I'll be going for the first MacBook Air (or equivalent) they offer. Hoping for a general purpose machine with obscene battery life and ideally thermals that are less likely to set your legs on fire - looking at you here 2020 MBA...

For a work computer I'm fine with my current 15" MBP, but when it's out of warranty I'll probably be pushing them to shout me whatever the ARM equivalent is or maybe even a 14" variant if there is one since I find the 15" ever so slightly too bulky.

Hoping for that 14” MacBook next year

As long as battery is long and fan noise is minimal, I’m going to jump onto the ARM Mac train

I have a MBP from Nov 2011 (2.8GHz i7, bumped to 16GB RAM and upgraded the HDD to a 1TB SSD), still going strong but I am hanging for a new Mac. Was thinking i'll go for a Mac Mini and change it up from having a laptop. Don't really need the portability, although I wouldn't say no to another MBP. Clearly I tend to look after my equipment and use it for a long time! Although i'm sure I may replace a future Mac on a slightly quicker timeline - hopefully the new Macs are reliable, some things just aren't built like they used to be!!!

16-inch MacBook Pro, of course seeing how it performs first. I have confidence it'll be an excellent machine though.

Mac Mini will be mine but will be some time. I had a 2009 which lasted with till 2018 model.
is an iTunes / iOS device manager and run headless with fit4k.
drobo 5c attached for iTunes library.
suspect will last a while for me

used to have a Mac Pro 2010 that replaced with a hack that essentially an iMac as in i9900k, nvme boot disk, sapphire pulse rx580. That is running

fcp x
handbrake
iflicks
Makemkv
ripit

basically for media editing/ripping and don’t see it being an issue getting those on arm mac other then ripit. Sure can get dvd ripper though by time need it.

hopefully will put own hardware in for media conversion into Mac’s though cannot see a prores chip like the afterburner making it down into a mini style but can dream.

I'll probably go for the new MBA. Just hope it looks a bit new. Rounded corners etc. I've seen the current design so long now, would like a refresh on the design together with the ARM switch.

I badly need a 16" personal macbook pro. Doesn't sound like one will be available this year though =/

It'll depend on their roadmap and my needs at the time things come out. I just recently (December) got a nearly maxed out (only thing I didn't max was the storage, only went up to 2TB) 16" MBP which I've been very happy with, but by the time they make an Apple Silicon version, I'd probably be ready to upgrade to that ... and I imagine that thing is going to be a beast

However, I also have a 2014 iMac that's getting a bit long in tooth and wouldn't mind upgrading that to an Apple Silicon device.

Regardless, I'm excited :)

I'm excited about anything within the 12-13inch.. I want something easy to carry around whenever I go to a café or the beach.

Can easily hook up to the iPhone for Wi Fi

Mostly an iMac to replace my old monitor altogether. After the full transition period completed of course.

Won’t be needing an MBP anymore, replaced that with an iPad Pro while waiting the ARM transition.

Hoping for a decent 16 inch MacBook Pro comes out with Apple Silicon. This should fix the issues with the current 16 inch MacBook Pro's GPU drivers, as everything will be under Apple's control. I need a bit of portability, but I've gotten so used to the larger screen on my 15 inch MacBook Pro from 2017 that I can't go down to the 13 inch, even if it has the same amount of power. I just hope my butterfly keyboard holds out long enough for me to save up :/

I want an AIO form factor with at least a 27" 5K display (and to be honest, that would be my preferred choice over a larger and/or higher resolution display like a 32" 6K).

So essentially my 2017 iMac 5K in terms of overall form factor (preferably with thinner bezels and a shrunk chin).

I have thoroughly enjoyed the Intel-years. I remember the PowerPC-era very well, when popular apps were missing on the Mac, and even many of the apps that did exist were severely crippled.

Intel-era was so liberating! Finally most if not all apps were ported to the Mac. The Mac became a viable option for most enterprises, schools and so on. You could even use Boot Camp to play high quality games on it.

I know Apples market share is very much different these days and much of the software is cloud-based, but so far I‘m not sold on the transition.

I guess I just haven’t seen the value that an ARM Mac would bring, just yet.
I just want to see reasonable Apple hardware that can allow 4K with HDR graphics, even up to 8K. We have cameras that do this now, but what limited options we have for the rest of us to even use our cameras these days on a Mac at higher digital resolutions.

I like the Mac actually being the Rosetta as you implied instead of running Rosetta as far as being able to run many different virtual machines and applications with it being a full UNIX solution running on a Intel processor. I care not about running iOS apps natively on a ARM or Apple Silicon laptop/desktop/or workstation.

The Game aspect is particularly troubling, since majority of games at either console or PC centric. That I would sorely miss, don't look forward to lots of iOS native game apps. :D

Jumping on the Mac mini bandwagon. Though I have already been using a Mac mini as my only Desktop computer for the last few years. And I haven't owned a MacBook either, instead preferring an iPad on the go or for travelling.

That said, if Apple release a worthy successor to the 12" MacBook, I'd be tempted. I've kind of wanting to get one for years, for its size and portability. First, its relatively high price put me off. Also the lack of ports (I don't need much, but felt at least a second USB-C port lacking). After trying it out, the feel of the keyboard - and then the issues with stuck keys cropping up.

This would be my wishlist:
- small and lightweight (1kg / 2.2 lbs)
- solid battery run-time (10hrs)
- keyboard with reasonable tactility
- affordable price (sub-$1000)
- two USB-C ports

Why settle for USB? Thunderbolt or nothing, baby.

Probably whatever the first one is to experiment, I’ve been interested in an ARM mac for a long time.

After recently playing with a 13 inch MacBook Pro, I am surprised how much I adapted to the bigger screen of the 16 inch MacBook Pro, I might be waiting until an ARM version of the 16 inch comes out to buy my first ARM Mac.

Under normal circumstances, I had scheduled the replacement of my current 15' mbp late 2013 model, with a new 16' mbp model, 2nd generation with intel, for 2021.

But now that apple silicon transition is announced, I will not go for an intel machine any more.
So, I will go for an apple silicon model.

The problem and my worry is, that in 2021, the new 16' mbp model with apple silicon, will be the 1st generation of its kind, and I don't want to buy a machine on it's 1st generation.
I am totally sure that it will have some kind of issues, I think it is expected to do so, regardless of the efforts of apple to show something flawless. It is inevitable.

So, I am thinking that this possibly means, that I will have to wait until 2022, for a 2nd generation of 16' mbp with apple silicon, giving the fact that apple makes a model refresh only once a year.
I have no problems with my current mbp, but for several reasons I should go for something newer.
As I am thinking of it, in 2021, I will not have the option to go for my new machine.
I would hope that the situation was different and more convenient...
:(

32 inch 6k iMac.

With performance to bury the current model in cpu and gpu.

100% faster.

So it will perform like a 20 core 27 inch iMac...without fans kicking up a protest. And a gpu that closes in on RDNA2 performance but punches above it's weight class. With both cpu and gpu raw performance optimised for user performance.

Azrael.

A 32" 6K iMac would be interesting, though I will dislike having windows re-size when I move them to my second screen (since I have no intention of buying a Pro Display XDR as my second display).

I'm hoping for 27" at 5K since that will mimic what I have now and my second display (an ASUS 27" QHD gaming monitor) works perfectly with it.

MacBook Air. My current base model 2015 MacBook Air is still doing fine but I’m too curious about AS so I’ll replace it anyway. Excited about having more than 128GB storage as well.
