I'd rather Apple removed the rear camera for a better form factor, or at least removed the bump. I don't know who uses the rear camera... anyone?
Lots of people do. In fact, most people have ditched compact or even entry level reflex cameras because they only use their smartphones now.

If AirTags don’t come out at this event, I’m giving up. This has been the third or fourth consecutive event for which they’ve been rumored.

Sure, but you can see why they’ve postponed the release, can’t you?
A product that cleverly relies on lots of people being out and about to ‘crowd-locate’ an object... and a global pandemic with a stay-at-home lockdown. Timing....

There’s no way this comment was about phones. It’s the iPad camera bump. And I completely agree with it. I don’t use a case and I have to be careful where I put my iPad down to avoid scratching a camera lens that will eventually crush resale value.

I'm not in the market for an iMac -- I gave up on all-in-ones about a decade ago and haven't looked back -- but I am curious whether we'll get a glimpse at the M1X, or conversely whether M1 updates will be held to an annual cycle.

Arguably a fixed update cycle for the processors would have long-term planning benefits for Apple, which got slapped around by the irregularity of the Intel releases.

I dont take photos with the rear camera but I do use it for scanning QR codes. The camera is fine for a quick shot but I prefer my iPhone since its more up to date on the camera tech.

I think your worry is misplaced here.

The camera bumps are all designed with a tiny lip around the lens cover which (in combination with the camera bump itself not allowing the lens cover to rest completely flat on a surface) keeps the lens cover raised off of whatever smooth surface it’s placed on. I wouldn’t place my iPad on asphalt though, of course.

My 11” iPad Pro has been flat on a table, caseless, many times over the past two years and change, and the lens cover looks pristine. I’d frankly be more concerned with cracking it with a drop, and even that’s rare.

Even tho i gave up all my macs for an iPad Pro a few years ago, I could possibly buy one of these new iMacs for the home

I don’t get this fascination
/ obsession with over priced tiles. Just buy a pair of AirPods Max. Your level of douchebaggery won’t change.

I don’t understand why Apple is spending tons of cash on original programming and a gaming service, but letting their own Apple TV hardware waste away. Makes no sense.

I’m literally buying an AppleTV4K just to watch Hamilton with my Stereo Homepods, and then returning the AppleTV until their new release comes out. 4 years since the last release now, this is a joke.

And it’s looking like it’ll be absent from this event as well... now it’s looking like a September release :(

On the iPad we could agree. I don’t think I’ve user mine other than to scan a couple of documents, and then again it’s handier to use the phone. I don’t really notice the camera bump because it has a cover.

Anyone else starting to give up on AirTags? I really want them to happen, I even got rid of my Tile devices. But, losing hope at this point. 😔
Apple is weird with design, especially with off-of-the-beaten-path products (e.g. outside of their mainstream products: mac computers, iphones, and ipads).

They have a $350 keyboard case for iPad Pro models, but people pay that because it is a decently made option and there aren't really a lot of third-party alternatives.

They make a ~$120 iphone and watch magsafe travel charger, and probably a significant number of people went with alternatives or are waiting for cheaper third-party charger options.

Official Apple charging cables and USB-C chargers are substantially more than third party models as well. Some of this is just the designers being very specific with what they want, rather than letting price drive the equation. Sometimes this means third-parties took "shortcuts", sometimes there is little material difference other than the price.

I also suspect some of the Belkin TB3 accessories that came out around the Apple launch were actually originally Apple designs - the number of gigabit ethernet adapter sales Apple saw wasn't worth their time, but others stepped up.

So the question is - will there be a material benefit of Apple's tags vs all third parties? I suspect Apple _does_ see enough of a market to participate, but you might prefer a third party tag that focuses on size, or price, or ruggedness more.

🤔

you obviously never been to a school concert and sat behind a sea of parents with their ipads out trying to film their kids.

AHAHAHAHA))) yes — i want to make sure i never lose my airtags, so they need to be about 15" in diameter. :)))
Just wear it like Flavor Flav clock around his neck. That way you don’t lose yourself.

****, if Apple see this, they’ll release a Apple Neck Watch with constant ECG.

Ooh I like the black Apple Pencil. If they do make it in black, they better not charge an extra premium for it like they did with their Magic Mouse/keyboard.
I’d be happy to pay extra for a black Apple Pencil.
