The low-cost eighth-generation iPad is due for a refresh and while we haven't heard a lot about a new model, it would make sense for it to be updated alongside other iPad models at the April event.

I think you're wrong on this one. The 8th and 7th gen iPads were released in September 2020/2019. So a 9th gen is probably not until later this year - September?

I, myself am hoping for news about a new Apple TV and could be fun with airtags. New macs would be nice as well :)

Personally I'd love a new iPad Pro, my Air 2 is ready to be replaced.
I'm also hoping they'll refresh the Apple TV and the 16inch Apple silicon MacBook Pro.

I'm not sure if the low-cost iPad will be refreshed, the 8th generation was released in September 2020, seems a bit early.

I didn't see them provide AR support for third party devices. Maybe they will, but maybe that will be just for Apple devices.

Imagine opening the FindMe App, clicking "Keys", and seeing a live view of your room with a virtual red ballon tied to your keys.
Or a red balloon sticking out of the toilet bowl with a tag ... "Last known Location"

iPad mini

There's an iPad mini 6 in the works, but don't expect major changes. Recently leaked dummy models suggest the iPad mini 6 will look quite similar to its predecessor with thick bezels and a Touch ID Home button.

ipad-mini-6-screen-increase-feature.jpg

It's possible these models are not quite accurate as there have been several rumors suggesting the iPad mini will feature a larger 8.5 to 9-inch display, which would be an upgrade from the current 7.9-inch display and would presumably be implemented through a reduction in bezel size.

Models are often designed for case makers and sometimes it doesn't matter what the front of the device looks like, so it could be that the general sizing is accurate except for the display, which could perhaps feature smaller bezels. It's also possible that there's another more significant update for the iPad mini in the works for the future, but it will come at some point after this more minor refresh.

Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has said that Apple is working on an iPad mini with a mini-LED display, but it doesn't seem like that's a feature that's going to be included with this refresh since it's currently technology rumored only for the 12.9-inch iPad Pro.

Japanese site Mac Otakara said the iPad mini 6 will have an 8.4-inch display with slimmer bezels and a design similar to the iPad Air 3, and that's perhaps the most convincing rumor we've heard because the same design is also rumored for the next low-cost iPad, and right now, the iPad mini 5 and eighth-generation iPad are quite similar.

There were some not so believable rumors that Apple would introduce a "Pro" version of the iPad mini with an 8.7-inch full-screen display and chassis that's wider and shorter, but that rumor doesn't make a lot of sense, especially because it suggests a launch will come in the second half of 2021 rather than the spring launch that we're expecting.

Everything we know about the iPad mini 6 can be found in our dedicated iPad mini roundup.

You don't go from 7.9" to 8.4" while keeping the same footprint without giving it the 11" iPad Pro/4th Gen iPad Air treatment. At best, you can reduce the bezels by a bit to make it an 8.1" screen size while keeping the same foot print, but any more than that and you're either giving it a larger footprint or you're removing the bezels (and home button) outright. It's either getting the iPad Air 4 treatment or it's keeping the same general body design and shape that it has had since the iPad mini 4.

Low-Cost iPad

The low-cost eighth-generation iPad is due for a refresh.
No it's not. It was just updated seven months ago after a full year of no updates. It's still way too soon for a Ninth Generation model here.

Don’t expect any M1x,maybe just a redesign for the imac,i wouldn’t be surprised to see an old designed imac with M1 along with updated specs but not in terms of design , ipad pro and mini , just A14x ( m1 ) crippled down avoiding to be an Macbook AirTouch .Rest of the events Apple Tags, new colors for the covers..not for the Imac and thats all. New M2 / M1x not before next fall.IMO.

But they could have done that already, maybe the new iMac will have the M1 as base config but also a more powerful processor as an option. If M1 was the only option they could have released it last fall with the rest of arm macs.

I understand but i think they will just put a M1 in the old iMacs , or new design , that was the delay , with just M1.
I really hope i’m wrong , seeing the M1x could be a glimpse of the future Macbook Pro 14 i’m waiting for but i’m not holding my breath or saving beers ).To be frankly i’m sick’d of so many youtubers saying its coming its coming...or why i returned my m1 except they are not...i mean there is one who is saying 14 inch is out next month...well by...months.Ridicoulos and boring,

OK fair enough, but it could be the name of a technology, not a specific product.
AirTags is a weird name for a technology. AirFind or something like that (admittedly, something better than that 😂) would make more sense if it were a technology rather than a product.

Rumor that the iPad Mini 6 will have only A13 and 3GB of RAM! Hope it is false!

To think Apple is going to then release their own little plastic tag is pretty ridiculous.

If anything is ridiculous it’s calling others’ opinion that.

It’s totally possible that Apple will want a part of that accessory tracker cake and spill some on the market for easy add on shopping.

I'd rather Apple removed the rear camera for a better form factor, or at least removed the bump. I don't know who uses the rear camera... anyone?

Plenty people use it for document scanning for example. But I agree, camera bumps are always ugly on smart devices.

New Apple TV! That's all I want. But, I'll be REALLY surprised if we see one at this event.
Same. My third gen is losing functionality by the day and I want to upgrade but would hate to do so on 4 year old tech just to have a new one launch immediately, especially if that new one has a better remote. I’m getting really tired of waiting though.

Looking over the list, it's crystal clear to me that Innovation is Dead @ AAPL !

To me, what AAPL needs more than anything is new Leadership, whether that's a replacement for Cook, OR simply new Blood on the Board, is the BIG question.

The Status Quo is fine if ALL you want is tiny, incremental improvements.

But anything more than that will very-likely require a BIG change.

A finally a new variant of “Apple is doomed”.
Thanks for that.

I won’t hold my breath, but I’m hoping they finally launch Apple Card in Canada.

That would be nice, although not really worth mentioning at a hardware event I guess. More of a press release item for the sidelines.
