If anything is ridiculous it’s calling others’ opinion that.

It’s totally possible that Apple will want a part of that accessory tracker cake and spill some on the market for easy add on shopping.
Then justify it. Come up with a plausible explanation for it being a real commercial product. It is nearly impossible to do so while being serious.

The updates are also never quite so minor. March 2020 was a very minor update. Plus the ONLY rumors for this event have been iPads. Pencils, airtags, all the macs have not been actively rumored for this event and have simply been conjecture. So I’m confused how you aren’t expecting an update. What would you think is going to be released?

It doesn’t matter if the update is minor or major. Apple has never updated the Pro line of ipads on a yearly basis and I already gave the release dates for all of the previous four generations of ipad pro to show it (which are, of course, verifiable). That being said, Apple may as well be changing the game this time. In addition, the rumor is very strong on apple releasing new colored iMacs now that the event invitation came out. Nonetheless, let’s not be too sure about anything. Look at what happened to Jon Prosser for being so sure.

I'm just waiting to see what crazy names for the new products they come up with. Is "Low-Cost iPad" the official name? :)

I’m not claiming it will definitely happen. Leaked screenshots were posted above somewhere.

I don’t work for Apple and don’t intend to justify whatever the heck they feel like doing. Tracker tiles seems like a business others play in already.

Proactively claiming that any point to the contrary is not serious is great form. Enough said.

It is pretty clear what is happening and what is not from all available information + logic and common sense.

AirTags are not a commercial product.

I smell a new ridiculously priced dongle coming along with something out of this. Maybe with an AirTag built in!

Funny - a few days ago I looked really forward to this event as the apple TV rumors started to intensify. But now, as we are nearly there, my hopes are gone for an update. Gosh, this sucks! I am tired of waiting.

Can’t think of an explanation more plausible than…

Yep I was sure wrong about that!

What a slap in the face to every third party they built the Find My network for. Apple really feels the need to take what little money there is out of the tracker tag business? Pathetic.

So ridiculous! 😃
It is. Very. Huge slap in the face to every third party for whom they just announced the Find My network. Something Apple will make no meaningful amount of money off of, with the competitive advantage of the Ultra Wide Band integration.

I think the Find My network is more for products with integrated Find My functionality. Cipolo just decided to put this feature just in a little chip, despite the rumors of AirTags. As with all accessories Apple makes it's not about the money they make from those directly, it is about the eco system they create. And I think they wanted to offer a solid solution by themselves with all the features they have to get the Find My app started.

Another way to look at it is this has anti-trust issues written all over it. I'm sure we'll see that soon.

Ah, but those third parties have the competitive advantage of “hole in the tracker”. I hear from folks on this forum that’s a difference worth having :)
