What will the name be for the new iPhone?

iPhone a little bit better than the last one unless you upgraded your 3g to 3.0

On a serious note, I dont think that they will do anything other than call it iPhone 3G - and it will be noted as the 2009 model (thats assuming it comes this year!!! lol)

As one of the people who took a 3G on launch I do hope they dont release a new one for a little while, Im stuck with this one until Dec 09 and I know if they bring a new one out.......... I'm going to have to sell my granny to get out my contract and get one!

With the compass, maybe we'll also see other little hidden bonuses as well. I'm sure they could fit a can opener and a small pair of scissors along one side and on the other, we could have a mini saw and knife. Maybe the sim card can mutli-task and hold the toothpick as well. Thanks apple! You're the bestest!
 
I think apple should call it the "ATT Apple 8232 v.3 Pro 3G" . Then for every market they can rebrand it to the local carrier and offer minor stylistic differences to piss off the consumer just like HTC does. When you boot it up, it will show a splash screen of (insert carrier logo here) followed by the blazing 3G logo. That would be cool! :rolleyes:
 
They changed from 'iPhone' to 'iPhone 3g'. Of course now we all know it's 3G so I think they'll drop that part and go back to just iPhone. Gotta get away from that '3G' thing before other companies start advertising '4G' after all...

Of course for the first 6 months or so I'm sure it will be 'The New iPhone'.

Crazy I know. There will be one on offer, so why change any names. Apple don't change the name of the iMac or Macbook when they're updated.

I mean, if any product had the word awesomeness in the title, how could you NOT want it? Plus the number 3000, then the sweet sounding letter combo XPS. SOLD.

everyone else will name it something different ( like iphone 3g 2009 vs iPhone 3G 2008)
 
I think it'll just be called iPhone. But, in their system and manuals, it'll probably have something like iPhone 2,1
 
I honestly think it'll just be "iPhone" unless they continue to sell the iPhone 3G 8GB as well as the next generation iPhone. If they do (on AT&T, at least) they'll probably have "iPhone" and "iPhone Pro". I'm hoping it's just "iPhone" with one model, though.

They'll drop the "3G" and it will become just "iPhone" again. I'll wager it stays that way until 2011, when it will be called "iPhone 4G"

When referring to it, it will just be the 3rd generation iPhone. Like any other Apple product has its gen's.

I hope they take away the "3G" from the name... I liked it better when it was just iPhone. Plus 3G is becoming a standard feature, so there's no need for it in the name.
