Same here and more so, having moved vast majority of systems over to Windows based hardware. Frankly from a business perspective it`s difficult to trust Apple to follow through, as Apple has clearly abandoned some markets. Even if the 2016 lineup impresses, it`s likely to be far more focused on the average consumer, and who`s to say that Apple once again will allow the Mac & OS X to wither on the vine.

This is where I feel that Apple is misjudging the market, $2K upwards for the average consumer is a hefty price for a notebook or desktop. For systems that "produce & deliver" the same price and upwards is irrelevant as the hardware is monetised. Mac`s are not selling due too a lack of updates, they are not selling as they are simply too expensive for the intended target audience, and too diluted for many of us with higher needs. Nor I am willing any longer to support a company that does not at very least equally prioritise it`s desktop & notebook line up`s with it`s other products...

Was a time I would have unreservedly recommended the Mac, these day I pretty much discount it :(

Q-6

I have waited almost two years for a decent update to the rMBP.
Apple has been very dissapointing in the last few years, and I'm tired of hearing "this is the most ... Blahblah ever! o_O on a less than #notimpressed announcements geared towards apfelheads.
I will have a windows laptop configured and ready to press "buy" in the browser, as I watch the next announcement for rMBP.
OSX is super convenient, but for the right price, I will rather have *nix VM(s) running on (a surprinsingly much more stable than before) Win 10 to compensate.
I need a machine that will do the job, not a candy bar to impress some half brain dead hipster hamster at starbucks ...even Win laptops are starting to raise their quality and looks a lot. Just look at the dell xps...
S. Jobs must be crying (and screaming) in his grave...
So am I, because I was a "converted" PC guy.

Then perhaps you should have put that in your original post, which said absolutely nothing about Macs.

My point still stands. Haters will be flooding every tech site (including here). Now if only there was a way to monetize that......oh wait.
You're not my supervisor!

Same, I just want systems that deliver, Apple`s too busy these days selling fashion orientated gadgets, with the Mac so far down the list of priorities it`s laughable. I would be ok with it to some extents if pricing was adjusted as the hardware ages, it`s not as Apple is plain greedy.

To date W10 has been great, solid performance, need to be more careful on what`s installed. W10 is still a little new which can bring some problems, equally at least Microsoft is looking at productivity, and I like the direction Windows is heading. All this flattening of the UI and reduced contrast in OS X does nothing more than reduce readability and usability.

Down to just 3 Mac`s now, with a few kept over for the kids. Way to go Apple, as stated too expensive for the average user and too limited for many in engineering and or creative streams. The fallout of this is that Apple looses the "halo" effect from such users, further exasperating poor sales. IMHO as long as Apple keeps this strategy Mac`s are going sit on the shelves...

We're just a few days away from Apple's annual fall event, where we expect to see the launch of the new iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus, a second-generation Apple Watch with new bands, and refreshed Beats products.

We may also see the debut of Apple's rumored wireless "AirPods" earbuds, and we'll find out when iOS 10, macOS Sierra, tvOS 10, and watchOS 3 will officially launch. For details on all of Apple's new products culled from the rumors we've heard over the course of the last year, read our below guide on what to expect, but beware -- there are lots of spoilers!

Nothing more than a phone and watch design company. Once upon a time they use to make computers.

Yeah, I remember sitting around the campfire and telling stories about "Stevey the Jobs", The "Wizard of Woz" and the rise of the Mac, back in the good old days.

The kids eyes were full of wonder as I spun tales of the "Clone Wars", and other long forgotten Macintosh Milestones.

We'll likely not hear about such things again, especially not without a 3.5mm headphone jack.

Well written !!!
But tomorrow's Event may portray a low "Innovation Quotient" for Apple. Apple has always played by it’s core-strengths and focused on incremental innovation. But last few years of Product line & developments give a feel that either Apple is introspecting and still hasn’t got a clear direction in post-Steve jobs era OR they are working on a secretive breakthrough disruption. Not much expectation from tomorrow's Event. My instinct is that Sep2019 should be a great year for Apple. Read more of the analysis @ goo.gl/6OWi9N

They don't typically release macbook products on iphone launches. The will have another invite specifically for that.

See my other reply. :)

They should make some exceptions than, their real customers are truly waiting for a new release of MacBooks, rather than the continuous updates of the phones which show little to no innovation. Really disappointing and I would wonder how many loyal Apple Mac users are slowly FORCED to move to alternatives....truly disappointing.

so tell me again whats the purpose with having two cameras on the back of the iPhone??

Could it possibly be......better photos?

I'm thinking the camera will be THE major upgrade. Look for lots of high quality images and videos to be presented.

I think they are working on some exciting stuff. They have an army of talent and spending $10 billion on R&D last year.
I was a bit suspicious something was up when Bob Mansfield quietly dropped from the public eye a few years ago, then industrial designer Marc Newson was brought in but no more news, Jonys new position is a bit vague. Something big is going on.

We are all (myself included) guilty of ragging on Apple for not continuously pushing the envelope, but the fact is that Apple is *NOT* the same company they were 10 years ago. Back then they were a much smaller company making forward-thinking devices and software for technically driven people. Now they make devices for the masses, which means commodity items that have appeal to most anyone. Those people care about cool apps like facebook/snapchat/etc. and bragging rights. There is no longer a financial incentive to drive innovation.

Apple has always made products for the masses- this is central to their philosophy. The whole point of everything they did was to make things easier to use, simpler, more elegant, and runs completely against the idea of catering to "technically driven people". While certainly they were smaller ten years ago, they already had a market cap of $50 billion, so not exactly small fries!

Apple is just as driven to innovate today as it ever was, you simply cannot expect it to redefine an industry or create entirely new products every few years. What Steve Jobs achieved under his later years at Apple is mind boggling- but it also happened with a lot of luck and timing due to the general market conditions (rise of the Internet, services or products that needed much improvement like digital music or smart phones).

My mind is going to explode tomorrow, Sony releases new stuff, Roland Synthesizer company releases new synths, Apple releases new tech, all on the same day!

No new Macs and the Mac Pro is about to hit 1000 days without an update ..., October then?

Any actual hardware updates are a rarity and a substantive update to the Mac Pro would cause actual shock at this point. I've come to expect more of this:

10-15% chance, so probably not.

I'm thinking there's a greater chance that they may update the iMac and MBA just so they can demonstrate the inclusion of a Lightning port and custom BT chip signaling what kind of support is coming for the developer

I expect the same low resolution phone. The difference between my just sold 6S and my HTC 10 is startling.
