Gonna go with a big ol' "NO" on that one. Tray-loading drives will stay. If they were going to get rid of them and take their fastest ODD speed from 16x to 8x, they would have done it with the first Mac Pro.
Surely you can buy a 16x slot loading? The laptops and iMacs use laptop drives hence the slower speed.

Wow. Unless somebody has a recording studio, I hope their CPU gets fried like a live shrimp for tempura.

But back onto the subject at hand....
its running like that by default! cpu (both) are 500rpm at 34 -35 degrees celsium.
and i do work with audio , yes. :D
and it IS more silent than my unibody...

Yup, one only needs to increase FAN speed if the temps go up. It's it's within reason no need to mess with it.

I feel like an idiot. I do apologize, I thought it said 50.... No more late-night/early-morning posting for me.

Why would you want to? There is ZERO benefit to them. If you want a computer that puts stupid fashion crap before actual usability, that's what the MacBook Air is for.

I want to see them include a flamethrower that will immolate anyone who buys one and then bitches about how it it doesn't look pretty.

Yeah, that's their color under a 5500 K (kelvins) colored light source - Typical camera flash.

But yes, they do remind me of the SGI Intel workstations or even the Intergraph workstations from about the same period.

Heheee, There's an R12K Octane sitting next to my MacPro :D

bigger is definitely not always better

whatever they do, they should not make the mac pro bigger. I barely got it into my cabinet as it was. More USBssssss please. & I agree, a microphone port. Also, a manual button to open the CD drive, like they have on a PC. (OMG! I said the P word :p) Other than that--- I love it!!!!

Why do so many want slot loading drives? It makes it much harder and more expensive to throw a new drive in. The only advantage I can see of a slot loading drive is you cant accidently leave the door open and trip over it (never gonna happen). I vote for standard components over pointless component "upgrades" for aesthetics.
