Macos is stable enough, but it’s also stale. It needs a deep revamp and many new features.

No it's absolutely not. I've worked with every OS from 10.3 on and I've installed every patch release they ever brought out but I've given up. I stopped at 10.15.4 as it became unusable. I downgraded to 10.14.6 and most of the problems were gone. Catalina is a mess and I probably won't give 10.16 a try until 10.16.6 or something like that.

Agreed. MacOS does not need new features, and it is not stable. It needs to be refined to a point of stability. Apple should release a new OS every other year. One per year is excessive and doesn’t allow any time to stabilize before moving on to the next. Many new features are things we never would have asked for, if it meant less stability. Catalina is a total cluster****.

I’ve had a couple apple shills here try to argue that Catalina is the best OS yet and that I’m reading too much into the problems. I say those people probably work for Apple and I’m not buying it. My 16” on Catalina is full of bugs and none of the updates are fixing them.

Like many others have stated they need to pause with their yearly release cadence and fix all the damn bugs. Simple things like the bluetooth stack need a ton of refinement or the eGPU support (still cannot boot my machine with my eGPU connected). What is the point of having all of the existing features when they don't work half the time?

Because they’re going to shake things up with this ARM transition.

Anacapa is another, smaller Channel Island with a pretty name.

Or they could pick something from the north (which they haven't done before), like Shasta.

Personally, I vote for Blythe.

Something from the north would be good. As far away from buggy Catalina as possible. Shasta is nice. Cascades would be nice too. I still like Sequoia.
