Those who don’t update definitively don’t worth it at all.And many apps will likely never be updated.
And for personal use that might be enough. I’m sure Affinity will be there on day 1. But if you require the entire Adobe CC suite, it doesn’t matter whether Affinity is there one day 1.Those who don’t update definitively don’t worth it at all.
The good ones will get updated and pretty soon since the effort to make them ARM capable are minimal.

I have tons of scientific software that I absolutely require for work and I doubt they will all be updated even within let’s say two years.
So for personal use I’ll definitely buy the 1st product released. But for work I’ll stick with Intel for a couple of years.
Oh, and virtualizing Windows is also necessary for my work...

One of the software I relied on (by a huge life company) is still 32 bit, hence I cant run it anymore since I’m on Catalina. Now the only way for me to run it is through windows virtualization.Seems like softwares backed by companies. They might run through Roseta at first, but will likely be updated to run natively.

Mac apps isn’t a huge priority by all companies![]()
Intel Mac and Windows 10 in Parallels is actually very nice. I have a 2017 iMac 27" with SSD and its freaking awesome. I don't think I'll need a new work computer in many many years. It’s sad
Well then I think you are working on your last mac![]()

because the Air isn't an ultra-portable
...reports now are that the first ARM devices to come won't get redesigns...
I think mine will be a mini because I just love them. In a bit of a quandry right now since I was planning to get a mini just before WWDC, but now with Big Sur & the move to ARM, it's kinda thrown my plans out the window. I'll definitely wait until after Big Sur is released before buying, so that it comes pre-installed and I don't want to go through an update from Catalina or do a fresh install.
I know Apple probably can't let us know what comes first, but when I saw the dev mini, I felt like, "yes, please make this the first ARM Mac you release", but now with the rumours of it being a MacBook, I need to weigh up whether to just go for an intel mini if there's no ARM mini released this year. Just wish I knew if one was coming this year. Tricky times to buy a Mac.
