Boy this is going to be an event to skip nothing but updates no real upgrades to anything. See what other events Apple does in next couple months.

Can’t wait for “The fastest ever” everything. Joking aside. My CC is ready for a new IPP. Please don’t make us wait until October to announce it.

Bummed that the 11” iPad Pro isn’t getting the mini LED screen. I didn’t upgrade my 2018 11” iPad Pro last yr becuse it didn’t get it…and looks like i won’t be upgrading this yr either. Oh well.

What to expect? Mainly disappointment. iPhone is going to be even more expensive and less innovative. Apple Watch has been ignored for various years now. The last true update was series 4.

Quick question... why do you consider to get the iPhone 14?... if we can expect Apple's next iPhone to depart from lightning? why not simply wait for the next version?
I have the Xr and I was really thinking to upgrade this year... but now I am having second thoughts, if I shoudn't just hang in there for one more year and get into the next ecosystem?

Phone addiction and FOMO is quite rampant. I'll be sticking to my 12 mini for quite some time.

Just wanted to say thanks to Dan and the team here for these well produced and informative videos, it's a great synopsis.

Time to upgrade to the 14 Pro Max. Might be due for a new AirPods Pro after, but mine aren't dead yet.

Mini was their bust, market is just too niche. Surely they will keep those for sale on-the-line for awhile until inventory is depleted, which could be a year or more. Since you know how Apple is with supply chain, very large orders for parts that'll last another generation or two. Of course with EU trying to hit them up in the rear with 5-year inventory. Who knows.
I’m still hoping the mini will be the next SE form factor, I love my 13 Mini, it’s my second favorite iPhone after the 4, it’s basically the perfect size: small enough to both easily slip into my pocket and to easily wrap my relatively short fingers around for comfortable one hand use, but with a sizable screen.

The mini would sell if it wasn’t so freaking GIGANTIC!! Common sense!!

Make it the size of the iPhone SE screen. Clearly people don’t mind that size and it could be used with one hand.

I don’t know what this obsession with gigantic phones is. I have big hands and these new phones are too big for me!

Big refresh for me, upgrading from Apple Watch 4 to 8. iPhone 12 Pro to 14 Pro. Possible Airpods Pro.

Going to be an expensive event.

And yet the " notch " stays for yet another iphone upgrade. OR should i say minimal upgrade except for the normal camera and chip upgrade. Tell me I'm not the only one getting bored with this

I would say that this is almost certainly the least exciting iPhone release since there has been an iPhone. I wish I had more of an excuse to justify an upgrade from last year's model, but it's just too marginal.
I would think the opposite, but remember, this is a phone thats targeting folks who are still on an iPhone 11 or earlier, not necessarily a 12 or 13. In fact, there is no reason really to upgrade unless your phone is broken or no longer getting iOS updates. But the iPhone 14 certainly has a lot of features for someone like me with an iPhone X: 48 megapixel camera, always on display, bigger battery, faster SoC (this is if you are coming from like a A11), refreshed design with a smaller pill shaped camera array on the front, better lowlight performance for night photography, astrophotography, AOD (although I would likely turn this off to preserve battery life, satellite communications (this is actually a big deal, people who like hiking a lot or go out into remote areas with spotty reception - trust me there are a lot of them especially if you are in the PNW).

So, when you accumulate all these improvements, even if you are coming from a 12, they would be substantial enough, but not justified. But coming from much older models, this is like iPhone X all over again.

I noticed my X is getting slower when performing basic tasks like launching apps like Teams, loading Photos or even the camera app. I was in Target yesterday and wanted to quickly find out the name of a song that was playing. By the time I got to my Home screen to right click Shazam, the song was already over. This was simply because Face ID took its own sweet time unlocking.

That said, I am waiting on the iPhone 15 Pro Max; who knows, I might just even wait until my iPhone X stops getting iOS updates all together.

I love my iPhone 11 Pro Max but last year was the first time I skipped the usual 2 year cadence and forewent the 13 pro.

Apple’s first iterations (tick models) all suffered major problems (just too damn slow, antennagate, paintgate, bendgate) so I went with the second iteration (tock models) of every generation, ie. 3GS 4S 5S 6S and the 8 Plus (rather than X that came out the same year) followed lastly by the 11pm. In fact all of them still work except for the 6S whose battery keeps dying every couple of years!

I think you mean the 6S to 7. The 8 brought wireless charging with the A11 Bionic chip and Neural Engine. It was at least a big spec bump that year even if it still had the classic design aesthetics.
Yes it did.

I was really just reacting to someone who though that this year’s improvements were historically small. There are always some updates each year and I am fine with that incremental improvement. Phones are pretty much a mature product and major changes will be rare. I don’t expect major innovation every single year. I also don’t upgrade every year. By the time I do upgrade, the phone is significantly improved.

New Apple hardware doesnt impress me at all anymore. They are incremental upgrades that do not drastically change my work flow. I am always more excited with new software or services. Things like Apple card, iphone upgrade, and buy now pay later are things that make a difference. I am waiting for Apple to launch its own phone/data service 😉
