has a very popular name brand with a very loyal customer base then a price increase can help keep profits stable even if sales are lower. The tricky part is not taking it too far causing sales to collapse. I think an updated XS could withstand a $100-200 price increase, but taking it too far too fast might have a detrimental effect on sales.

Logical (to me) would be:

SE-like phone, which has screen covering all of the surface.
Because so many buyers like small phone, but bigger screen.

Pro Display, that might have same hight than imac, so it looks good next to an imac (pro), but, again has the screen covering all of the front surface. So, it’s about 6k and wider than imac, but same hight and same dpi.
Because releasing a standalone pro display in 2019, which is just 27”, is just lame. Pro’s want more real estate. Not just pixels, but also inches.

Without question, this site is an Apple buzz kill. My thought on the matter is, if you're an Apple fan, you won't be for long if you spend time on this site. So tread carefully.

Apple is the problem. If some of Apple’s most loyal and passionate (us on here) customers feel this way. How do you think your average customer feels? They definitely won’t see the value of paying 1100 for a Xs Max with only 64gb of storage.

I did not buy the iPhone Xs or Xs Max not because of their price but because I feel that my iPhone X is still a beast and feel no need to upgrade.

If your phone is only one year old why would you think you needed to upgrade? I would expect owners of 6, 6s, or 7's to be ready for upgrade but an X is pushing it.

Apple might also diverse the prices.
Flagship could cost more, for the people who want to flash their phones and can afford it.
And the reat of us might get better performance-price ratio.
All win-win.

You honestly think people are going to be beating down Apple’s door and are going to pay 1200-1300 for an upgraded 64gb iPhone? Take your blinders off man.

Well one thing is certain; we can expect higher prices.

Apple need to get their heads out of their asses and snap back to reality. They should drop their prices back to a sane level, increase the quality control of their products, and especially bring the MacBook Pro back to its former glory. A smaller, compact, iPhone SE successor wouldn't hurt either, idiots.
I appreciate the loud minority of people who want an updated SE.

Loud MINORITY.

There price will always be too damn high for small meaningless upgrades.
Apple is all about greed.. As for the Mac Pro ? We have heard before upgradable and expandable.. I doubt this will be, only memory will be upgraded, processors will be on board. I don't trust anything anymore.

I actually think Apple will stay all its products at current prices and market it as “all these new features at same price!”
Think that’s a safe bet, I struggle to see how much further they could stretch pricing on most of their product lines without sales numbers starting to tank!

I’ll be upgrading my X to whatever X Max version come out, upgrade my daughter’s iPad Mini 2 if the Mini 5 is launched and will be getting her, her first iPhone for her birthday. I’m now on a 2 year upgrade cycle with my iPhones and 3-5 years for iPads. I have the 2017 iPad Pro 10.5, so I won’t be needing a new iPad for a few more years. To be honest, I didn’t have a problem with Apple’s pricing last year for the X, since I’m on a 2 year upgrade cycle. With their current pricing, I definitely won’t be upgrading yearly as I did in the past.

What people want: New Mac Pro, small iPhone, iPad mini 5, iOS dark mode etc.

What Apple will give: New emojis, Carpool Karaoke Season 2, Memoji with hats and tattoos, price hikes etc.

Price hikes is what Apple does best ! I am happy with my 2012 Mac Pro.

Neither my 2011 iMac nor MacBook Pro will run Mojave (but I can get by without Dark Mode) so I'm in the market for a new machine which I expect to last well beyond 2022.

Interestingly, both my kids used MacBooks through college (one to do a Computer Science degree). Both immediately switched to PCs upon graduation. The only reason I haven't switched away from macOS to Windows is that I develop iOS apps.

Dude, that is not so. I am running Mojave on a 2011 until I get my 2012 MacBook Pro - the last upgradable MacBook Pro - look for a guy named Dosdude.. he made Mojave run on a 2008 MacBook pro.

