Late 2004 1.2GHz iBook - the really cheap one with the combo drive and a measley 30GB hard drive.

I threw in an extra 1GB of RAM, clean installed Leopard on it, popped in a slightly larger 40GB HDD and the thing runs faster than when I got it.

Not as fast as my black MacBook with 4 gigs in it though. God this is a sweet machine.

Late 2006 Macbook, 2Ghz, 1Gb, 80Gb, White. Also my first Mac and thus responsible for my love affair with (nearly) everything :apple: :D

Early 2003 12" PowerBook. 867MHz PowerPC G4, 256 MB RAM (later upgraded to 1.12 GB), 40 GB 4200rpm hard drive, combo-drive. Came with Mac OS X 10.2 Jaguar.

Mine was a 14" iBook G4 with an 80 GB HD and 768 RAM. I still have it, but the hard drive is damaged and the battery is dead, so I use it as a backup computer only now that I have a new MacBook. We had a good five years together, though.

2006 15" G4 1.25ghz with backlit keyboard (my second mac ever, after the G4 mac mini)

It is nice to see that many people seem to come over after the intel transition. I still remember the controversy, and I thought that mac resale values would plummet afterwards, since the hardware would be the same. boy was i wrong.

on ebay, G4 mac minis are still in the $300+

Picked it up for $100, got a free 2gb of ram and kicked it up a notch. 2.16GHz, superdrive, 2gb ram, 160gb HD. Getting a white screen for it soon; Hence the white keys.

Dude, that looks awesome. I love the piano look you've got going there, but a white screen? Maybe a little overkill? :p

ibook g4 1.2 ghz 14", less than a gig of ram and a 60 gb hard drive running 10.3.9.
that thing was really great when i first got it, but now it doesn't hold a charge and just turning takes like 5 minutes so it is in its box below my dask where it will probably stay. the one thing i can't get over was the display, sure it was matte, full screen, etc, but it still shows that apple can and should put a larger display in a consumer laptop.

Now what is that?
Is that a typo or for real: $100?

My first was a broken iBook.

PowerBook 12" 1GHz. Bought it in late 2003 and used it as my main computer until last April when I bought my current BlackBook.

I love that laptop, and still use it as a sofasurfer at home. HDD has been boosted to 80GB and it has a new battery but otherwise still original.

If only they still made a 12" MacBook Pro

PowerBook 15" 1.5GHz, released April 2004 (can't remember which Rev that was).
Still have it & runs great!

First apple laptop, and also first laptop ever, was a dropped MBP 17 off ebay. It worked perfectly. I still miss the keyboard, the macbook's keyboard is hard to type on in comparison, and the screen size of course.
