Well, seeing as we know absolutely nothing, everything you've heard is false until Schiller says so on the eighth.

But he might not even say anything about a new phone on the 8th either.. That's a rumor also... It doesn't matter to me when it comes out I can wait.. Even though sometimes I feel like a kid at christmas..

yeah and if there is no new iphone announced at wwdc... apples stock will plunge! everybody is expecting it and it will be dissapointing to customers and share holders. there for, there will be a new iphone.

A lot of older Macs had fax machines built in but we didn't call them iFaxes, to call the iPhone the iPhone is to emphasize that it's a phone but minimizes everything else. It's basically a multi-touch computer, with GPS, wireless Internet, a camera, and cellular voice communication. And it all integrates in cool ways. So, I think a name that means nothing like iPod is better than iPhone.

You could make a phone call from a netbook, which doesnt mean you'd want to call it MaxiPhone.

With convergence do you think there will be a day when Apple still makes non-communicating iPods (classic, shuffle, nano)? And if not, why lose the iPod brand name when it seems in my opinion to be stronger than iPhone....

I dunno something like iPod Mobile.

it will be called

"iPhone" ;)

and yes, tallest skil is annoying. it's best to just skip over his posts :D

It's a good question.

I think they'll revert to just plain iPhone.
The ads will (for the first six months) call it the "All-New" iPhone.

And my guess for the tag line will be

Lights, Camera, iPhone!

C.

The iPhone 'Another 2 years of frustration with Tmobile'.

The iPhone 'We'are Apple and we choose the worst carriers in ALL countries.'

Note: I will still buy the new iPhone,

Apple's

marketing

stratagy

is

too
strong.

I'm going to go on a limb and say apple will call it an iPhone.

That's what I'm banking on. The whole 3G moniker was pure advertising. Apple wanted to make sure people knew it had 3G, so they went with the name. Hell, AT&T might have been behind that because there are a lot of people who only ask "what the heck is 3G?" because of iPhone commercials.

Still, simpler is usually better. The iPod evolved into the iPod photo and iPod w/video, then to the iPod classic. Since the guts probably won't be too different aside from flash memory and maybe the camera, I doubt there will be a need for a new line name like the nano. The iMac line has about 4 base models without the need for other names.

I'd guess iPhone or iPhone 3G, but I see no point in putting "3G" in the name. I'd choose just plain iPhone if I were them. As someone mentioned earlier, 3G is kind of more common now than it's predecessor. (At least it is in Sweden)

if talk of the nano is right I'm expecting iphone nano for small and pro for the large

iPhone AV.

I dunno. My chips are on 'the New iPhone', or something to that effect. Unless they go nuts on us and rename it the Macphone. :p

Recent studies have shown a direct correlation between the desire for a 'pro' product and penis size.

Oh, so that's why you buy fancy computers? :D I have a 9" netbook...

Okay, back on track: Seriously - I highly doubt they will call it the iPhone Pro - as said above that would necessitate they make a lower-end, non-Pro model. Also, the iPhone is already a premium product; Making a distinction would cheapen it.

iPhone 3Gen, iPhone 3G2, iPhone 3GG, iPhone Clarence, iPhone Bill, etc...

don't really desire it, it would just go with the apple naming and show it was better than the 3g!!!
