The phone you have now is fine and will be for years. Try to be more responsible.

Agree completely

I use a 2016 iPhone and 2019 iPad Mini

Seemingly everyone I know always has a new iPhone, iPad and Mac..
It’s incredibly wasteful (none of them “need” the latest every year…at all)

It is their money, so do what you want I guess, but I wish we could get away from being at this level of consumerist and materialist.

Apple is rumored to be transitioning to USB-C across its product lineup, but this year's AirPods Pro are expected to continue to feature a Lightning port.
Waiting for the show to see if Apple accelerates the move to all devices to USB-C, its a given if they announce the new base iPad that will be USB-C based, but iPhone and accessories is up in the air? Not sure it's beneficial to Apple to wait another year given what could be achieved by finally switching and what they could support via iOS for expanding what you could do on the iPhone especially with storage connected to iPhone with imagery and video.

Still happy with my iPhone 11 Pro, AirPods Pro, Series 4 watch, and iPad Air 4th generation. Not been any killer features added to the products since I bought these.

Probably the iPhone in 2 or 3 years when the battery life sucks and 5G availability is complete.

Just yet another iPhone and yet another watch.

Apple should finally start its transformation towards a service company and the devices should transform into long lasting devices, easy to repair/upgrade.
There is no major progress and at the same time we should use our resources carefully and focus on recycling and reuseability. A watch should last a lifetime like it did a few years ago. If something breaks, just replace the display, the clockworks or sensors - whatever.

The world is changing right now, climate change is evident and mankind has probably reached a technological peak. We all should start to think different.

Nobody should be buying new phones every year. We live on a planet with far too many people on it consuming rapidly depleting finite resources.

The phone you have now is fine and will be for years. Try to be more responsible.
Agreed, rampant consumerism in the face of the burgeoning global environmental calamity makes zero sense to me. A new phone every year for some folks? Oofah. We're still rocking a 6S and 8+ at our house, they'll get replaced when they're no longer serviceable...hoping they still make the SE line when that day arrives, no home button, no sale, Tim.

All I can think about with the name "far out" is an old Aussie dude reacting to the price increases
(even tho the price increases are fair imo)

I would think the opposite, but remember, this is a phone thats targeting folks who are still on an iPhone 11 or earlier, not necessarily a 12 or 13.

I'm rocking an iPhone XR, my wife is still using her iPhone X.

We're planning to definitely upgrade her's this cycle, maybe mine too.

Looking forward to what they release this week :)

I don't understand why you are such an advocate of staying behind on operating systems and products in general?
Uh, it’s good for the environment and if the device is still supported, why not? This is a huge selling point from Apple themselves. We are not living in an era of infinite resources here.

Does the environment care if I am using the watch/phone or someone else is using it? If I trade it in, and Apple resells it or recycles it, how does this harm the environment?

In the market to upgrade from my XS Max. I can't remember their launch/availability track record but, historically, will these iPhones be available right away or will there be some delay in when they're actually launched? I wanted to say that these should be available for pre-order next Friday and (hopefully) should start shipping out within a week or so. Is this still the case or will these launch later this year?

I have another month before I can upgrade as the iPhone 12 came out in October 2020 which was 23 months ago. At least I have an extra month to really assess the deals rather than the usual jumping on whatever offer there is on launch day. Plus I’m likely going to get last years model so stick shouldn’t be an issue. Interested to see what is launched and how it impacts the costs across the range.

The phones should be able to be preordered Friday with delivery the following Friday (if you get in early).

The watches I'm not sure when the preorder date will be but they will be shipped in October.

Why is the event not taking place on a Tuesday like usually?
Probably because Monday was a holiday. If there is a live component they need time to setup and asking people to do it on Labor Day is not a good look. They tend to skip around holidays and Sept 11 so most years are Tuesday but some years it is a Wednesday.

Try to not tell others how to spend their money.

I trade in my watch to Apple when I buy a new one for example. Apple then either resells it or recycles it. It isn't being wasted.
No, I'll tell people to be more responsible when they are being selfish and wasteful. As I said, finite resources. We all need to ask ourselves "do I really need need this?" much, much more.

Consumerism, selfishness and greed are responsible for so much destruction in the world. It must stop.

Well done on missing the point. It's not just you, it's everyone. We all need to examine how much we consume and flatly use much less of everything. As a species we're using 1.5 earth's worth of resources. Clearly that isn't sustainable and as developing countries start using more that will only get worse.

I buy a new phone when my old one is no longer usable. 5 or 6 years. I keep cars for much longer and when I do finally change my car it will be an EV. I don't eat meat. I don't fly. I try to buy local. And so on. Little changes everyone can make can together make a huge difference.

And it's rather telling that you thought it appropriate to respond with a laugh to my previous post.