AAPL lost $350B in market cap under Tim Cook's so-called Leadership in CY2018 ... why is there NO prediction of his Ouster as CEO from MacRumors ???

IMO, that should be up at the top of the list !

The end of Apple if this moron is still in power. Steve was the best !

Apple should release Time Machine 2 for APFS drives and disclose full APFS specifications for developers to make utilities like DiskWarrior 6 to rebuild APFS directory. Until then, it is a deal breaker. Waiting stuck in macOS 10.12 Sierra just because of that. Hope 2019, 2020, ever?

Everybody don’t want a small iPhone. I would’ve said what some want.

Well, you can get iPhone 10 for cheap since the new phones are out.

Remember, software takes a long time to catch up to hardware. I doubt they will do this, but who knows. Really, I don't have too much time for computers as my country is in a civil war with Russia and my battalion can call me at anytime.

Lots of complaints to be had on this forum. The seeds of entitlement are strong here.

At the end of the day, you’re purchasing devices with many multi-billions of dollars in R&D dumped into them.

Some companies offer devices with higher specs, more features (or more desirable features), etc, but we have infinity in our pockets with top-class design, engineering, and thoughtfulness, wrapped into a symbiotic relationship of closed-end software and hardware.

All of life is pay-to-play, and over the past 12 years I’ve seen members have issues with devices and hardware they will never afford, and likewise will likely never get the most out of that machine ($5000 MacBook Pro’s, for example).

I hope many have the New Years resolution to live within their means and needs. While fantastical electronics are cool, for many it seems they don’t understand that many pro machines are designed to be company expenses and tax writeoffs. For those who get off for dumping money into machines that they’ll never push to the extremes, that’s their business. Chances are 95% percent of people can get by with the new MacBook Air or an iPad if they desire an Apple device for work and play.

Phones don’t need to be updated every year, but those who do never complain about their devices or the cost of said devices, case in point for the iUP program. The same goes for computers. Buy a device that will serve you until vintage.

Happy New Years, and happy decision making. Let’s get some more optimism here. Most of life can be a drag, but chances are if you own an Apple device, you should feel lucky enough to be in a privileged group of world citizens that aren’t spending the evening thinking about the food they haven’t eaten in several days.

Agree- we were given a google mini home for Christmas and can’t believe how good it is. I’ve trird Siri in the past but never had a good experience with it.

Using the google home is a revelation and you can hook up blue tooth speakers cheap chromcast audio
And video dongles to have multi room audio.

This is where Apple should concentrate but they just seem so out of touch right now.

Well said ! I am from Ukraine and we are poor nation where most of us can't even buy anything. I am a security guard for a bank in Lviv and my salary is less than American's. I have a 2011 MacBook pro and soon I will have a 2012.. you are right. We all need to live within the means to survive. Apple's fancy stuff just brainwashes us and we just want it. Do I really need 32GB MacBook pro ? No ! Do i need even a 2015 or 2016 MacBook Pro ? No ! I hardly use my MacBook pro and if I do its only when i am in coffee shop here in the city. 5000 dollars for a computer is STUPID and a sign of greed by corporations like Apple that try to rip people off. Come to Ukraine or even Eastern Europe and you will see how normal people here live. I still live like this also, though i make 35000 Hryven' a month which is equivalent to 300 dollars a month in USA money.

More like 2025 for a modular Mac.. I’ve been first in line since the iPhone 3G and this year I won’t be upgrading. The price is just too much for us, we’re now looking at buying a home and doing adult stuff and the upgrades aren’t worth it if you do them yearly. I’ll hold on to my XS MAX for 2-3 years (hopefully)

The price I pad to upgrade my 8+ to the XS Max was not worth it.

Oh well, will just use my XS Max for the next few years. Definitely will not be upgrading next year.

"Though the Mac Pro hasn't been updated since 2013, Apple is working on an entirely revamped high-end high-throughput modular version that will facilitate regular upgrades to meet the needs of Apple's pro user base."
*laughs loudly at the naiveté*
