I've never seen so much negativity on a Mac OS release here of all places.

They probably will, but then some of the stock apps will just come out with a new set of bugs. That’s unfortunately how it’s been for the past few years.
oh and yeah, the will probably try to unify their naming and just call it ‘OS Pro Max’ from now on.
They can call it "Meh" for all I care, unless they manage to fix that toxic hellstew of bugs, incompatibilities and perhaps bring in some UI freshness too.

Macos is stable enough, but it’s also stale. It needs a deep revamp and many new features.
If it gets called Monterey - Ford should sue (Mercury Monterey). If Skyline - Nissan should (Nissan Skyline). Don't think Mammoth or Rincon will be a problem though.
Why not just call it macOS Grill? add the new feature that when you turn the MacBooks upside down you can grill a burger.
